Top Album Tracks Heartbreak Town Cold Day in July Both those were singles, not album tracks. Cold Day In July was Top 10. Heartbreak Town should have charted much higher than it did.

Yesterday we had a Dixie Chicks evening, so this comes just in time.
Top 5:
1. Cowboy Take Me Away 2. Not Ready To Make Nice 3. Long Time Gone 4. If I Fall You're Going Down With Me 5. Goodbye Earl
Bottom:
Sin Wagon and probably Wide Open Spaces... I don't hate them, but normally skip them.

Top 5:
Not Ready to Make Nice Travelin' Soldier Godspeed Top of the World Goodbye Earl
Bottom:
Landslide Ready To Run
I stuck to singles, but I'd add Easy Silence and Lullaby to favorites if I included album tracks.

I'm a pretty big Chicks fan. I wasn't wild about them were current, but I've only come to appreciate them more and more with time. Natalie had a truly great voice and their instrumental skills were excellent. They were also perhaps the last big mainstream act to gain widespread commercial appeal with still maintaining an identifiably country sound. I listen to their first three albums fairly regularly and regard Home as a masterpiece. For some reason I've never gotten around to listening to Taking the Long Way yet.
TOP 1. Travelin' Soldier 2. Cold Day in July 3. Goodbye Earl 4. Top of the World 5. Godspeed (Sweet Dreams) (amazing song, but marred only by the fact that I prefer/am more used to Radney Foster's version) 6. You Were Mine 7. Long Time Gone 8. Am I The Only One (Whose Ever Felt This Way) 9. Cowboy Take Me Away 10. Heartbreak Town
BOTTOM (I don't dislike these songs by any means, but if I had to pick least favorites, these would be them) Ready to Run Sin Wagon Some Days You Gotta Dance Hole in My Head Let Er Rip

I absolutely love the Chicks. They have such an amazing catalog of music, especially for only having released 4 albums.
Top singles:
1. The Long Way Around 2. Not Ready To Make Nice 3. Travelin' Soldier 4. There's Your Trouble 5. Long Time Gone 6. Landslide 7. Heartbreak Town 8. Wide Open Spaces 9. If I Fall You're Going Down With Me 10. Cold Day In July 11. You Were Mine 12. Without You 13. Ready To Run 14. Goodbye Earl 15. Godspeed
Top Album Tracks:
1. Am I The Only One Who's Ever Felt This Way 2. Favorite Year 3. Let Him Fly
Bottom Singles:
1. Tonight The Heartache's On Me 2. I Can Love You Better (I guess?)
If "Sin Wagon" or "I Hope" count, they'd knock off "I Can Love You Better".

Love and miss the Chicks. I still hold country radio in contempt for their utter flip of the bird to them during the controversy. Shame on you country radio. Anyways...I've been lucky to see them twice, and ironically both times with George Strait. First time was when they were on tour with him during his festival tours (1998 I think), and last time was a rare show in 2011 when they got together for a full concert (Willie, Dixie Chicks, George) to benefit the wildfires we had locally around Austin. Also, I quite enjoy their live album and often listen to that over the originals.
Favorites: 1. Travelin' Soldier 2. Long Time Gone 3. Goodbye Earl 4. Godspeed (Sweet Dreams) 5. Top of the World 6. You Were Mine 7. Tonight the Heartache's On Me 8. Cold Day In July (although I'm partial to Suzy Bogguss' version) 9. Landslide 10. There's Your Trouble
Least Favorites: Not many to name here other than those that got overplayed, so that would leave "Cowboy Take Me Away," "Ready to Run," and maybe "Wide Open Space."

I can't even believe I never did this. These ladies are better than any Group/Duo/Male or Female solo singers in mainstream country music. The Dixie Chicks are timeless and will always remain among the top of country musics history also the Home Album is the best album of any genre of music ever (In my opinion). Enough stalling this. Top 10: 1. Not Ready To Make Nice (still my all time favorite song ever (every genre included), the production is in tip top shape, the lyrics are simply amazing and effective at what it's trying to convey and the song has a lot more emotions to it than meets the eye, anger, confusion, loss, hopelessness, determination. Also that one part ("Made my bed and sleep like a baby, with no regrets and I don't mind saying, it's a sad sad story when a mother will teach her daughter that she ought to hate a perfect stranger, and how in the world can the words that I say, stick with somebody so over the edge that they'd write me a letter saying that I better shut up and sing or my life will be over). Masterpiece of a song 2. Landslide (a pure bluegrass effort with stunning harmonies) 3. Cowboy Take Me Away (so lovely and that instrumentation ) 4. Goodbye Earl ( so funny) 5. Without You (beautiful and I still can't watch the music video without crying) 6. Traveling Soldier 7. Ready To Run (that video alone guaranteed a spot) 8. Wide Open Spaces 9. You Were Mine 10. I Can Love You Better (greatest opening of music in the 90s)

Just wondering, has anyone heard the Dixie Chicks' very early, pre-Natalie albums? Are they worth getting/listening to?

Just wondering, has anyone heard the Dixie Chicks' very early, pre-Natalie albums? Are they worth getting/listening to? They're not bad, but in my opinion they lack that spark that made the Dixie Chicks what they are. It's worth getting into, but don't expect anything like Home, Taking The Long Way, Wide Open Spaces, or Fly. So do expect more than likely a step down in quality.
