That was phenomenal. 2009/2010-good. She absolutely killed it and is with Beyonce, far far far ahead of her peers. My favorite halftime performance ever. I haven't seen a negative comment yet. Maybe this will put her back in the mood to make an album of dance-pop bangers.

She made a political statement about inclusiveness and unity without being tacky and attention whoring. It was better this way. Yeah, the intro was obviously political. It's just a bit jarring that simply celebrating an inclusive vision of America is now divisive.

Okay, I'm re-visiting "Joanne" now. I always thought "Million Reasons" should have been a huge hit. I hope it becomes massive now, she deserves it.

Solid performance. but seems a little short. I wished I could've got more of her songs like Love Game, paparazzi, you and I, edge of glory.

Being political wouldn't have been career suicide.
If anything, it would have been the most respectful thing she could have possibly done as an artist who has from day one stood beside the monsters and the weirdos.
Just minutes ago she was talking about being a rebel and proud of it and how it was empowering for her during the Tiffany commercial.
So why give us the safest performance of your life? I didn't see Gaga there - even though she performed well.

And she did stand up for the "monsters and weirdos" in a way that was meant to inspire compassion rather than rage. Very tactful.

I don't know what some people wanted. Some "FUCK TRUMP" shoutout controversy moment? How reductive.

Considering that the time she spent on the intro could have easily gone to any other song in her discography and fit seamlessly, I think that was all the political statement that was needed. The only thing I would have done to place a little more emphasis on that subtle statement was to immediately follow it up with BTW, so that the message was loud and clear - this land is our land, not just your land. Anyway, the performance was great, "classic" Gaga and she should be very proud of herself for pulling it off

The intro was obviously Gaga's statement. Anyone with half a brain (that's a stretch these days, I know) knows where Gaga stans on the grand issue, and I think her inclusion of Born This Way, in particular the bridge, was her additional statement. She kept it classy while revisiting her roots and kept her head up. She could have made a less subtle statement and pissed off the conservatives, but just because one can, doesn't mean one always should. I think the whole thing of saying something for the purpose of riling up right-wingers is partly why this mess has gotten as bad as it has. Of course people will criticize her now for not saying something.
And Billboard just called her a legacy artist. Shut up Billboard.

Refer to last year's show on how to do it and still remain classy.

Tonight was EVERYTHING I loved about Gaga. Can she now release some new hot dance music? Joanne is SO bad and such a waste of her talent.

She slayed that. Loved everything about it. I thought her intro was brilliant and I particularly loved the performance of "Million Reasons" because she just laid it all out there. Great to see all of her biggest hits were represented; there was nothing I would've changed as far as the setlist went.

Here is Variety's review Super Bowl Halftime Review: Lady Gaga Takes Safe Route With Hits & Spectacle In a competent but disconnected performance, Lady Gaga performed years-old hits while steadfastly avoiding making a statementFull Review

So happy she just performed and left the political jargon out of it. Lets go back to that! Ultra sweet performance!

I didn't see Gaga there - even though she performed well. As afraid as I am to say it, my heart is really really inclined to agree with you. We are facing possibly the most extreme, tyrannical, and disgraceful administration in American history, whom she is known to be against, and for her to not even address this or present some kind of protest in front of the largest audience in the world possible, while maybe not maligned, should definitely not be applauded, and was definitely a missed opportunity. Overall though, for what it was I did enjoy the performance and thought it was electrifying and engrossing, but speaking about another missed opportunity, and it seems this would have been quite obvious but no one's mentioned it yet, but why didn't she perform more songs from Joanne, especially the next single? (John Wayne, or whatever it is). Most of the songs she performed were from the years old Fame/Fame Monster. Unless people think after flopping for 4 months Million Reasons can still be a hit, or are happy with Joanne's performance so far or think she can more successfully launch the new single later on, again, without the largest tv audience in the world. It would be nice if I were proven wrong, but it seems like a no brainer.

Come on now, you make it sound like she did nothing at all. She did more good with her message than if she got up there and barked her views (correct as they may be) at that Texan audience. Love will win over more misguided minds than a patronizing lecture from a pop star.

We in a society that has no tact. Subtlety is underappreciated. You guys wouldn't be happy unless she stood there like a crass, ice queen begging for attention and threatened to blow up the WH and screamed Trump should suck her dick. Or tie up Steve Bannon with strings of rope with the hashtag #HalftimingforQuebec😘

I've never understood what was so rebel about Formation the use of the N word maybe? Anyway I thought Gaga did well with her intro and keeping the bridge of BTW. Probably the first time the words lesbian gay transgender and bi were uttered in that stage. Interesting as well that the quotes she chose for her statement included the word "indivisible" which is the name of the liberal guide / group supporting the anti-Trump roots movement. Subtlety maybe? Anyway. I wish she had included Applause somewhat But good overall Glad she didn't include Ayo to be honest. Maybe Dancing in circles could've been added there somewhat too, but well she's sticking to MR strongly. Hope it pays off as I think it's a great song. Let's see what critics say tomorros
