That said, I don't know if I'm in love with it. Think I need a few more listens. The chorus falls a little flat to me. The pre-chorus melody is flawless though.

Fluctuating in and out of her high voice.
I don't think she's done it like this on a single before.
Not that I can think of.

It's such a nice little bop. This could easily fit on "Breakaway". It's super safe and should be a decent sized hit. I'd still rank MKIA over it though.

A ginormous hit single.
The verses/pre-chorus/bridge are actually my favorite parts of the song. The chorus acts as like a sort of refrain for me. And I like that.

I can't get over how perfect this song is to start a new era.
A new album, a slightly new sound, Kelly as a mother...
Just the first lyrics "This is my heartbeat song and I'm gonna play it, been so long I forgot how to turn it up up up up all night long"
Basically saying "Yea, I've been away for a bit, but I'm back!"
Then "where the hell did you come from? You're a different kind of fun"
Because she's got some new material - she's not going to be just the 'breakup anthem' queen anymore.
But she's still fun, in a completely different way.
As much as I love angsty rock Kelly, I love upbeat Kelly.
Definitely not the hardest hitting song, but I think it's far more instant than MKIA.
