"Girl Crush" will probably get bumped back to #3 on iTunes sometime within the next day or so, as its neck and neck with Walk The Moon's "Shut Up And Dance". There's a big gap back to #4, though, so I bet LBT won't fall any lower than #3 on iTunes. Walk The Moon sold 150,000 last week, and the #1 song, Wiz Khalifia & Charlie Puth's "See You Again", sold 395,000 copies. I figure that SYA will sell at least another 350,000 this week, and "Girl Crush" is currently pretty steady at about 44% of what SYA is selling. In the first 12 hours directly after the ACM's, Little Big Town got up to 55% of what SYA was selling then. Maybe "Girl Crush" will end the week still around 35-40% of what SYA is selling, which would probably mean it'll sell about 45% of what SYA will sell this week. That could mean that "Girl Crush" could be looking at selling 150,000 to 160,000 copies this week. That's just a rough math projection though, based largely off of how "See You Again" and "Shut Up And Dance" sold in the last week. I'd imagine that "Shut Up And Dance" sill stay pretty steady though--in the week ending April 12, it sold 135,000, and in the week ending April 19, it sold 150,000, so I'll bet that one will be around 150,000 again, maybe even a bit higher, and so far, 2 1/2 days into the new sales week, "Girl Crush" has been out-selling "Shut Up And Dance" in each and every kworb update (which measure iTunes popularity bars). LBT and Walk The Moon were virtually even as of 2 hours ago.

#19 it is and no Chris Young: I said this in the Girl Crush thread: Girl Crush should break the top 20 next week when Cole Swindell leaves. Could go one more to #19 if Chris Young leaves as well (not sure about that one). You have it at #19 as well. Thanks for doing the predictions one more time. You're the bomb!

Love this song but I keep seeing people say this should be pushed to pop. Granted I'm not exactly well versed in other genres , & I could see the edgier lyrics going over well , but to me this seems pretty far removed from the pop music world. Musically , to me this sounds more like something that would have went over well there..... 35 years ago.

I could see this making a little dent in CHR, but it doesn't sound like a smash crossover hit to me, either. Retro-y songs are kind of "in" at CHR, and it's a format that is open to a lot of different sounds, but I couldn't see it doing much on that format. I could see maybe a peak in the 20's like "Wanted" or "This Is How We Roll" being the highest it'd go, and even that'd be optimistic, I think. And I can't really see LBT wanting or caring to try for it anyway.

This song is awesome and I want to buy it, but unfortunately it isn't available in my country (Spain) and I don't know why :( Have you checked the album out? It's definitely worth a listen and trebor's idea of ordering the whole thing on Amazon is a good one, especially if you'd enjoy other songs on it.

This is going to crossover. Goes for Hot AC adds on May 4. About time. Now, it's going to create a bigger buzz. Good for Little Big Town. Should be their second #1 country hit!

I always have. "Wanted" stalled below Top 20 and I felt that sounded like it had more potential than "Girl Crush" does at CHR. Other pretty big hits like "Just a Kiss" and "This Is How We Roll" peaked below Top 20 there, too. "Wanted" and "Just a Kiss" did a lot better on Hot AC/AC though, and I expect the same to happen with "Girl Crush" (if it even gets a CHR push, since apparently it's only reported as going for Hot AC adds at the moment).

I feel like this will need a slight remix to make a dent on any other format. The minimal production works really well for it, but by having a little more backing the track, I could see this becoming a hit on HAC/AC/CHR. But as is, I don't think this will be as big of a hit as some of you do.

This is a stellar song, but I just don't quite see how it can be selling this well. There are maybe four or five country songs that have come this close to #1 on the iTunes chart in the past year. "Play It Again" peaked at #3 and "This Is How We Roll" peaked at #5 the week after the ACM's 2014. "Burnin' It Down" and "Dirt" climbed to #1 when they were first released to iTunes and Aldean's song did spend most of its chart run in the top 10, but that's about all the examples I can think of. There must be something I'm missing. Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean are the format's biggest stars, so it makes sense why their songs were able to peak so high based on name recognition, and I understand why this would be a great seller, but I'm still perplexed to see the Callout scores reflect some degree of polarization around this song and it still be the second most downloaded song on iTunes. This doesn't even have the cross-format appeal that other songs like "Take Your Time" or "This Is How We Roll" might have aside from some pretty pop-sounding production, so I'm curious who is buying this and why. jhomes87 and dm2081 covered a lot of it, I think -- "Girl Crush" got major national exposure on two music television shows last week ( The Voice via the Meghan Lindsey cover and the ACMs, a performance which Little Big Town nailed), it has built up enough radio exposure now that the live performances converted to sales at a higher rate than may have been the case had the exposure come earlier, now it has built up a head of steam that will keep it going for a little while, and the high callout negatives have no relevance on the number of people willing to buy the song, because people who dislike the song can't contribute negative sales. The sales do correlate with the high percentage of people (women in particular) who, in callout surveys, consider "Girl Crush" a favorite. And those are the people buying the song. Even though the country downloads market peaked a few years ago, the notion that people who are mainly or entirely country fans aren't as active in the downloads market as fans of other genres is obsolete these days. The country market was slower to embrace digital downloads, but has done so, to the point that even the right traditional-sounding country songs can get downloads support. Now, it's streaming that the country market has been slower to embrace (though streaming has cut into the sales of some of the format's biggest names). I'm especially pleased to see a song that is so completely focused on a female point of view resonating within the country market. It's past time for the mainstream country radio to re-acknowledge that market interest in the female perspective extends beyond the music of superstars Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert; that point of view has gone largely suppressed at country radio in favor of the depiction of women (by male artists & songwriters) as subservient and empty objects. Ideally, "Girl Crush" would be the game changer that galvanizes support for female points of view to the point that country radio can't ignore them. But I'm hesitant to abandon my cynicism about country radio. In any event, I'm really pleased that such a high risk, high reward release is indeed garnering high rewards. And it makes sense for Capitol Nashville to see if "Girl Crush" can be Little Big Town's "Need You Now" or "If I Die Young." I think it's an unusual yet accessible enough lyrical conceit to catch on at the pop formats, which target the very demos where "Girl Crush" is testing especially well. It would certainly be fun to see it explode into an even bigger hit than it already is.

