So your thing is to be ironically wrong or are you just a natural? I can't decide which is worse anyway. What, the voice is a dead ringer for her or for Duffy or for Amy Winehouse....you know those retro 50-60s doo-wop singers + that fuzz to the max guitar sounds which I always relate to every Black Keys songs(well the 3-4 I know, Lonely Boy comes to mind) But yes, if this gets played on one of those analogues for HOT AC that we would have here in Estonia, i would not change the channel. I agree on everything, xcept, I would definately change the channel. Finally someone hears the Megan Trainor thing I've been bitchin' about since page one.

Do basically all women sound the same. Nah... it just happens that Meghan Trainor and Elle King have similar voices to a small extent. (IMO they're quite distinct but at the same time there's a bit of similarity) I can easily tell the voice of Elle King apart from those from Florence Welch, Ellie Roswell, Brittany Howard, Lauren Mayberry, Mandy Lee, Lzzy Hale, Stephany Ward and Meg Myers, and all their voices don't sound alike.

No, the suggestion that she sounds like Duffy or Amy Winehouse.

Anybody using the opinion that she sounds exactly like Meghan Trainor as a way to rip the song and Elle King's alt cred is just being miserable for the sake of being miserable.
1. They are quite distinct despite the similarities, as Daryl said.
2. Meghan Trainor has a beautiful voice. People don't make fun of her because of her vocals, people make fun of her because her songs are unbelievably generic and repetitive, all sound the same, and have ridiculous lyrics. This song is nothing like a Trainor song.

Meghan Trainor has a beautiful voice. ??? In my opinion, and off the top of my head, she is easily the worst singer in the past 10 years. I haven't been able to stand her voice in any of her singles, regardless of what the subject matter may be.

I still say Charlie Random Letters is worse. If I have to hear Boom Clap again I don't think I could go on.

Saw "Charlie Random Letters" and initially thought it was referring to Charlie Puth, whom I find far more intolerable than Charli XCX, actually

Nicki Minaj did cross my mind, and while of her songs about 90% she's about the same quality (or worse), the other 10% where I can actually stand her song (such as "Turn Me On", other than the annoying bridge) bumped her up from the depths of Meghan Trainor, Ja Rule, and Jay-Z.

^Yeah, sorry, I just have nothing to contribute to the discussion of whether Charlie XCX, Nicki Minaj, or Iggy Azalea have a better voice than Charlie Puth or Meghan Trainor - this is why I stay out of the pop forum lol

The best female singer out now is Demi Lovato. I also dig Charli XCX and Cher Lloyd. I'm only talking about POp singers, cuz Megan; oops,I mean Elle has Pop like vocals. peace.

Ellie Goulding is the best female pop singer right now. Unngh she melts my heart.
I don't find anything wrong with Charli XCX's voice per say, it's just bargain bin Gwen Stefani. Then there's Iggy Azalea, who is a bargain bin Nicki Minaj which is awful. Kesha, Amy Winehouse, Meghan Trainor, etc are also bad. Taylor Swift I don't think has a bad voice she just has bad music. Like seriously the only good part about Bad Blood is Kendricks verses.
Download? Pass.

Blech, this is up to #2. "First" should probably pass this in the next couple of days, though, hopefully blocking this until Muse/Robert Delong/WTM get there.

...I've gotten to where I like this song. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing it at #1. I don't want to see it dominate for ten weeks, but I think it would be cool if it pulled a few weeks at #1. It's been two years since a female (as a lead artist) topped the chart (or more recently, if you count Team, but that only topped for one week on Mediabase). And this song is a lot more Alt-friendly than Royals.

WTM's sales I think are way too low for it to hit #1 - Robert DeLong's bullet is really small

I want something to unseat Renegades because it's been at #1 too long, so if this does it, that's fine as long as it only has a week or two at #1. I'd most prefer Dreams to hit #1, but as that's looking increasingly unlikely it would be great if First could be the next Alt #1.

Even though Ms. King's 2nd most played song on Spotify is a cover of My Neck, My Back", she thankfully doesn't try to put totally pointless and random rap verses in her songs to look cool, and also doesn't hurl insults at significant parts of the population and pass them off as 'empowerment', which is exactly what makes Meghan Treanor unbearable.
Charli Xcx would absolutely be on the Alternative charts of today as we know them, if not for her part in "I Love It", "Fancy", and "Boom Clap", three of the biggest pop hits of the millennium. Her music is not really a whole lot different from The Naked & Famous, who have zero pop hits; plus she opened for Coldplay prior to all those big hits.
I've liked "Ex's and Oh's" since the day I first heard it. Seems like a worthy successor to "Renegades" at #1, even though I agree that it'd be way cooler if Beck had gotten it.

Her music is not really a whole lot different from The Naked & Famous Come on - Boom Clap by Charlie XCX is similar to the Naked And Famous? Sorry, you're really insulting one of my favorite bands
IMO when you're comparing pop and Alternative, you've gotta listen to the lyrics, not just the singer's voice and the sound that the synths are making in the background - Naked And Famous lyrics are like poems

No. I agree with the King Of the Hill character. If Halsey can be on Alt , then yes, Charlie XCX could also be on Alt. "Fancy" ruined her expectations of ever being on alt charts, but her backround is from 80s alt rock and punk icons and her earlier songs are very indie synth pop .Never forget; Katy Perry pre "Darkhorse" Abomination song, also got Alt exposure for about 15mins . This song hitting #1 would be like "Out of the frying pan and into the fire" It's getting really bad @ the top of the Alt charts. :(

at the suggestion that Charli XCX should chart on Alternative. There is absolutely NOTHING alternative about her.
