Happy birthday to Music of the Sun! Today, Rihanna's first studio album was released exactly 9 years ago by Def Jam. The first era of one of today's biggest singers. Tracklist: 01. Pon de Replay | music video
02. Here I Go Again (feat. J-Status) 03. If It's Lovin' That You Want | music video
04. You Don't Love Me (No, No, No) [feat. Vybz Kartel] 05. That La, La, La 06. The Last Time 07. Willing To Wait 08. Music of the Sun 09. Let Me 10. Rush (feat. Kardinal Offishall) 11. There's a Thug in My Life (feat. J-Status) 12. Now I Know 13. Pon de Replay (Remix) [feat. Elephant Man] {bonus track} What are your favorites on this album? :)

Wow! I can't believe she's been around for almost a decade... Funny how most people though she was going to be a one hit wonder, yet she wound up becoming one of the most consistent hit-makers in pop music. Yay Rih!!!
Anyhow, while Music of The Sun is obviously nowhere near her best, I think it has a few gems and I personally prefer it to her second album. My favorites:
"Willing To Wait" - Probably my favorite song on the album. It's such a sexy, slow jam. "Music of The Sun" - This island-flavored ballad is like the precursor to "Te Amo". "There's A Thug In My Life" - I really love this. Another song in that reggae-pop sound Rihanna excels at. "Pon De Replay" - I don't listen to it as much as the other three, but I had to add it for the nostalgia!

Funny you created this today and I told hitseeker yesterday I would prepare a Rihanna video for her hits. I didn't know it was its anniversary today... the beginning of an amazing career. My favorite here is "Pon De Replay" and I like "Music Of The Sun" and "Rush".

The singles ofc and especially the title track are my favourites! "Let Me" is amazing as well...really, this album has com cute songs and it's unfortunately named "a mixtape" and disregarded unfairly. Yes, she has stronger records overall but this one was cute and did its job: introducing Rihanna to the world. Happy 9th Bday, MOTS!

I am addicted to this album cover. I can't stop staring at that pink lipstick. Her face looks so perfect.

"Willing to Wait" is probably one of my favorite songs by her.
I also love "Should I?", which was an international bonus track.

This was a decent album as well. I like the Reggae covers that she did.

Wow, I just skimmed through this album and forgot how much I liked it. Great debut in my opinion. I loved “Pon De Reply and Let Me” most. “Rush” was another favorite of mine. Actually the only song I would skip on this is “Now I Know” and maybe “Here I Go Again”, but their not that bad? I actually like them both more than I thought I did. It was nice revisiting this album.
