Reminds me of "Something in the Water". Both wildly successful songs, with crossover success (in their own right). But country airplay just doesn't stack up proportionally for some odd and unexplained reason.

Reminds me of "Something in the Water". Both wildly successful songs, with crossover success (in their own right). But country airplay just doesn't stack up proportionally for some odd and unexplained reason. Well, both did have poor callout scores. Obviously, callouts are problematic for two reasons: 1) the methodology is awful and the samples aren't sufficiently random/scientifically valid 2) they're a self-fulfilling prophecy in the sense that radio will cultivate an audience based on what it's playing, and those people may be averse to things that sound different from the norm. But to the extent that callout data is ultimately still one of the best sources of intelligence about what listeners like, it would technically "explain" an aversion at radio. I don't know that the data is published anywhere, but I'd also imagine granular ratings data was lukewarm, at best, on these songs. A lot of shady/annoying stuff goes down at radio, but I just can't imagine stations (which are businesses) deliberately hesitating to play songs from big names (particularly in Carrie's case) that had BIG audience engagement. (Regarding crossover - it's also worth noting that Girl Crush is testing poorly with Hot AC listeners. It's weird. We know people like this song; sales were not only good but always saw huge spikes whenever this received mainstream exposure. But that love isn't manifesting in radio audience data).

Man, this song continues to fall like a bomb that just exploded after falling from #2 two weeks ago. Last week it fell all the way to #10 and this week with Canaan Smith the only one leaving the Mediabase Chart in the top 30, this song still falls from #10 to #25 since last Sunday. In my days of chart tracking, I have never seen a song drop that far down the Mediabase chart since 2013 when George Strait did the same with "Give It All We Got Tonight". "Girl Crush" has lost over 2,400 spins since last Sunday and since peaking at #2, they have lost so far 5,045 spins, now that's a lot of spins lost and audience they have lost is astounding too. Since last Sunday, the song has lost like 13 mil in audience, whereas since peaking at #2, it has lost over 33 mil in audience. These are signs of how hard the song has fell in the past 2 weeks, radio was surely ready to turn lose this song. It will be gone from Mediabase next Sunday. One more week of "GC" on Mediabase then it's out the door next Sunday.

I'm predicting "Quit Breaking Up With Me" as the 3rd single.

does anybody think Painkiller will be a single eventually? I love the song but I doubt it would be the next single because it's a summer song, and would probably peak in the winter. :/

Radio doesn't want a whole setlist full of midtempo and ballads in the winter months (especially these days lol). I'm not really sure what's taking so long here seeing how "Girl Crush" won't be seeing a lot of recurrent play. I think they could at least announce the next single already, and give it an adds date of late August or early September.

I've been told by a pretty good source that "Quit Breaking Up With Me" will be the next single. It got its 1st add on Monday (KSCS in Dallas). I haven't started a thread yet though because I was waiting for official confirmation, and my source also said he wasn't 100% sure.

During CMA Fest, LBT played "Pain Killer" (which was the only non-single any band played) and it was introduced as their "current smash hit." Weird either way. I prefer "Quit" over "Pain" anyway.

I did see that. My source told me that it was between the 2 of them and that lately they've been leaning toward "Quit Breaking Up With Me". I'm sure we'll hear something within the next week.

Regardless of which one comes first, I hope "Quit Breaking up with Me" and "Pain Killer" are singles #3 and #4. That'd be a perfect singles era, imo.

Probably in the minority here, but I hope the title track is chosen next. "Quit Breaking Up With Me" definitely sounds like a hit, but I can see myself burning out on QBUWM much quicker than PK.

Lol, if they actually released "Live Forever" as the next single, The Band Perry wouldn't be too happy...

I love both songs, and I was expecting "Pain Killer" to be released since it was the title track and sounded radio-friendly enough, but I would actually prefer "Tumble and Fall" to be released as well since I adore that one. It personally sounds pretty radio friendly to me, but I will say that when I saw them live back in March, it didn't seem to get the crowd going that much. It's so hard predicting what LBT songs will do good on the charts and at radio, since their relationship with both has always been quite tumultuous in terms of successful singles. As far as my favorites, I would absolutely love for "Turn The Lights On" or "Save Your Sin" to get released, but I'm sure that won't happen since it's pretty clear that those songs would be too overwhelming for country radio. "Faster Gun" is another favorite of mine from the record and I would kill for that as a single as well, but again, it's probably too overwhelming for radio as well.

This will still outsell pontoon, Come award season and possible win and performances.
