Stream for FREE on iTunes First Play!Tim McGraw " Sundown Heaven Town" (McGraw Music/Big Machine Records) Release Date: September 16, 2014Track List:01 "Overrated" (Shane McAnally/Josh Osborne/Rivers Rutherford) 02 "City Lights" (Deric Ruttan) 03 "Shotgun Rider" (Marv Green/Hillary Lindsey/Troy Verges) 04 "Dust" (Rhett Akins/Rodney Clawson/Ben Hayslip) 05 "Diamond Rings and Old Bar Stools" [Duet with Catherine Dunn] (Luke Laird/Barry Dean) 06 "Words Are Medicine" (Tom Douglas/David Hodges/Zac Maloy) 07 "Sick Of Me" (Andrew Dorff) 08 "Meanwhile Back At Mama's" [featuring Faith Hill] (Tom Douglas/Jaren Johnston/Jeffrey Steele) 09 "Keep On Truckin'" (Tim McGraw/Brad Warren/Brett Warren/Blair Daly) 10 "Last Turn Home" (Eric Arjes/Ryan Hurd/Maren Morris) 11 "Portland, Maine" (Abe Stoklasa/Donovan Woods) 12 "Lookin' For That Girl" (Mark Iwrin/James T. Slater/Chris Tompkins) 13 "Still On The Line" (Bob DiPiero/Jon Nite) Deluxe Tracks: 14 "Lincoln Continentals and Cadillacs" [featuring Kid Rock] (Rodney Clawson/Luke Laird) 15 "Kids Today" (Brad Warren/Brett Warren/Blair Daly) 16 "I'm Feelin' You" (Brad Warren/Brett Warren/Derek George) 17 "The View" (Eric Frederic/Crista Russo/Joe Spargur) 18 "Black Jacket" (Brad Warren/Brett Warren/Blair Daly) ** MBAM is one I've loved since first listen. "Sick of Me" is really good and I've played it quite a bit since I bought it yesterday. "City Lights" just doesn't work for me. Something about that hook of "she's city lights" or "her eyes are city lights", however he words it, seems off. LFTG, no need to discuss it. Interesting that he has a collaboration with Kid Rock and Catherine Dunn (who I'm not sure I've heard of before...off to YouTube I go!) Edited by jhomes87

I would've hoped they would leave off the horrid "Lookin' For That Girl".. They could've gone with "Back at Mama's", or "City Lights", or anything else for the lead single!

I must not be going to the right place in iTunes, because I can't find anywhere where I can stream the entire album.

Kentucky25 asked me if he could put up the thread since 4 songs are available to download and can be streamed on YouTube (Dalton--could you link to them on YouTube?), so I said sure, as long as he updates the thread when the full album is available for streaming. But I'm sure that will be a few weeks yet, possibly not until next month, so until now, yes, this thread is basically acting as a placeholder, I suppose.

Just an FYI--I went ahead and edited the thread title, removing the "listening party" label for now. Hopefully that eliminates some potential confusion.

Sick of Me is my favorite song of the era so far, I hope it's a single over City Lights.

Because I'd hope and pray there's better songs on the album than City Lights.

Oh, I really like City Lights and would be happy with it as a single. It's not very original subject matter, but I love the instrumentation on that song.

"Diamond Rings and Old Bar Stools" is excellent. Probably my favorite song released so far from the new album and I love everything I've heard so far besides "Looking For That Girl".

I wish I could get excited about this album. While I love the current single along with "Diamond Rings & Old Bar Stools", "City Lights" & "Sick Of Me" , I took the survey a few weeks back these were the only songs that grabbed me. Ill give it a chance when it comes out but I wasn't terribly thrilled with the rest of the songs . While the snippets are always a bit lo-fi and you can only hear a portion of the song's , I remember thinking the percussion on the remainder of the songs wasn't very appealing.

