This song went #1 exactly 10 years ago (actually it was 10 years ago and one week but whatever). This was Tim's second #1 off his 2004 album Live Like You Were Dying. This song would be followed up by "Drugs Or Jesus" (#11), "Do You Want Fries With That" (#4) and "My Old Friend" (#5). All R&R peaks.

This is where Curb's questionable single choices for Tim began, imo. I was never really a fan of this, despite really liking the album.

I actually think the questionable single choices came one song later with "Drugs Or Jesus" - I liked "Drugs Or Jesus" but never understood how Curb let Tim convince them for it to be released. I also enjoyed "Do You Want Fries With That" but agree with everyone that it shouldn't have been released. "Back When" ended up working out too, peaking #1, so it's hard to argue with it but I understand if someone doesn't like this one. I'll never forgive Curb Records for passing on "Blank Sheet Of Paper".

Here's the chart where Tim McGraw was #1 (Billboard): BILLBOARD TOP TEN FOR WEEK ENDING DECEMBER 18, 2004: 1. BACK WHEN-TIM MCGRAW-CURB 2. Some Beach-Blake Shelton-Warner Bros. 3. Nothin' On But The Radio-Gary Allan-MCA 4. The Woman With You-Kenny Chesney-BNA 5. Awful, Beautiful Life-Darryl Worley-DreamWorks 6. How Am I Doin'-Dierks Bentley-Capitol 7. Mr. Mom-Lonestar-BNA 8. Party For Two-Shania Twain and Billy Currington-Mercury 9. Monday Morning Church-Alan Jackson-Arista 10. Nothing 'Bout Love Makes Sense-LeAnn Rimes-Curb

This is such a throwback. I love the melody, steel guitar, and meaning of this. I get too happy when this comes on the radio.