Over the past week, I've been revisiting this song in hopes that much like radio, I would finally come around to this. Luckily, I have. It's still not close to being my favorite ballad of theirs, but I very much appreciate the strong songwriting and the boundaries it seems to be pushing with radio. And certainly, any success LBT sees is more than okay in my book as they are one of the most talented acts in any genre of music, in my opinion.

I think this can be a hit on other formats--maybe not as big as "Need You Now", but I can see it doing pretty well. The pop format is open to an even bigger variety of sounds/styles than country radio is. CHR will play dance, pop, rock, R&B, rap...they're not allergic to female voices or ballads either. "Girl Crush" certainly has a slow tempo but if it's selling (and we know it is) and if it gets a decent push from the label, then I think CHR will get behind it, at least moderately.

I mainly listen to CHR radio , I think this one will do decently with label push to the pop formats, little mixes won't hurt its cause, definitely. ETA: staying on top10 iTunes all genres and social media presence will seal the deal.

What are you all thinking for the next single? After listening to the album again, my vote goes to "Good People." As has been discussed a lot here, Girl Crush sounds completely different from everything else on country radio. Good People continues the trend of LBT pushing the boundaries of country music but this time, with a more up-tempo song.

^^^I am betting they will wait as they are featured in Miranda's next single "Smokin' and Drinkin'". It's rumored to be getting released in June.

I think we still have quite a while before it's time to pick a next single, but my choice would be "Pain Killer". Nothing on the record is going to be as big as "Girl Crush" is obviously, and I think their next single could struggle just a bit with sales due to living in the preceding single's shadow (much like "Say You Do" hasn't been nearly as big of a seller as "Drunk On A Plane"). That's why I would release a song that is really radio friendly, and "Pain Killer" personally just stood out to me the most. However, If I was placing bets, I'd bet on "Quit Breaking Up With Me" being next. For what's it worth, when I saw them perform a couple weeks ago, they played "Pain Killer", "Quit Breaking Up With Me", and "Faster Gun", besides the two singles off their recent album.

It is very rare for a featured artist to stop promotion of their own singles to radio in the middle of an album era. Taylor Swift did it with Red, but I can't think of any other examples, unless the single is a true joint-single between two artists where it's a duet featured on both artist's albums. As for the next single, I vote for either "Quit Breaking up with Me" or "Pain Killer." Both of those would do very well, imo.

They filmed a video for Painkiller already late last year, I think, it was down in the Dominican Republic or Virgin Islands. They filmed it close to the time they did Girl Crush. They talked about when the album came out about Painkiller being a "summer song" that they wanted to be a single for this coming summer. I tend to think since the video is already filmed and done that it'll be a single at some point. Though I am really loving Good People, Save Your Sin, Quit Breaking Up With Me, Tumble and Fall and Life Forever. I'd honestly be happy with any of those songs, yes I realize SYS is probably not radio friendly but you know, I could handle any of those being single along with Painkiller.

I'm all for either "Tumble And Fall", "Good People", or "Pain Killer". I'm not a big fan of "Quit Breaking Up With Me" so as long as it's not that one lol
"Faster Gun" would actually be my pick but I can't see that being released. :(

I'd be surprised if it was anything but "Quit Breaking Up With Me," "Good People" or "Pain Killer" as the next single. "Tumble And Fall" is too long for radio. "Stay All Night" could be a wildcard option.

"Tumble and Fall" is just too good of song to be ignored IMO. It's my 4th favorite song on the album, right behind "Turn The Lights On", "Faster Gun", and "Save Your Sin" and I don't see any of those three being singles. "Good People" is cute but definitely not single material. I could see "Pain Killer" being released for the summer months. I love "Quit Breaking Up With Me" but have never really been rooting for it as a single.

I personally think it's the perfect follow up to "Crush" but "Pain Killer" is deserving too.

Does anyone know if they have anymore planned performances of this song?
I hope this song crosses over to pop, I think it would do great.
