Hey people, here you can find my weekly personal charts. I made them since December 2013; first as Top 30, later as Top 40; first containing songs from every decade, later only containing "recent"(<5yo) songs. The chart is mainly alternative/rock though not exclusively. Some rules- There is a Top 40 consisting of songs I listened to. The position of the songs is calculated with a formula. Songs have to be at most 5 years old to enter the Top 40; for 2015 I include songs from 2010 and onwards, though I try to keep it up as recent as possible. - Both singles and album tracks may chart. To avoid having a chart filled with whole albums, artists may only enter the chart with one or two songs per week. Number OnesNew and old songs wandered through each other since the beginning of my chart. This was also true for the number one song. Therefore I have reconstructed the number one songs for the Top 40 to see which current songs would have been #1 if I had started my chart since the beginning. August 17th 2014 - Kensington rules the chart.
After almost a week delay, due to the lack of an update of my data, I have a Top 40! This week's Top 40 is a transitional chart,
as this is the first one with all songs "modern" (2009 and later). I dropped every song that was older and put the five most popular of them in a seperate "Oldies Top 5", which is shown below my Top 40. Because I had charted a lot of older songs, and did not have enough new songs, this week contains many recharting songs. Let's start with the Top 10. After four weeks of Alter Bridge's reign at the top, "Cry Of Achilles" suddenly drops to #7. A very tight race between this week's top three songs resulted in a #1 for Dutch indie rockers Kensington. This is the first modern Dutch #1. However, the gap between them and the #2 this week, Clean Bandit's "Rather Be", is very small. New in the top 10 are Jack White, Phantogram and George Ezra. Thomas Azier's synthpop song "Ghostcity" is the highest new song this week. It enters at #11. Other new entrances this week are "The Fall" from synthpop artist Torul; "To Lose My Life" from White Lies, which, though already five years old, somehow made it to my daily playlist; "Tonight", a happy rocky song from Dutch artist Jett Rebel, whose popularity is surging this summer, enters at #27; finally, Pearl Jam's "Yellow Moon", from their last album Lightning Bolt enters at #38. Noticeable risings are made by Vance Joy, whose song "Riptide" rises from #25 to #15, and by the Australian group The Creases, who climb from #23 to #12. August 24th 2014 - An unexpected no. 1
It's already time for the new chart, which seems quick, but last chart was posted with some delay. While last week's Top 3 was fighting for a #1 spot, it seems that none of them got it; Jack White's "Lazaretto" is the new #1, pushing down "Streets", "Rather Be" and "Blue Moon". Thomas Azier is new in the Top 10, rising from #11 to #8. Also George Ezra rises to #9. A significant climb is made by Jett Rebel, whose song "Tonight" climbs from #27 to #12. New entries are for White Lies, Foals, Arctic Monkeys and La Roux.Top 40, August 24th 2014LWk | TWk | Artist | Song | Peak | Wks On | 4 | 1 | Jack White | Lazaretto | 1 (1st wk) | 5 | 1 | 2 | Kensington | Streets | 1 (1 wk) | 6 | 2 | 3 | Clean Bandit ft. Nothing new yet due to computer problems; I can't access my data and it will take some time. Well, I have to do it with physical cds this week. Thank god I buy those regularly.
Note September 18th: probably this weekend I'll be able to keep up. There will be a new #1 and per August 31st 2014 I will only do the weekly Top 40 and stop with the Oldies.

August 31st 2014 - "Rather Be" no. 1
So it finally seems that I have access to my data, I can keep up with the charts. Due to this hiatus, I have to pretend that september and october never existed, so the chart following directly on this one, is November 2nd. Anyway, let's see what happens this week! After a short reign of Jack White's "Lazaretto", Clean Bandit ft. Jess Glynne's song "Rather Be" takes the top position, while "Lazaretto" falls back to #2. New in the Top 10 are White Lies' "To Lose My Life", an older song, which climbs from #13 to #8; their newer song "Big TV" rises from #28 to #16; Jett Rebel's "Tonight" enters at #10. The most noticeable climber is La Roux, whose song "Uptight Downtown" rises to #21. 'Newcomer' in the chart is Lenny Kravitz' song "The Chamber".

