Chart-topper on AAA and (soon) alt, now headed to pop according to Republic Playbook.

The beat is catchy but I'm not here for the singer's voice. It just doesn't sound right in this kind of song.

I'm glad they're not waiting to push this to pop. It's already #3 on Alt so it's better to strike while the momentum is strong instead of months later. I think this can hit Top 10 pop, hopefully Top 5.

This and "Dangerous" need to take priority over "Riptide" IMO.

If this song's about drugs, I just gained a lot more respect for it now.

Ugh, I hate this for some reason. Waves and Prayer In C grew on me but this I just can't get into. Oh, and Riptide >>>
It has the potential to smash here, though, I'll give you that.

I love this song. I hope this Riptide, and Dangerous can have successful crossovers here.

I still do not see this as a future pop hit like everyone else here I like this song, but I really don't see it making a big impact. I say it hardly scrapes the Top 40 lol.

Well after a thousand listenings i find this less annoying that at the beginning (and that's more that i can say about Hideway). It's a pretty innofensive song, really catchy but i find his voice grating.
From the songs that are hyped in the same way (Rather be, Hideway, Waves) this is the only one that did not that well on UK (but it was huge in Europe)

I really don't see it making a big impact. Based on very limited exposure (it's audience from Triple A and Alternative), it's already making an impact on iTunes, Shazam, and Spotify. What more of an early hit indicator could exist?

From the songs that are hyped in the same way (Rather be, Hideway, Waves) this is the only one that did not that well on UK (but it was huge in Europe) There are some musical similarities between Stolen Dance and Waves, but I'm not sure I see the other comparisons whatsoever. And I don't know that the hype is the same in any case. I don't recall any of those three songs being established at alternative prior to jumping over to pop. Also note that Rather Be, as good as the song might be, was a dog at radio until it got the On the Verge deal. The UK thing, which built buzz around the song and thus had it selling decently on iTunes, might have played a role in LANDING that deal, but it wasn't enough to take this song anywhere at pop radio on its own. Waves wasn't really moving at all--and STILL isn't--even though it got picked up by Z100 and KTU in New York. So clearly the international success hasn't been enough to take the song anywhere. If it ends up moving, it will be because American audiences independently decided they like it. I'm not guaranteeing success for Stolen Dance, but I'd argue the fact that it's established on an American radio format and has early success on the American iTunes store trumps any international buzz the other songs had.

I was not talking about similar sounds or being aimed at the same formats, i was talkin about having success in europe, and people mentioning that bunch of songs where they were released.
I don't think it has much to do with audiences deciding what they like, they didn't like Rather be that much after being exposed to it (like it or not) and the sales exploded. Waves is selling the same that I will never let you down, wich has five times more airplay. Stolen Dance has way more airplay than Waves right now, with it's success on AAA and Alternative, but it's sales doesn't scream big hit either, at least not now

One has audience around 10 million (Milky Chance) and the other is around 6 million (Mr. Probz/Robin Schulz). That's more or less the same, but Milky Chance is already pushing top 50 on iTunes.

Well, one is number one at AAA and top 3 at Alternative and the other is not even top 40 at pop, the difference in spins is quite notable

What more of an early hit indicator could exist? Very limited exposure? It was only iTunes' Single of the Week that is viewed by millions of people weekly. And you took my words out of context, I meant that I didn't see it making a big impact on Pop. It's too unique imo. I said that about "Am I Wrong", but I was far and out wrong about that one lol. I'd love to see this do something on Pop, but I feel like it won't.

I don't understand what people don't like about Clemens' voice on the song. I actually think its a great contrast and works well. I think its fitting, given the subject matter. But that's just me.

His voice is grating and abrassive, but that won't be a problem for me if i liked the song, wich is not the case. After a lot of listenings i start to tolerate it, but frankly i don't think it's that good at all.

Grating is even a bit too harsh, in my opinion - raspy maybe? But even then...
When I think grating (and this is not a negative - just describing the quality of the voice), I think more Kurt Cobain, maybe Rod Stewart. But this guy, I don't find grating. I've heard that he sounds slurred, lazy, drunk - and that I agree with somewhat - but I also feel it adds to this song in particular. He sounds a bit more melodic on other songs - 'Fairytale' for example.
