So, I was watching one of the Vevo lift videos Chase has done over the last month and on it he admitted more or less that the songs/sounds that brought him into the country spotlight (only way i can think to word it) isn't exactly him. He was doing what he thought people wanted to hear as well as what he thought was popular and would bring him success. While it has brought him success he isn't truly happy with it all. At least that's what I got from it. But he plans with his second major label album to be a lot more true to himself with his songs and is generally excited about the next chapter. He has the support of Eric Church and Kenny Chesney who have encouraged him to be himself rather than what he has done telling him that he'll be a lot happier with his music and what he's doing if he is. I'm curious to hear the "real" Chase Rice. I say that as someone who enjoyed a good portion of his album but loved the more serious tracks more than anything (Carolina Can/Look at my Truck/Jack Daniels & Jesus to name a few).
Also with the Vevo Lift they have released a new live video for Gonna Wanna Tonight. I hope that the songs you mentioned are more of what we see, because I feel like he has some quality material (those songs in particular) and I would love to see him release some of those kinds of songs.

That's really great. That video gave me a new-found respect for Chase. I figure it's pretty easy to get caught up in everything when you're just starting out. He was a writer on "Cruise" after all, and you can't really blame him for wanting to stick with that success. Good for him to getting back to his roots. Can't wait to hear what his next album sounds like. Between this revelation, Jerrod Niemann's release, and Luke Bryan's promise for his upcoming album...we may actually be headed in the right direction...

I give him credit for admitting that his music hasn't been him, and I wish that more people (well males) would admit that their music isn't the best and that they're following trends instead of defending their music as "evolutionary". I could tell that Chase wasn't really "comfortable" singing his bro hits when I saw him live. He's been sounding more like someone who you could root for lately but I'll have to wait and see if he makes good on those promises

Here is another instalment in the vevo-Lift series. The IMO 2nd best track on "Ingnite The Nite": "Carolina Can". Enjoy!

Now all we need is for FGL and Cole Swindell to record less party songs and more sentimental songs.

I wonder if the cocky attitude he had on Twitter (calling detractors "retarded" and telling them to "suck it", saying "well I guess I'll keep selling out arenas with my s**tty ass non-country music" was also an affectation that doesn't reflect who he really is.

I've always liked his more serious songs better. From My Old Man, Beats a Million Bucks, and Die Tryin' from his Country as Me album. To The Little Things and Jack Daniels and Jesus from Dirt Road Communion. So I am hoping he moves more that direction as it seems he was hinting at.

"Gonna Wanna Tonight" officially enters Billboard's Bubbling Under chart at #24, which is equivalent to #124 on the Hot 100. Potentially on track to become his 2nd Hot 100 entry ("Ready Set Roll" peaked at #54 in 2014).

How far more will this go? It's top 20 on Billboard.

How far more will this go? It's top 20 on Billboard. Who knows anymore. Top 15 seems a lock at this point, but any further is anybody's guess. Maybe this could be the first 60 week chart topper!

This is looking to probably make the top 10, but who knows if it will go any higher.
Any thoughts on the next single? I'd love "Carolina Can" but I'm expecting "Do It Like This."

I expect this to be the last single from 'Ignite the Nite', and for his next single release to be the lead single from his next album.

Depends on what Chase and his partners decide but I could see them going one more with this album and drop a new single next spring (March) for a summer 2015 album release date.

I'm so sick of Chase Rice hogging up chart space with his subpar songs. Can this song be done already? It's pretty obvious that this won't reach #1, let alone top 5. I wouldn't be surprised if this is still charting in December/January for just a top 10 peak...

I wouldn't be surprised if this is still charting in December/January for just a top 10 peak... It won't be charting in January, I can assure you. Singles usually move up the chart more swiftly one they reach the top 10-15 as get converted to higher rotation, thus accelerating the burn rate. The reason songs take so long to move through the 50's, 40's and 30's is because it is so congested in that area of the chart. I think this can hang on for a few more weeks and I wouldn't doubt a top 5 finish here but we'll see. I'm with you in not enjoying this song and I'm anxiously awaiting it to leave. I don't think I've heard this song all the way through since last winter, since I change the station every time it comes on.

Surprisingly I don't hate this. I think that the lyrics to the chorus, while maybe not a candidate for the Clint Black Award for Clever Lyrics, are not as inane as some have made it out to be, with the interplay of the rhymings and implied meanings with "wanna" and "gonna".
Musically the groove of the song reminds me a lot of "Dirt" which btw is the ONLY FGL song that doesn't get a station change within the first six notes for me. This song lacks in comparison to Dirt by not having a soaring chorus, or even one that maybe gets a running start and jumps, flapping its wings like mad.

