Even though there were some great songs left on We Are Tonight album (23 Degrees and South, One Way Ticket), they probably made the right decision to release a new single in order to keep up Bill's momentum. Looking at the writers, this song could go either way. I just hope it's not "Sitting on the bed of my truck by the river underneath the stars with two cold beers, that sure sounds good, DON'T IT?". I hope this is more clever like "Don't" or "People Are Crazy".

I'm ready to hear some old-school Billy. His last two were good but you can't beat his classics. Great news!

His "We Are Tonight" album was absolutely flawless. Right up there with "Crickets" for the best album of 2013, in my view. Hope this song is good!

Funny how the further along Billy gets in his career, the slower his #1 hits climb. I predict this will hit #1 in its 60th week or so.

I wonder if Billy will continue to avoid the only blip on his discography ("Tangled Up") or maybe he's due for another. I'm hopeful this isn't like two of his last three lead singles like "Don't" and "Hey Girl" which are my two least favorite songs by Billy by a mile.

It's not "old school Billy." I'll take it at this point. Good song I hope? It's catchy, it should have no problem at radio. It sounds good to my ears but I know my ears aren't like everyone else's... ;)

It's now available on iTunes. Not really a fan of this one. Seems very generic to me and the "on it, don't it" rhyme bothers me a bit lol.

"We Are Tonight" had 10 tremendous songs top to bottom on it, and he chooses this as a lead single for a new album? Can you say Bland? "One Way Ticket", "Wingman", "23 Degrees and South", "Another Day Without You", "Closer Tonight", even "Bannana Pancakes" are all 10 times better than this. Billy is far too talented an artist (and had way too many gems on his previous album) to be releasing boring material like this.

Billy is far too talented an artist (and had way too many gems on his previous album) to be releasing boring material like this. Well I'm sure it was Mercury's call on cutting We Are Tonight off at two singles. Both releases had very long chart runs and a third single would have taken just as long (assuming it would have hit). That would have taken Billy to sometime in early to mid 2015 and Mercury just didn't want to risk another release and delay new music. Even though I agree that Billy had some quality songs on We Are Tonight, I'm not so confident any of them would have done well enough (Top 10) and been a big seller digitally. Mercury obviously felt the same way. Not saying they are 100% doing the right thing but this is just how some labels operate. Now for the song; I like how it sounds but I agree on the lyrics being substandard. At least it's better than his last lead single "Hey Girl" which is my least favorite Billy song ever. It will be interesting to see how quickly or slowly this moves up the chart and if "Hey Girl" and "We Are Tonight" has done enough for his momentum.

Well I was pretty much right about the lyrics lol This is nowhere near as good as One Way Ticket or 23 Degrees And South, but it's miles better than Hey Girl. I think the song is pretty catchy, and It will really grow on me, but I agree that this won't do to much to his image. Just another easy going bro-lite song.
Edit: Also, this might be too obscure for this thread, but does anyone else hear the instrumental in this being similar to "Dance Hall Days" by Wang Chung?

I like this one quite a bit, although it's not nearly as good as "One Way Ticket" from his most recent album. Still, this is a catchy radio-friendly song. It's not really anything new--just a breezy, carefree, good-natured tune, and lord knows we've had plenty of those recently. But with that said I do like this one. Billy's vocal is very good and the song is infectious. My only problem with it is that the hook is sort of week. After just 1 listen to the song, I'm not really sure that the casual listener would pick up on the fact that the song is called "Don't It". It's not a very obvious title and people might simply refer to it as "that new song from Billy Currington".

Billy's last lead single rhymed "Girl" with "Girl" throughout the chorus. This lead single rhymes "It" with "It" throughout the chorus". It's still better than "Hey Girl" though so I'll take it.

"We Are Tonight" > "Don't It" > "Hey Girl"
This is pretty average. It has a nice groove to it, but the lyrics are weak and never interest me. Billy can do a lot better than this.

Any word on a new album for Billy in 2015? This is the first single from a new album, so I would guess that we'll see the album sometime this spring. I haven't heard any specifics about the album other than the fact that Billy went back into the studio last fall already. Really the only article I can find is this one from The Boot, in which Billy says he's going to be hitting the road in the spring with new music.

Thanks. I can't find any references to an album release date either, although he is on Tim McGraw's tour this spring/summer.

This song is the quintessential safe and radio-friendly lead single. The song is upbeat. It's catchy. It's non-controversial. Plus it has the production and sound that country radio has been eating up lately. Billy sounds great as ever, unfortunately this song is about as vanilla a song that he could have released. I literally zone out when this comes on the radio. I don't mind the occasional catchy harmless song, but this one just screams we want the most assured chance of a hit right now.
It might grow one me as the weeks past but right now I just crave repeats of "We Are Tonight" on my speakers.

I at least felt that "Hey Girl" and "We Are Tonight" had flavor to them. The former had some wah-wah guitar and was in the seldom-used Dorian mode; the latter sounded like a countrified version of "The Adventure" by Angels & Airwaves. But this song just feels really generic and bland to me.
