"Open Wide" Written by Calvin Harris and Big Sean Produced by Calvin Harris "Open Wide" is the third instant grat (second in the UK and Ireland) from Calvin Harris's fourth studio album Motion, which features Big Sean and it was available WW on October 27. It's the vocal version of his previous track "C.U.B.A" and you can listen to this song here. Audio:• Out now on iTunes.
{Original Post}Third instant grat (or next single if it's taken into consideration the information from Music Week?) from Calvin Harris's upcoming album Motion. Called it!

Ahh so that's why "C.U.B.A" wasn't included on the album. This is okay. "C.U.B.A." is much better without vocals, or a rap at least.

I liked it better when it was just "C.U.B.A".

Oh no! What are you doing Calvin Harris? At least "Drinking From The Bottle" featuring Tinie Tempah was tolerable. And I agree what some of you said here regarding C.U.B.A. being better without vocals.

These are some of the worst lyrics ever. Much better when it was C.U.B.A.

at people clamoring and saying that C.U.B.A. was shit but are now saying, "Hey it was a lot better without vocals." No. No it wasn't. I will say that the ballerina going off during the shoot out is an ill concept.

I still love this, but it was better as an instrumental. I'm glad he went with Big Sean instead of a singer though.

I will join the bandwagon saying that this is the reason why "C.U.B.A" wasn't included on Motion. Anyway, I don't think it's too bad and it could have been worse honestly. I mean, I'm not a fan of doing vocal versions over instrumental tracks, but at least Big Sean isn't singing/rapping on the drop. That's good.
Anyway, this means that Calvin is going to replace Florence + the Machine's "You've Got the Love" vocals on "C.U.B.A" during his DJ sets in favour of "Open Wide". Oh!

From BuzzJack Music Forum: 22 Ed Sheeran - Sing 24 OneRepublic - I Lived * 25 Maroon 5 - Animals 29 Calvin Harris feat. Big Sean - Open Wide * 30 OneRepublic - Love Runs Out ^ This is the Thursday update in the UK and "Open Wide" is expected to debut at #29 there. Also, it should be taken into consideration that it didn't appear in the midweek update, so it may still climb, since it's currently at #4 on the UK iTunes.

Surely this has more sales comparatively than other album tracks since this was a promo single and has a video.

I'm not sure if you're trying to say that the reason why it debuted/climbed high was mainly because of the pre-orders on iTunes. If it's the case, it should be considered that iTunes can make some differences between instant grats benefitting the album and the ones which are being purchased solely for the track. However, I agree with the latter, despite that didn't benefit "Slow Acid" as much as this

Sean's on a roll right now and "Outside" is poppy as hell, so I don't it's a bad idea to try for some easy, additional airplay at Rhythmic right now.
This is actually hotter than I initially remember too.

So glad they're sending this to radio. Would it be crazy to think this could potentially get some spins at pop?

Would it be crazy to think this could potentially get some spins at pop? Not at all - it had at least seven pop radio adds by the end of the last year, before "Outside" was announced there ("Pray To God" has had a few as well).

Well, I still consider this as one of my least favourite songs from Motion, but I can't deny that this has grown on me and it's a guilty pleasure. The lyrics are too suggestive in my opinion, so maybe they could try with a clean version, although I don't think that it has one actually and his label may not plan to do it. I could be wrong though.
Having said that, when the song debuted in the UK and stayed for two weeks inside the Top 40 there, BBC Radio 1 refused to play it during the Official Chart Show because of the aforementioned and a brief part of the drop was played instead. Obviously, the UK audience isn't similar to the US audience, so I don't think it's going to have any problem in this format, since "Open Wide" received its first play in the US, as far as I remember.
On the other side, if it has success in this format, Columbia may try to make a dual release again with "Pray to God" and "Dollar Signs" to the CHR/Pop format and the Rhythmic format, respectively, if it's considered that the former has the best shot to be released in that one when "Outside" is done, while Tinashe has done really well on the latter.

So glad they're sending this to radio. Would it be crazy to think this could potentially get some spins at pop? Anything Calvin Harris releases will be a pop radio hit. Literally anything. His music is perfect for pop radio, no matter who the vocalist is. Open Wide won't be anywhere near as big as I Don't Fuck With You though, I think Calvin should've gone for the Gwen Stefani or HAIM collab instead, as then he'd get HAC and AC airplay.

This has actually quietly turned into one of my favorites from the album. Something about it is addicting. It's a grower, that's for sure.
