Why should they move on to a 2nd single when promotion has just begun on the 1st single? It depends on how dedicated Interscope is. If they give LFL a full push for several weeks and it does not take off, will they give up on the era? Or will they continue and push single #2? If they only plan one big push for the album, maybe going for the 2nd single next week is a good idea since right now we can see several early indicators that the general public is not very interested in LFL. The best scenario is for Interscope to give the first and 2nd singles a full push. If they both under-perform/flop, then its understandable if they drop the promo at that point.

In hindsight, she should have released the other songs, including the ones released today, in Dec. and saved L4L for a radio deal this week. It would be exploding on iTunes had it been brand new after the Grammys and the radio deal would have guaranteed a great hot 100 placement. That was one thing interscope executed perfectly with GMAYL

GMAYL then plummeted and did nothing for the album.

I know but I want her to get another top 10! Anyway, Forbes says M had the most watched performance last night

To be fair, the leaks did ruin their plan so they had to rush out some material and the first single, which was a good move. The bad move was not following up that release with additional promo prior to the video and the Grammys. Had everything gone as planned, LFL would likely be much higher as it would be fresh to radio and video.

I know but I want her to get another top 10! There is one scenario that could work, but I don't know if she should go there. Early on this era Madonna experimented with nudity. A video that featured Madonna naked would go viral. She's released several Erotica-esque images lately. A video that went along with those images could go viral. But, that would really rile up the haters. Madonna likely does not want to go there at this point in her career. Then again, she did flash her ass at the Grammy's and she did flash her boob during the MDNA tour. If it went viral, that alone could give her a top 20 hit, if the views spark iTunes sales, then she'd have her top 10 hit.

All I can say is that the music from RH I've heard so far is as fresh as her debut.
The Ryan Seacrest interview was oodles of fun. Liptrick anyone?

^Yes, she pushed those creative juices more with this record than the last couple, that's for sure. The remix EP is ranked No. 25 on the albums chart. (Two of the mixes are ranked in the 960-1060 range on the tracks chart- not a lot of sales, but it somethin'). The album is shaping up to have a decent first week. After that, like any singles, it will be challenging for it to stay afloat for too long. But, I'm sure I will be enjoying it just the same.

GMAYL then plummeted and did nothing for the album. Yeah, but is this looking any better? They definitely should have either saved this until this week or recorded something new to push as a lead single. She may be 56 and unlikely to have a big hit anyway (without a popular, younger act), but she'd be doing a hell of a lot better with this this week if it weren't already available for download for over a month already (even if it meant debuting in the Top 40 and then plummeting).

Well as stated above the leaks destroyed the album release plans and caused her to not be able to launch the album in typical Madonna fashion. They better just have Ghosttown ready to fire if adds don't get well for this.

"Give Me All Your Luvin'" leaked in demo form too, and she didn't rush release it. The album leak didn't happen until a week ago. They still could have held off until then.
The leak is going to become a convenient excuse for the underperformance of an album that was bound to be a case of diminishing returns anyway.

With the level of success she's had in the last 30+ years, I don't think she's too concerned with excuses for her music not selling like it used to. She has every right to be upset, though, that her album (and demos) was leaked way before she was ready to release it.

Oh the leaks aren't going to hurt the album's sales at all, if anything they got her positive buzz. My point is they panicked and did stuff that was smart but also ruined the possibility of a proper lead single.

If the album buzz from most critic is positive this album will outsell MDNA and that will be a success and all you can ask for really.

I do agree that they should have not released LFL with the original six…until this past week all we would have had was the one demo that does not even sound like the finished version.

You fools, she's a 56 year old woman releasing songs to CHR, lol. It's not that hard to figure out.
Awesome performance, AMAZING video, AMAZING album, fantastic look, what else do you want?
Madonna ain't goin nowhere. This album proves it.

Madonna's performance was a highlight at the Grammys this year. I think they should have released the whole album right after the Grammys to capitalize on the sales and the huge exposure she had but oh well

If this hits #1 on the club play chart will she become the artist with the most #1 songs on any chart? She'll tie George Strait's 44 on the country chart.
