I don't know if Tim was on 'After Midnite w/Cody Alan' this morning, but I very vividly remember him doing a whopping three-hour stint with Blair Garner for his exceptional 'Live Like You Were Dying' CD when it was released in 2004.
The CD is very good, and 'Diamond Rings And Old Bar Stools' is the type of showstopping song which draws ACM & CMA nominations like crazy, and there's no doubt in my mind that it has to be a single sometime down the road, although I have no idea who songwriter Barry Dean is.

although I have no idea who songwriter Barry Dean is. Really? Barry Dean co-wrote a little song called "Pontoon". Of course, he also had a hand in the dreaded "1994". Other cuts: 1) Little Big Town's "Day Drinking" 2) Carrie Underwood's "Crazy Dreams" (from Carnival Ride) 3) Toby Keith's "Drinks After Work" 4) Hunter Hayes' "Tattoo" 5) Ingrid Michaelson's pop/rock hit "Girls Chase Boys" 6) Martina McBride's "God's Will" Also he's had a lot of other cuts for Hunter Hayes (on both of Hunter's albums), and cuts for Lori McKenna, Thomas Rhett, Ronnie Dunn, Jake Owen, Billy Currington, Brett Eldredge, Sara Evans, Kellie Pickler, Montgomery Gentry, Neal McCoy, and Alison Krauss. pulserecordings.com/clients/barry-dean
Anyway, HITS has Sundown Heaven Town projected to open with 67-72k in first-week sales. Two Lanes Of Freedom debuted with 107k on the 02/23/13 Billboard chart, Emotional Traffic with 68k on the 02/11/12 Billboard chart, and Southern Voice with 137k on the 11/07/09 Billboard chart.

I expect Sundown Heaven Town to open less than the 108,000 that Two Lanes Of Freedom did during its first week.

I fell in love with Tim's music when I was in 5th grade and I heard, "Don't Take the Girl." He has has some misses with some singles, but usually his albums are always good to great. This is no different.
My favorites are, "Portland, Maine," "Shotgun Rider," "Dust" (I LOVE the "Dust on the Bottle reference), "Meanwhile Back at Mama's," "Lincoln, Continentals and Cadillacs" and "Kids Today." To me, "Portland, Maine" is single of the year worthy. It's so good and I just want to play it over and over.
I am not in love with "Diamond Rings and Old Barstools" as much as everyone else, but I do enjoy it.
The only songs I dislike are, "Looking For That Girl," "The View" and "Words Are Medicine."
I feel like "Keep On Truckin'" is a country version of "Shake It Off."
Overall, a fantastic album by Tim. I feel like he can go 5 singles deep so I hope a few of my favs get released.

#1 country, #3 top 200 CD with 71,000 sold. Congratulations, Tim McGraw!
I just thought of something (oh, no). Tim McGraw replaced Lee Brice at the top of the albums chart. A former Curb artist replacing a current one!

I really like this album. Some tracks are better than others, but that can be said about every album. Nothing on there can touch "Meanwhile Back At Mama's", but there are some other very good songs. Most notably, "Overrated", "Portland, Maine", "Old Barstools & Diamond Rings". I also really like the collaboration with Kid Rock. It probably shouldn't be a single but it's a good fun song. Overall, I think this album is just as good as, if not better than, his last one.

Once again, Tim doesn't disappoint! If we only get 1-2 more singles from this album, I'm hoping it'll be between Dust, Portland Maine, and Sick of Me. Really hoping Overrated and City Lights aren't in the running. Diamond Rings and Old Barstools has grown on me a lot since its digital release and is now one of my favorites. I also love Keep on Truckin', it's the "Mexicoma" fun song of the album.
And completely agreed about the deluxe tracks being terrific. I have no idea how Lincoln Continentals and Cadillacs didn't make the standard cut. I might be in the minority, but I love The View and don't mind "the hollering". Also, does Kids Today sound like Tinted Windows to anyone else? I can't listen to it without Tinted Windows coming to mind.

Finally got around to checking this out because my mom bought it, and I must say that this is a great album. There were some great songs on his last one, but I'd say that this is a step up from Two Lanes of Freedom overall. Early favorites besides the second and third singles (both of which I love) include Overrated, Diamond Rings and Old Barstools, Portland Maine, Still on the Line, Lincoln Continentals and Cadillacs, and Black Jacket. I've only listened to it a couple times so far though so I'm sure many of the songs will continue to grow on me.
Given the length of the album, the quality of the songs, and the fact that it just came out while the third single was well into its chart run, I'm hoping we get another 3 singles from this project. Two more should be a given, at least. My top single picks right now would be "Overrated" and "Diamond Rings and Old Barstools."

I'm late on this, but man I am liking this... "Diamond Rings and Old Barstools" is classic McGraw, along with "Shotgun Rider" and "Black Jacket".
I absolutely LOVE how Tim/Kid Rock sound on 'Lincoln Continentals and Cadillacs", really nice old school feel to it. I don't see how it only made the Deluxe Version. I'd like to hear that one on the radio.

I just finally took time to listen to this album earlier today (albeit while doing house chores) and have to say I was floored by how much I enjoyed it. When I clicked the song "Overrated" I thought I wasn't in for much of anything great...but Tim just nailed it. The song that actually stopped me in my tracks, though, was "Portland, Maine." I'm sure I've listened to that song at least 5+ times since...what an awesome track. Unfortunately, track #12 ("Lookin' For That Girl") seems so miss placed that I pretty much stopped listening after that. They might as well have put that song as the last track (I still don't know why that song is on this album or what Tim and company were thinking by recording and releasing it). I'll have to give the other six songs another listen, but LFTG will have to be manually skipped
