Great song. Though I think it wouldn't be a radio hit if they were still with RCA. That being said though, its a nice change of pace from them - which is saying something since I've personally been a fan of most of their singles. This almost sounds like a song that would have been popular on country albums 10-15 years ago.
Hope they can pull a rabbit out of their hat and get a promotion team together so this can at least see some airplay. It is possible to be a independent artists while making good albums that are successful at the same time - they just have to make the right decisions.

I actually think this could/would be a big hit on country radio. Certainly a radio edit that keeps it under 4:00 would probably be needed...but this has all the ingredients of a hit, IMHO.
This is now available to purchase on iTunes and is also streaming on Spotify.

This has now been listed under single releases on Music Row. The add date was yesterday. The label is Hate & Purchase Music and the management team is Vector.

I kind of find it quite pleasurable. Looking forward to their new stuff.

**Moved this over to singles since it did have an adds date last fall** I like this one a good bit, but like sabre14 said, I don't even know if this would've done that well if they were still with RCA. I'm glad that they're still able to make music, though. "Whiskey On My Breath" hasn't gotten much more than a few curiosity plays here and there, although admittedly I haven't checked to see if it's doing anything on the secondary or Music Row charts.

This hasn't cracked the top 60 on the Indicator or Activator charts, nor the top 80 on the Music Row Chart. The lack of any sort of radio promotion team is why it hasn't done anything yet.

zack97 posted a link to this in the album thread, but here it is in the single's thread. :)

rbundy1987 It was "resent" to radio. Love and Theft originally sent it by themselves essentially, but now it might get a chance to chart. Thirty Tigers has a new promotion department, so this wasn't a surprise as this will give their new team some much needed practice.

The album being re-released would still be up in the air to me because I still think Love and Theft would need to pay a higher distribution fee, but if they can get their song to chart, then it's certainly possible - along with the potential of adding new tracks. Being with Thirty Tigers would also give them more artistic control, with the added help of radio promotion. They still don't have enough resources to be scoring top 40 hits on a consistent basis, but solid charting runs is now possible for Thirty Tigers.

This song sounds like Vince Gill's "Go Rest High" just different lyrics.

Great song! Really loved the first album. I have the new one but haven't had a chance to listen all the way through. I was a huge fan of Running Out Of Air and thought it should have done better. These guys are great and would love to see them get some more hits.

YES. Now the local stations just have to play it. This could be a big hit and I'm a huge fan of these two.

Stephen and Eric knew they wanted some terrestrial airplay with this song (said as much at CRS) and the new radio team at Thirty Tigers was a good match. I think this could make it's way into the 60's on the MB and Billboard Airplay charts but a secondary run is where this will make it's biggest impact.

Gosh I love this song. Reminds me of what I loved about them from their first album. I wish this would become a hit, but that's extremely unlikely.

Excerpt from an article in Billboard tonight about Love and Theft and their relationship going forward with Thirty Tigers: It looks as if Thirty Tigers is gunning for some radio success in the future and that Love and Theft is the first test with their newly formed radio promotion department. They also say that Love and Theft will see a greater financial structure in terms of revenue from their music. Basically a different approach to promotion than major labels see fit. I'm interested in the quote, "prove a single's viability in a cost-effective manner, early in its life, then build upon real results." Thirty Tigers is just going to go strictly (or close to it) after daytime spins at stations that have bought into "Whiskey On My Breath" hook, line and sinker. The problem I see is that could end up backfiring for a radio promotion team that's so new. Radio promotion is about building relationships at a slow and steady pace (it took the likes of New Revolution time to build that relationship and we saw how long it took Black River's label to slowly grow) and while this manner of promotion is intriguing, I'm skeptical about how the results will turn out - at least in the near future. This team was Crescendo Music Projects. They've been building.

This team was Crescendo Music Projects. They've been building. Oh yes, they've (Crescendo) been building (they did a good job with Old Dominion) but the way that David Macias (Thirty Tigers) and Pamela Newman talk makes it sound is that they will eventually have top 5 records and it's still not anything guaranteed (at least that's how it came off to me). I love the fact that Thirty Tigers has finally got a radio staff to give their singles a good shot at some success but I'm just a bit skeptical on how exactly that turns out.

They also, talked in Aircheck and there they said nothing was guaranteed. They just shoot. For top 5's.

Yes, I'm sure they know nothing is guaranteed (no matter what comes off in text) but the quote in Billboard by Mancias was "We fully intend on having top 5 records." Again, I know they know nothing is guaranteed but the confidence came off with flying colors.

Confidence can often be construed as cockiness. ;)
It really wasn't that big of a deal to be honest. My original point was I'm skeptical of their success at radio in terms of achieving top 5 records, at least in the immediate future. :)

This got just 4 adds on its mainstream impact day.
It's clearly going to take a while before Thirty Tigers builds up enough momentum to even achieve top 30 or 40 singles. They just haven't built up enough relationships with radio stations across the country. Their tactic of gunning for daytime airplay with heavy believers in their singles is interesting but I think the conventional style of trying to get into any kind of rotation (day or night) on any station is the best way to go, even though that would be a slow building process. That's what the promotion departments of Black River, Streamsound and even New Revolution did and it has finally paid off.
The fact that Love and Theft have been around a while doesn't help either and the allure of their music has worn off; plus "Whiskey On My Breath" doesn't exactly scream hit (even though its a good song).
I'll be interested to see how Thirty Tigers and Crescendo develops over the long term.
