Yes. I've been saying for a while now that radio isn't 'ageist' to be ageist and that they're out to get all artists over 38 or whatever. It's about demographics and appeal of these long-established artists to the main demographic. For an 18 year old, Gwen is yesterday's news. For a 28 year old, Gwen is a goddess. Yeah. I would say her main demographic is 25-40, but she can appeal to youngsters too.

I don't really understand people who are like "But Gwen doesn't LOOK 40+". The issue of ageism at radio seems mostly based on giving priority to newer artists rather than "veteran" acts coupled with the fact that the target demo usually does not harbor any particular affinity for artists older than a certain age because they likely were not old enough to fully grasp their importance. So I don't think it has much to do with looking older than 35. although that certainly factors into the public's perception of a female act attempting a comeback, I don't think looking younger will reverse the ageism at radio. I don't think so. Veterans usually have an easier path to top 40 than newbies, but when you reach certain age is a posibility that you are not trendy anymore. Madonna is a perfect example, she survived so many years (when nobody expected her at the beginning of her career a lifespan further than 1987) because she was on the wave of change. If the accoustic was the tendency she had an accoustic song ready, if electronic sound were the fashion of the week, she had an album full of electronic song with the best producers. Why Give me all your luvin' fail, well because it sound like a Hanna Montana go pop song, as simple as that. Instead of trying something different (if fails people will credited her for the risk) she try to hard to do what everybody was doing with miserable results. It's difficult to reach a certain age with mainstream success because something that is in right now it will be out in a couple of years, and most artist can't or simply don't want to evolve with the new tendencies. That's the reason why a lot of veterans dissapear from the singles chart but still sell a lot of albums, because there's still a market for their music even if doesn't suit the top 40 radio at the moment. And of course a good song can explode at any moment, even if the artist didn't have a top 40 hit in years, like what happened to John Legend with All of me this year

Ummm, this needs to stabilize asap considering those huge radio updates. It's almost out of Top 30 on iTunes. While the song has been getting great daily spin updates, it's overall audience is still low compared to higher charting songs with multi-format exposure. There are likely a number of people who do not know the song is out or have yet to hear it yet. Plus Gwen does not have the young download friendly fan base anymore like Taylor Swift who rush to iTunes to download her latest release. Give it another week or two and hopefully it's audience will continue to grow and this can move back up iTunes again. As of now it looks like will hold inside the top 30 through the end of the day until Taylor's album is released at midnight and everything is pushed down. I am still on the fence whether the label wants "Baby Don't Lie" to go the long haul or if they will pull the plug in a few weeks and push something more edgy like the Calvin Harris track "Together" or the Pharrell track "Spark the Fire". Normally I wouldn't see it this way but the minimal effort that was put into the "Baby Don't Lie" video makes me wonder how much they care about this song's success. In other news, Billboard reviewed the track with a 3 out of 5 star rating. After rumors swirled that Stefani was recording for a solo album and new No Doubt LP, "Baby Don't Lie" is the first taste from the former. Produced by Benny Blanco, Ryan Tedder and Noel Zancanella, the pop cut embraces her less experimental side with middling results -- she's present, but missing her signature bite.--Steven J. Question for anyone who knows....Are Vevo views separate from youtube views? Reason being is "Baby Don't Lie" has about 4.5 million views on Vevo but only about 2 million on youtube.

^Also 5th most added at Rhythmic Top 40 with 7 adds. Not too bad considering it's not tailor made for that format. #everylittlebithelps

I feel like I'm constantly disappointed by Gwen. This is no exception. She and this song can go away.

She's had one good song since "Sweet Escape," that includes everything on that album and everything she's done with No Doubt since then.

lol that The Sweet Escape can be considered better than Early Winter/4ITM/One More Summer/Easy/recent collabos etc.

4ITM pisses all over Sweet Escape. Plus, its not that she's had bucketloads of songs out since then. And I think all of her recent No Doubt singles were better than Sweet Escape.

The New No Doubt cd was a disappointment to me. I only liked two songs. However, this song isn't a disappointment. It gets better with every listen even though it is subtle.

Same thing in NYC. Z100 seems to be hardly playing it (although spins are registering on All Access). I'm actually surprised it is still getting big Radio updates as I never hear it. This makes me think it might stall inside the top 20 a la "Settle Down", "Wind It Up", and "What You Waiting For?" once all stations have added it but refuse to increase it's rotation. On a more positive note, I know a lot of people who have come around on this song and absolutely love it now. Most forums I visit and people I have discussed the song with genuinely like it a lot. More so than some of Gwen's previous singles.

4ITM and Early Winter are obnoxiously phenomenal songs.