Happy Idiot is a fantastic song, glad to see the high debut. Also love Beck in the Top 5, and Interpol and Seether flying up the chart. Nice to see another rock-focused chart around here!

Yes, Happy Idiot is very addictive . I think it will rise. And indeed, there isn't that much rock in this subforum. It doesn't have to be exclusively rock, but a bit more would be nice.

November 16th 2014 - Major movements in Top 10This week, a lot happens. Lenny Kravitz takes over the #1 spot, while Clean Bandit retreats to #2. "Happy Idiot" rises from #23 to #3, Seether enters the Top 5, Interpol enters the Top 10. Also Sam Smith, Fall Out Boy and Gabriel & Dresden are rapid risers. Beck and George Ezra leave the top 10 however, and Kiesza's "Hideaway" drops too, never having seen the Top 10. Echosmith's "Cool Kids" enters at #34, and Heaven's Basement and Tame Impala, both having enjoyed a #1 hit last year, return at #37 and #38. Now we are only left with two more charts before a Year End Chart, since my charts started December. We will see what will happen then. November 23d 2014 - Happy Idiot #1
This week, Lenny Kravitz makes place for TV On The Radio at the #1 position, while retreating to #2. Notable is Interpol's rise of "All The Rage Back Home"
to #5. Fall Out Boy and Gabriel & Dresden enter the Top 10. Biggest riser is Echosmith's "Cool Kids". Newcomer is Dutch Dotan's "Home" at #31. November 30th 2014 - Last Chart of 2014
While waiting for the Year End chart, this is the last week of my chart year 2014. We see a stagnant Top 3, with TV On The Radio, Lenny Kravitz and Thomas Azier
still leading. Gabriel & Dresden rises to #5, while Sam Smith's "I'm Not The Only One" enters the Top 10. Clean Bandit's "Rather Be" leaves the Top 10 and drops to #12. There are three new entries, being songs from Banks, Cage The Elephant, and Mark Ronson's "Uptown Funk". I really like your chart. All three debuts are great songs! Love the #1, though I'm sure since you checked out my last chart you know that already.

December 7th 2014 - American Week
This is the first week of my chart in which the majority of songs are from America. The main reason for this
is that on my side of the ocean, alternative/rock charts are scattered, too underground or stagnant, while the Top 40 is, like it always is, dominated by EDM. The American charts are thus easier to follow, and thus influence my choice of songs. This is the third week Happy Idiot is #1. Again, Lenny Kravitz follows. Sam Smith's I'm Not The Only One surges to #3, Seether's Words As Weapons rebounds to #4, while Interpol's All The Rage Back Home steps down to #5. New in the Top 10 is Echosmith's Cool Kids, which rises #15 to #8. Noticeable rises are made by Dotan, Banks, Cage The Elephant and Mark Ronson. The Smashing Pumpkins enter the chart with One And All, as do Bush with The Only Way Out. Futher entries are for Circa Waves, Adelitas Way and Lorde. December 14th 2014
It is a busy time, and I have to keep this up, so here we go. I minimalised the lay out, because it takes too much time for me to get a nice table format in here, so it'll look slightly less clear, but let's deal with it. For its fourth week, Happy Idiot tops the list, and Sam Smith's I'm Not The Only One rises to #2, followed by All The Rage Back Home, which rebounds to #3. Cage The Elephant and The Smashing Pumpkins enter the top 10. Sole newcomer this week is Bring Me The Horizon's Drown.

This week, TV On The Radio's Happy Idiot reigns for its fifth week, the first song since Fall Out Boy's My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (etc) in january. For its second week, it blocks Sam Smith from the top position. Fall Out Boy's Centuries rises to #3, pushing back Interpol to #4. Uptown Funk jumps to #5, and Banks' Beggin For Thread also enters the Top 10. New on this rather stagnant chart is Foo Fighters' Congregation.