Is this the longest a song has taken to reach the top 10, assuming it will on Billboard next week in its 46th week? I think the longest charted song ever was "Love Like Crazy" or "Outta My Head", correct me if I am wrong please. Does Chase have a shot at charting longer then 56 weeks? Does "Gonna Wanna Tonight" have a top 5 run in it? I know thats a lot of questions but everyone on Pulse has been super nice and full of information since I joined, thanks for all the help.

First, welcome to Pulse Music Board, straitouttanashville. Second, 46 weeks to reach top ten for Love Like Crazy, the biggest hit of 2010 despite reaching a peak of #3.

"Love Like Crazy" was the longest charting song at 56 weeks, although GWT doesn't have a chance to break that record. It is a likely candidate to break the record for slowest climb to #1, though, as it's on pace to reach the penthouse in 53 weeks. "Voices" currently holds the record for longest interrupted climb to the top (51 weeks, spaced out over two chart runs) and "Let It Rain" holds the record for longest uninterrupted climb to #1 (49 weeks).

By this point, I feel quite confident this will go to #1. It's going up right ahead of Sony label-mates Old Dominion and Carrie Underwood so as long as the bottom doesn't just fall out of this there should be no trouble. Sales are solid when you take into account age of the song and the fact that a lot of fans are just buying Chase's whole album since it's only $5. The burn rate is getting up there on some of the research surveys (roughly a quarter of listeners on Bullseye Callout and Callout America), but that's only because this has taken so long to gain traction on the charts. After ten months I'm surprised more than a quarter of listeners aren't tired of hearing this on the radio.
"Ready Set Roll" was even younger than this and it hit a ceiling at #5, but it had terrible timing, as the Top 5 was a madhouse last fall. We had an extremely competitive batch of songs that were all really huge hits and got to really high levels of airplay. If the competition had been a bit lighter like it is now Chase might've had an easier time getting to #1. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

As of this week's Billboard Country Airplay chart, I count 42 songs that have peaked in the Top 10 in 2015 (for purposes of this calculation, I am assuming that all non-descending songs below "Crash And Burn" will continue to rise and have not yet peaked). Here is the breakdown:
#1 - 31 songs #2 - 4 songs #3 - 5 songs #9 - 2 songs
So 74% of the songs that have entered the Top 10 this year peaked at #1, while 95% peaked in the Top 3.
Given the current "revolving door" at #1 (31 #1 songs in 37 weeks) and the statistics above, I'd say "Gonna Wanna Tonight" has a very good chance of peaking at #1, and a great chance of peaking at #1, #2 or #3.

After 45+ weeks on the BB chart, I agree that this cringe-worthy tune is indeed WAAAAAAASAAYYYYYYY past its expiration date, but it had plenty of company in that regard.
I don't know how much longer Sony Nashville will commit to promoting this junk given the exceptional singles by Carrie and that great debut single from Old Dominion (getting significant airplay for many of them is another issue altogether), but if this disappears from radio within the next month that would be in the words of Jimmy Fallon friggin' awesome!!!!!
His only innovation is his skill in alienating lots of folks by seeing himself as a country music visionary--definitely in his own mind but nowhere else.

Chase co-hosts Country Countdown USA October 10 & 11. This schedule isn't always perfectly indicative of the #1/"final push" schedule, but in this situation Chase seems likely to peak the week following his co-hosting. GWT is really running out of steam and Sony can't afford to keep holding Old Dominion and Carrie Underwood behind this.
If Chase pushes for #1 the week of October 12-18, he'll basically be up against Luke Bryan's "Strip It Down." "Anything Goes" will still be in the picture but that one continues to move very steadily through the top-10 so Chase should have no trouble pushing ahead of FGL for the week of his final push. The real challenge will be fighting Luke Bryan, who's ahead of Chase on Mediabase by over a thousand spins and eight million audience today. It would take a "Love You Like That"-style push to get Chase to #1, which isn't entirely impossible, but we've never seen anything like it from Sony's promotion teams.
Chase's song running out of steam does explain why Sony was pushing Kenny so aggressively last week and the week before. I guess they were hoping to block either Chris or Keith so Kenny could start dropping this week, accelerating the #1 schedule and increasing Chase's odds of getting to #1.

This couldn't have picked a worse week for a #1 push (assuming the push comes next week). Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line? Chase doesn't stand a chance. He may end up with a #3 peak here, possibly a #2 on one or both charts but I'd be shocked if this got to #1.

Yes, but #3 is way higher than I expected this to peak at. Now with Kenny going down the charts, its honestly time to finish this one up and throw the support behind Carrie and Old Dominion.

Chase co-hosts Country Countdown USA October 10 & 11. Wonder how many times ol' Lethargic Lon had to hit the bleep button. Any comments like "if you don't @#$@#$ing like my @#$@#$!ing music, you're an #$@#$@#!#$ing retard with no #$@#$!ing taste"?
