New song from Smallpools called "Karaoke". Lead single (unless "Killer Whales" is considered it) for their debut album LOVETAP!, which is due out on February 3, 2015. Did "Killer Whales" ever go for adds? Produced by Ricky Reed (Jason Derulo, New Politics, Pitbull, Wallpaper. and more), Tom Peyton (Wallpaper.) , and John Ryan (Pitbull, One Direction, Alex & Sierra, and more).https%3A//soundcloud.com/smallpools/karaoke

I like this, but not as much as Dreaming or Killer Whales. These guys are solid on most of their tracks so I am looking forward to the album.

This sounds more like Neon Trees than the other songs I've heard from them. Not a bad song, but I like the other singles better.

I like this song. The chorus is gold. Their songs shouldn't all sound exactly alike. I do hear that Neon Trees vibe peeps are talkin bout..

I love it when lyrics are simply real like they are in this song. Add in it already having a strong melody, and it's that much better.

I don't know how I feel about this. I think it's too poppy, generic EDM. I might change my mind.

It sounds too generic, especially the beginning, it sounds like something you will hear in CHR... and it's not surprising given the producers they used. Sometimes I end up liking these songs (that's why I said I might change my mind). Given that I really liked the Smallpools EP I guess I was expecting more of them.

Fair enough, although I'm not sure this sound would fit in on pop, but its all just a matter of opinion.

I do think, though, that if it happens it'll be as one of those songs that just suddenly decides to catch on. It's just that these kind of indie bands have really struggled this year. Since "Pompeii", only like The 1975 and Neon Trees have seen any success on CHR this year. Bleachers, Fitz & The Tantrums, Phantogram, Foster The People, Grouplove, and Big Data/Joywave have all failed for whatever reason, when in 2013 they'd all have gotten to at least the #20ish spot on pop. I can't see this doing anything either...I think "Shut Up And Dance" is the best chance for that type of song to do something on CHR again. (Of course I'm not counting Kongos as similar to any of these bands)

Re: Fitz - I still don't understand why they never tried pushing "Out of My League" beyond Hot AC, but as to the rest...it is indeed strange that at one point we saw all these bands' songs being pushed to Pop, and of the new bands, only The 1975 did much of anything.

And considering in 2012/13 it seemed like every single one of them crossed over with ease, one has to wonder what happened.

They still haven't topped Dreaming personally, and I'm not sure how I feel about this one.

Where is this one right now? Hoping it at least cracks Top 40. Their last single Killer Whales flopped but I understand it wasn't backed by a new album.

Looks like this is climbing nicely! Currently at #37 on FMQB.
I think this might be their breakthrough. 'Dreamin' was only a minor Alt hit.

Music video:
It's dubbed as '70s Bootleg', so I wonder if that means there will be a different video alongside this. I thought this one was okay, but I was expecting a much better one. Pretty unique though.