Overrated - I'm indifferent to. City Lights - not a big fan of the hook "she's like city lights". Shotgun Rider - good, nothing special. Dust - isn't anything special really. Diamond Rings and Old Bar Stools - really good Words Are Medicine - a better message song than "People Loving People" in my opinion, but still doesn't really appeal to me. Sick of Me - is amazing, pure country. Back at Mama's - awesome. Keep On Truckin' - not great, but nothing bad. Reminds me of an up-tempo "Chugging Along" from LB. Last Turn Home - it's alright. The "you're like..." lyric has become very overused if you ask me. Portland, Maine - really good. Like a slow version of Tulsa, Texas (Easton's) Looking For That Girl - still exists sadly Still On The Line - daggone good song. Lincoln Continentals and Cadillacs (Kid Rock) - Pretty cool pairing, I'm in the camp that has like Kid Rock's country-ish songs. Kids Today - surprised me the way the song went. I figured it'd be a "back in my day it was better" kinda song. I'm Feeling You - cool production, but lyrically unimpressive. The View - not really sure how I feel about this one, it's odd. Black Jacket - great. I mean, where has this been? Just dang good country music.
Overall it's very up-and-down. "Diamond Rings...", "Sick of Me", "Back at Mama's", "Portland, Maine", "Still On The Line", "Lincoln Continentals...", "Kids Today", and "Black Jacket" will be the songs I buy, the others I'll let go and try to forget some (LFTG/City Lights). "Black Jacket" is the best on the album if you ask me, one of Tim's best songs in a long while.

I only listened to "Portland, Maine" because I was intrigued by the title, but I don't see why it's like Easton's, "Tulsa, Texas." Portland is actually a city in Maine.

One of my all time favorite movies is Stand by Me. Stephen King wrote the novel (that was called, "The Body") that was turned into a movie and it was supposed to be in Portland, Maine. However, they made the same mistake and thought of Portland, Oregon, and because of this, the movie takes places in Oregon while the book is in Maine. I adore the song though! Can't wait to listen to the rest of the album.

Is anybody else's local Clear Channel/iHeart Media station doing a big Tim McGraw special today? KNIX in Phoenix has scrapped their afternoon show...Tim has been on all day doing an album launch-type thing. I wonder how things like this work? I haven't been listening all day, but during about two 20 minutes commutes, all I heard was Tim (and Tim would come on between songs talking about the new album tracks). I heard "Diamond Rings and Old Bar Stools", "Shotgun Rider", "Overrated", "Meanwhile Back At Mama's", plus some of his other hits including "Highway Don't Care", "Better Than I Used To Be", "Felt Good On My Lips", and "Live Like You Were Dying". I imagine they played some of the other new album tracks as well.
If enough CC/iHeart stations are airing this 'special' today, we could see several Tim tracks sneak into the Billboard top 60 next Monday.

He's also "Taken over the Taste of Country website", heavy first day promotion for this.

Love 5. "Diamond Rings and Old Barstools" (with Catherine Dunn) 7. "Sick of Me" 8. "Meanwhile Back At Mama's" (feat. Faith Hill)
Like 1. "Overrated" 2. "City Lights" 11. "Portland, Maine" 13. "Still On the Line" *14. "Lincoln Continentals and Cadillacs" (Duet with Kid Rock) *15. "Kids Today" *18. "Black Jacket"
So-So 3. "Shotgun Rider" 4. "Dust" 6. "Words Are Medicine" (Not really sure how I feel about this one to be honest) 9. "Keep On Truckin'" 10. "Last Turn Home"
Dislike *17. "The View"
Hate 12. "Looking For That Girl" *16. "I'm Feelin' You"
* = Bonus Track
This album is pretty good. It's not as good as Two Lanes of Freedom, but it is still an enjoyable listen with some great songs. "Diamond Rings and Old Barstools", "Sick of Me", and "Meanwhile Back At Mama's" are my favorites. I think some of the songs will grow on me, especially "Portland, Maine" and "Words Are Medicine".
Despite the lengthy track list, the album feels fairly cohesive and nothing sounds like filler. Even the songs I'm not crazy about are interesting and never boring. This is a strong album that fits nicely in Tim's strong discography. 3.5/5.
Single Predictions 1. "Looking For That Girl" 2. "Meanwhile Back At Mama's" (feat. Faith Hill) 3. "Shotgun Rider" 4. "Diamond Rings and Old Barstools" 5. "City Lights"
"Overrated", "Dust", and "Keep On Truckin'" are the other top possibilities.

I've only been through the album once so far but it's pretty solid, i think a notch up from Two Lanes of Freedom, but still below the output of his prime. Sick Of Me is fantastic though, I really really hope that ends up being a single. There's a tad too much production, but otherwise it's vintage Tim like I haven't heard since the mid-00's. My other favorites are Portland, Maine (great rock ballad), Diamond Rings & Old Barstools, and of course Mama's. I like Shotgun Rider quite a bit as well, I'm glad they went with that over City Lights, which like many others I found a bit clunky.
