Why bother promoting a song that the label isn't gonna support. Regardless I wish Casey the best. This is kind of contradictory. There was no support, lol. No one was promoting it for the last month. Literally two stations were playing it in medium rotation or higher because they wanted to. It's not all that different than when album cuts chart. For example, "Riser" charted for a few weeks earlier this year, "House Party" and "Break Up With Him" charted for many weeks before they were singles, and Jason Aldean had an album track from each of his last 2 albums chart for a while without ever getting released as singles (those being "This Nothin' Town" and "Sweet Little Somethin'").

Probably a dumb question, but what happens to his old and new music. I assume he can play whatever he wants live, but the recorded versions belong to Sony??? He has a couple of songs I hope he can get the rights to. Not sure if that can happen...

My guess is that Casey would need to buy back the music he recorded for Sony as they own the rights to those songs. Most artists don't, and that's why you see so many of us here saying stuff like "oh man, I would give anything to hear that unreleased album." If Casey gets picked up by another label (likely smaller label), he'll be recording brand new songs for a brand new album.

I would imagine he could sing anything he's released at a concert or anything that hasn't been officially recorded with Sony? This is sad, but expected news. I'm sure he'll get picked up by a small indie label and will keep doing what he loves.
