"Wade Bowen" is a very impressive album. There's a lot of different sounds going on and it all works. Wade slows it down a little ("Hungover"), cranks it up a bit ("When It's Reckless"), and even adds a little Spanish touch ("Welcome Mat").
The clear standouts are "Watch Her Drive", "Hungover", "West Texas Rain", and "Long Enough to Be a Memory". I can see "Sun Shines on a Dreamer" growing on me a lot too. This is absolutely one of the best albums of 2014. 4.5/5
P.S. - After listening to the beautiful "West Texas Rain", an advertisement for "Sun Daze" came on and the change in tone/mood was jarring.

I haven't checked it out yet, but it's definitely on my to-do list once I have a little more free time. His The Given album was incredible. Wade is seriously talented and I really wish he could get another chance on a major label. |

Wade is seriously talented and I really wish he could get another chance on a major label. "The Given" was already top of the crop and "Wade Bowen (2014)" is even better. The mood is a little bit somber IMO but works perfectly. The songs' texture and "feel" is rich and deep. "Hungover" is just so great. Enjoy! |
