Did you think it would place higher or lower? I was more surprised about "The Edge Of glory". I knew it did well but I thought a song like "Paparazzi" would be higher on the list.

Given its weeks at number 1, I thought it would be higher. But I guess since it opened at the top and stayed there for 6 weeks before falling rather quickly, it probably did not stay on the charts very long and therefore, did not gather as many points.

All three songs above it have sold +1million more than it, with just dance and poker face selling about +3 million more than it

Wow, that's decent. How much does it have when streams are accounted for? Is it platinum yet? lol
If it's selling 5,000 this week, it'll probably never make it to 600,000 but it seems record sales have dropped by a lot over the last two years or so so I'm almost wondering whether it's valid to compare Joanne to Artpop in terms of overall performance?

Joanne is selling perfectly well for modern day standards, which are some really piss poor standards. Anywho I need John Wayne as a single as asoon as possible, but I'm also ready to be served up A-YO, Diamond Heart, or Dancin In Circles

I consider Joanne bigger success than Artpop all things considered and in a perfect world Joanne would reach platinum at some point. Wonder if there's some promo around Coachella (new video or single for instance)

Don't forget about the bridge on "Poker Face" and "Just Dance". Somehow they managed to make the bridge on JD awesome and completely inaudible at the same time.

The bridge of Marry The Night is so epic, probably because the rest of the song is rather plain but then the bridge explodes in and makes the song soar.

MTN is epic from start to finish. I still remember having chills listening to the GaGavision video that previewed MTN.

I actively dislike Joanne, I'll say it. Come back with Popga.
I also love MTN. Think its single performance was a shame.

ARTPOP is classic Gaga. Nothing on Joanne is as great as "Aura", "Do What U Want", "Fashion!", and "Swine". Omg..let me listen now.

I can't at all this artFLOP love...UGH
I love every song on Joanne and they all still take turns getting stuck in my head which I can't say for BTW or AP, but only TFM.

JOANNE is definitely my least favorite Gaga record by a mile. I think her previous records have more highlights especially Born This Way. Scheisse, The Edge of Glory, Heavy Metal Lover and Hair are still among my favorites. The only songs off Joanne that I see myself regularly spinning down the line are Million Reasons, Dancing In Circles and Hey Girl.

Born This Way is my least faved of the albums tbh, a lot of the album tracks were just ok and didn't click with me or only lasted short term. Single wise, it hit a home run, well I'd love to see justice for Hair but oh well.
Artpop is in the same lane as BTW, but not as much Her best works is The Fame Monster & Joanne though, both being very cohesive, though Joanne follows much stronger in how cohesive it is but TFM has straight up iconic jams.

I definitely don't listen to Joanne as much as I did with Artpop after a similar amount of time had passed after its release but Joanne is definitely a better record overall. I just couldn't with too much of Artpop. It had its high points but the lows brought it down too much.

I absolutely love Marry The Night but I think it suffered from sounding a bit too much like Edge Of Glory.
Born This Way remains my favorite album from her-- it's nearly flawless.

Artpop is terrible. Joanne isn't great by any means, but it is an improvement. If nothing else, it moved her out of the very dated electronic sound of the previous. Each of them works better as a shortened EP (very very short for Artpop).
She needs a strong-armed Producer in the studio. Someone who won't hesitate to turn the mic off and tell her that she sounds like a walrus giving birth like the worst parts of Joanne. It's embarrassing that someone who can sing so well live has such abysmal studio recordings.

I like both Artpop and Joanne (actually all her albums pretty much) about equally as well. For me at least, she is just a consistently great artist who keeps putting out good records I love. Comparing Artpop to Joanne commercial-wise though, it can be argued that Artpop actually did much better. It's raw sales numbers are of course higher, but even if you take into account SPS and the decline in album sales over the years, Artpop still might beat Joanne slightly by that measure, and if you look at the singles, both DWUW and Applause, so far, have outperformed the strongest single from Joanne, Million Reasons.
About Coachella, I was wondering if this would give her any significant sales boost? It's not a major-broadcasted TV performance, but I believe it will be available for streaming, and of course it's received a lot of publicity and will continue to up to and during the event. Maybe even more so if the new single/video release coincides with it.
