New single probably leading Kendrick's sophomore album hits pop/urban/rhythmic radio Tuesday at 8AM Eastern, according to PlayIGA.

They say it sounds very "Outkast-ish"

Can't say I'm too familiar with Outkast outside "Hey Ya," "The Way You Move," and to a much lesser extent "Ms. Jackson." And a couple Andre features. Are "Hey Ya" and "The Way You Move" a good representation of Outkast's overall work?

Can't say I'm too familiar with Outkast outside "Hey Ya," "The Way You Move," and to a much lesser extent "Ms. Jackson." And a couple Andre features. Are "Hey Ya" and "The Way You Move" a good representation of Outkast's overall work? I think of their hits "Rosa Parks" is probably the most indicative of their overall style. I'd also check out "SpottieOttieDopaliscious" (briefly heard in the "***Flawless" remix), "ATLiens," and "Elevators (Me & You)" for a good idea. Shout to to "Jazzy Belle" featuring Babyface as well. The reason "Hey Ya" and "The Way You Move" aren't fully indicative is because they're actually two solo projects. You can definitely hear the Outkast in each of them, and you can definitely hear the solo styles of Andre 3000 and Big Boi in earlier Outkast material, but they're each missing the full Outkast experience so to speak. Oh, and "Sumthin' Wicked This Way Comes" by TLC f/ Outkast >

The Art of Peer Pressure from his last album is very Outkast-ish. It's very Da Art of Storytellin' (Part 1) (which J. Cole so effortlessly flipped on his Born Sinner album). Also check out Humble Mumble, Skew It On the Bar-B, B.o.b., Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, and Player's Ball. The last 2 especially if Dr. Dre got the 1st single.

How the hell is this Outkast inspired? Black Eyed Peas is more like it. I'm sorry but the sample is cheesy (of all the Isley songs to choose, he chooses to sample a Swiffer commercial). In general the song sounds dated (will.u.not in 2008?) and way subpar for an artist as strong as Kendrick.

It's not terrible, but it's....not what I was expecting. All of the singles from his first album were better.

So good. No one is doing it like Kendrick. Hopefully this isn't too uplifting and feel good for the urban radio wasteland of 2014.

I know this has a Clear Channel deal for urban radio, but does anyone know about the other formats?

I like this. This has been one of my most anticipated releases of the year, I'll definitely give this multiple listens before I really decide what to think of it. It's not as instant as most of the hits from his last album, but it's definitely interesting.
I do get traces of Outkast and mid-00s BEP in this, but the final result is definitely all him.

Most added at Rhythmic with 29 adds. Second most added at Urban with 30 adds.
This sounds so much like a summer song to me that it's a little weird that it's being released in the fall.

OMG. It's a cross between Outkast and Monkey Business era BEP. Hell, any alternative rap act in the last 15 years. I'm not disappointed at all.
