Agreed! I love me some Lorrie Morgan...from 89's "Out of Your Shoes" to 97's "Good as I Was to You." I even liked "Maybe Not Tonight" which may be an unpopular opinion itself. I'm sure we'll see Lorrie Morgan's songs featured in Cody Wants Out... 's upcoming 90's Rankdowns! I also have to mention that her Merry Christmas from London album is absolutely a must listen..."My Favorite Things" and "Sleigh Ride" are possibly my two favorite versions of those songs. I love Lorrie Morgan's style. She had a very lush and "New York" kind of feel to her that I never really heard from any other country artist. She seemed to tone it down a little in the later 90s, but still had some very above-average songs like "Good as I Was to You". And "Something in Red" is one of my favorite songs ever. However, "My Favorite Things" is NOT A CHRISTMAS SONG and I refuse to let anyone tell me otherwise. Ok. Billboard is here to tell you how it became one though. Mystery Solved: Here's How 'My Favorite Things' From 'The Sound of Music' Became a Christmas Song

Christmas music should not be played after 12 AM December 26th. I have 7 stations here still playing it in heavy rotation today.

I think playing Christmas music is fair game until January 1st. My family still hasn't even had our big dinner yet. That will be tomorrow.

Some is ok but not more than 50% of the songs after Christmas. And especially not Santa Claus Is Coming To Town. That's not for another 364 days!

Outside of a few very few Christmas songs, I can't stand Christmas music. I also agree with everything gardyfan said. Once Christmas is over radio should stop playing Christmas music or at the very least really cut back. I would be pretty pissed off if like tomorrow I heard Christmas music still non stop or over 50% of the time.

Anyways some more of my own unpopular opinions.
The last truly great Blake Shelton song for me would be "Over". I'm not kidding I love that song.
I like Eric Church a lot as an artist but outside of "Kill A Word" none of his latest singles besides that have left me very impressed.
LANco is probably one of my very favorite artists to break out this year. I am so pumped for their debut album.
Russell Dickerson's debut album was really solid imo. I'm excited for his second single whatever it may be.
Walker Hayes on the other hand is one of my least favorite artists and his album was horrid, like one of the worst albums I've ever heard.
For as much as I love women in country music (some of my favorite artists this year were Runaway June, Carly Pearce, and Lauren Alaina), if I don't like the song I don't want that song to succeed on the charts (current example would be "We've Got Something They Don't" and "New Year's Day" come to mind) regardless if the singer is male or female.

I would probably tolerate it a bit longer if they hadn't completely stopped played the older stuff I like the last few years. And not found it necessary to play Kelly Clarkson, Mariah Carey, etc instead.

Jennifer Nettles accent really annoys me on most Sugarland songs.

I love Sugarland....I grew up with people who talk like that... So did I, and I live in the South so it's not like I'm not surrounded by accents already as it is. But Jennifer's has never sounded good to me in her music, and I've never been a fan of her vocals at all.

Carrie Underwood's new pop song with Ludacris is better than the majority of her last album, which was her most lackluster yet.

She really has no (to me) musical identity. After American Idol she was just "handled"...and shoved into stardom without developing a sound of her own. And that's really sad because she has such a phenomenal voice. She's never been musically believable to me...(that won't make sense to so many people)

Had they waited any longer, Carrie Underwood would have been swept under the carpet by the 2006 winner of American Idol. That's the problem with those singing contests. The winners (and even some of the losers) don't have time to develop a sound or stage presence. That's done the old-fashioned way.

I somewhat agree on Carrie. She is amazingly hit and miss. I do appreciate that she understands that just because you can belt, doesn't mean you have to do it on every freaking song. And I actually liked a lot of the last album. Jay Joyce was a far better match for her than I would have imagined, and the tracks with Zach Crowell were pretty well produced too.
More:
* "I Ain't Your Mama" by Maggie Rose is one of the worst country songs of the 21st century.
* I have liked all of the singles off Cole Swindell's second album.
* Mary Chapin Carpenter's best songs are "House of Cards" and "The Hard Way". Also, all of her post-Party Doll and Other Favorites output has sucked, because it feels like she's just re-releasing "Almost Home" over and over.

I'm quite sure you've mentioned this point before; as a fan of Mary Chapin Carpenter I often find some of her best work has come after the songs you mentioned (nor is everything a repeat of "Almost Home"). My memory can't help but take me back to Sturgill Simpson and your opinion of him...you seem to have this inability to emotionally connect with a lyric or song. Mary Chapin's songs and albums (especially beginning with 2004's Between Here and Gone and after) deal with life as it is...not always happy, often melancholy, and yet always being in the moment. Listening to her songs might often feel like you're looking back on your own decisions in life...and yet if you listen closely to Mary Chapin you'll also discover something new about the journey you're on and all the roads not yet taken. All this to say...I don't think you get any point of what these kind of songs reflect on.

The following is related to the way that country listeners consume country music (as far as I know). I don't think it is a good idea to listen them via vinyl records or (especially) jukeboxes if you can listen them via streaming platform instead. It may sound like too chart-oriented (after all listening via vinyls or jukeboxes does not count towards charts), but by choosing streaming platform instead, those country listeners may have more influence on charts (maybe?). Although Pandora is included in streaming chart (with a discount), and it seems many country listeners use Pandora as seen from its chart, it is still not enough.

The good news is, I don't think I have even seen a jukebox in at least 15 years, so I doubt they are eating into TOO much of the potential streaming market

I don't know much, but I see country artists topping TouchTunes year-end stats. Then I saw it's related to jukeboxes.

I like "Memory Won't Let Me" way better than "Mercy" (although "Mercy" is definitely the better single choice)

It's not like a bunch of country fans are sitting at home going "Man, I need to hear some Reba!" and then proceed to stroll into their dining room and play "Back to God" from their in-house jukebox machine. I'm sure some people have them in their homes, but I guarantee that it has no effect on streaming numbers because the people putting on country music at their local hole-in-the-wall spot aren't doing it because that's their preferred method of listening to music. Vinyl is a little more likely to take away from streaming numbers, but I still think it has a pretty small impact because I think most of the people buying vinyl aren't doing so at the expense of streaming since they're not really all that interchangeable.

I don't think I've ever even heard "Like I Loved You" more than twice on any local station, come to think of it.

Keith Urban's music does absolutely nothing for me. I've liked maybe a handful of his songs throughout his career and that's it.
