^Awww, don't be let down, Lotterie. I've mentioned the challenges of age and number of years being around, etc. I've also done so on the MNation board. But, I don't need to drive it home as much as I used to. A few others have been discussing it enough, of which I have no problem. :)

Its going up iTunes very slowly. Its #235. If you look over at Kworb and compare spins Vs iTunes sales, almost all the songs in the top 40 are selling a lot better on iTunes.

So any chance for this to reach Hot 100 this week (or next)?

Actually most of the songs around it with compatible spins are not any higher in sales….it is not until you get into the top 30 that you see most songs doing top 100 on iTunes.

She's #38, when she enters the top 35 her sales are going to need to pick up to be competitive with the other songs.

I would say once she is above 1400 spins she should at least be in the top 200 on iTunes. Jessie J and Tori Kelly are #30 and #32 with over 1700 spins and both between 180 and 200 on iTunes.

Well, there's two forms of seeing this, there are a lot of song doing worse on itunes with similar number of spins, but the truth is in the whole 31-50 area only two songs, GDFR and Lay me down have a bigger audience impact, and both are in the top 100.
Itunes position is not a problem as long as improves with airplay. On top 35 only three songs are outside top 100 on itunes
Madonna needs to do some tv promo for the song, but probably should wait a bit for a bigger impact

Debuts at No. 8 on Bubbling Under. Another top 10 BU smash. :)
It moves 13-9* (a new peak) on Dance/Electronic Songs and 11-5* on Dance/Electronic Digital Songs.

It's what I expected, looking at the combo of airplay/sales/streaming it had for this chart week.
If it peaks where it is, it will be her fourth top 10 BU peak, after "Everybody," "Get Together" and "Jump." We'll just have to see how airplay progresses, and if it has any effect on the sales/streaming.
Another entry at Mainstream Top 40/Pop Songs is looking good, so there's that for the time being.

It's possible streaming may increase as airplay does. Perhaps it will peak album-release week and advance beyond BU, if it doesn't before then.

I think LFL is too much of what people would've expected from Madonna. If she wanted to make a big bang at the Grammy's she should have done Ghost Town and had a video for that song first. It would've been seen as something unexpected and new from Madonna. I think that's what people really want, the days when Madonna changed it up. LFL is a good song but not good enough (it could be second single material).

I think this song is a slow grower and is moving in the right direction. I wish we wouldn't be so quick to assume its going to flop completely and that things are dismal. It is showing promising airplay and that's great. I think we all know the days of her being an "instant add" and a smash out of the box are long over and have been since the "Music" era. As great as the Confessions album was, none of those songs exploded at radio...same as her subsequent albums (aside from 4 Minutes).
I am happy with what we are seeing so far and I am not going to write off the success because it is not exploding like a Taylor Swift or Rihanna song. I am pleasantly surprised with this interest from radio thus far, have at it :)

BDS airplay for this chart week probably totaled 5 million or so, so that wasn't going to make a big dent in its charting. And the sales probably were around 15,000-17,000. Overall U.S. streaming probably was less than 1m.
Billboard may report on actual numbers in the weekly Dance/Electronic Songs article, since it cracked the top 10 on that chart.

I think we might be in for a surprise and she will be doing lots of US promo after she's back from Europe, which should bolster L4L (hopefully airplay will keep growing until then)

^The only figures that were officially released were 10,000 and 11,000 for the first nine days. The to-date sum likely definitely is less than 100K. Keep in mind that album pre-orders probably are around 65,000 or more.

If it wasn't for the Drake release, she would be #1 on the Bubbling Under chart. :)
And if Maroon 5 did not perform with Gwen on the Grammy's she would have entered the Hot 100 at #100. Which I would take at this point in her career.

I'm honestly surprised at how low sales are. Not that I expected this to be a huge smash, but I would've thought sales would be the strongest of the 3 components, not the weakest.
I can only assume that the early release of the tracks really watered down the "fan effect" of buying a new single. Frankly she should've held on to Living for Love and released it as part of the second batch of pre-order songs rather than way back in December.

I know it happens all the time, but as an avid chart follower for many years, it always interesting to see what came out of left field or blew up at the wrong time. Titanic blocking ROL, etc. But will save all that for another thread. :)

chartfreak- no way to know if that's where LFL would have ranked. Keep in mind that there are tracks that rankled on last week's Hot 100, that dropped off the chart, that may have ranked higher than LFL. Just keeping it real. :)
badr- that probably has had some effect, however minimal, on sales.

I guess they're working on a long term strategy. If L4L was held back for release till now, it would have debuted high then fallen off. Instead it's been slowly building buzz for the album.

^Actually probably the best way for her to have gotten a decent sales week would have been not doing the pre-order thing until after the single had been out a week or two.
