Radio Hall Of Fame Class Of 2004 Announced Hall of Fame President Bruce DuMont announced today that XM Satellite Radio's newest hire — former NPR veteran news anchor Bob Edwards — will be joining legendary WRLL/Chicago air personality Larry Lujack, Clear Channel head Lowry Mays, WOMC/Detroit morning host Dick Purtan and late radio news reporter Walter Winchell in the hall's Class of 2004. The distinguished group of broadcasters will be inducted at a gala event scheduled for Nov. 6 at the Chicago Renaissance Hotel. Premiere Radio Networks will produce and distribute a live, one-hour broadcast of the event, which will be hosted by Premiere talk host Glenn Beck.
For some reason, I thought Larry Lujack, Dick Purtan, and Walter Winchell were already in the Radio HOF. I haven't heard much of Winchell's stuff, just know him by reputation. Chicago Personality Lujack and Detroit Personality Purtan both deserve this. They are Great in every sense of the word. I won't comment on Lowry Mays.
