The first two of the Top 5! The last three will come soon. ;) 5) "Going Out Like That" - Reba McEntirePeak: #1 (2 weeks) "Going Out Like That" is so full of energy and fun from any angle you examine it from. The production is modern and catchy and Reba sells the hell out of it like only she can with a great vocal performance. It reminded me of like an even better version of "Turn On the Radio" (a song that I also loved a lot). Very strong and appropriate comeback single of sorts, and I'm glad that it at least did moderately well on the charts and that I heard it plenty on the radio during its run. It's too bad it couldn't have been a big #1 hit, but it at least had the pleasure of doing so on my chart.04) "God Made Girls" - RaeLynnPeak: #1 (3 weeks) "God Made Girls" is one of the best debut singles I've heard in the past couple years and I love everything about it. What surprised me most is that I thought RaeLynn was awful on The Voice and then I heard this track for the first time and I was like "wait a minute..." The chorus is absolutely perfect melodically and vocally and the production throughout the song is just beautiful (it's quite organic and country at heart but with a modern edge). The inflections/twang of her voice are really enjoyable here, much different than the harshness I remember from when she was on The Voice, and the whole feel of the song gives off a youthful, fun vibe that just fits RaeLynn so well. I'm still really bitter that this one stalled out shy of the Top 15 when it was selling so well and that her label didn't have an album ready to go when it did. I need that record in my life asap. :'(Tags: Zeebz Fancy H. I do kinda like "Going Out Like That" minus the autotune (it's there) so I kinda like it. I have nothing nice to say about Raelynn or her singing abilities or the lyrics but I'll refrain myself from saying anything more.

3) "Good Love Is Hard to Find" - Sara EvansPeak: #1 (2 weeks) "Good Love Is Hard to Find" was my favorite track off Slow Me Down, so naturally I had to chart it when faced with the dilemma that Sara Evans wouldn't be putting out any singles over the course of 2015. The instrumentation on the track, which starts off with that absolutely beautiful dobro intro, is definitely the first thing that really grabbed me about it. It's one of the "countrier" and more organic-leaning production treatments on the album, which has a lot of songs with a modern spin to them. The use of the dobro (and mandolin) is just a work of art. Beyond that, Sara Evans' vocal performance is amazing on it and the melody and lyrics are very catchy. There's a real brightness to the whole track from Sara's vocal to the way it's produced to the lyrical content. It is an incredibly tight and all-around perfect country tune, imo.Tags: Zeebz Fancy H. Dagnabbit!!! I was wrong about your #1!
Also, the instrument in the intro is a dobro. But the song totally has mandolin too! The dobro is the more prominent instrument, but mandolin can be heard plucking around up high during the chorus with the dobro still sliding around in the same range as the intro melody. 1:50 is a good example of where the mandolin comes through clearly as a lead-in to the 2nd chorus :)

I really can never tell the difference between the two. I can usually recognize about any other instrument, but those two I can never tell which is which, lol. I'm glad to have that cleared up though. <3

Like, when hearing a song with all 3 the differences would be pretty obvious, but then if I only heard one of them in a song my brain would seize up and freak out. I finally realized that dobro has a slide like a steel guitar. So if it sounds kinda like a banjo but is sliding around like a steel, it is a dobro. Haha that realization finally eliminated all my confusion :)

These two were the biggest hits of the year for me, easily. It looks like the majority correctly predicted my #1, though it was still fairly close between these two. ;) 2) "Love Me Like You Mean It" - Kelsea BalleriniPeak: #1 (3 weeks) "Love Me Like You Mean It" is my favorite debut hit of 2014 ("God Made Girls" ain't far behind) and it really hit its stride for me in the spring of 2015. The melody of this is one of the most infectious things to hit country radio in the past year, hands down. It is also one of the "countriest" elements of the song and help, at least for me, define it as not being a pop song. I heard it a lot of times on the radio where the pop elements in the production had been largely swapped out for fiddles and acoustic instruments and it really showed how country the root of the song really is. I like the original rendition as much if not more though and I just think it's insatiably catchy. It's not hard to see why it connected so well and defied the odds for new female artists in the genre. Kelsea's vocal is just totally fun and enjoyable, too and the lyrics make a nice, inoffensive statement of independence.01) "I Got the Boy" - Jana KramerPeak: #1 (3 weeks) "I Got the Boy" is a song that I swear I love a little more every time I listen to it. I just never tire of it at all and still get excited every time I hear that beautiful dobro riff (much like with "Good Love Is Hard to Find"). The instrumentation of this track is literally holy country perfection and the song is lyrically and vocally fantastic too. It was a great example of a song being interpreted in such a way that the artist gives off the feel that they wrote it for themselves, which Jana has said as much about picking the Jamie Lynn Spears-penned track for herself. Seeing such a neo-traditional release become a big success, and for a female artist no less, was such a wonderful treat, and if it had taken off sooner and not been held back by her gender and an unwillingness of country radio to play this style of music today, I believe it had a great chance to go all the way to the top. It was still a huge win for Jana Kramer and hearing it so much on the radio was blissful. I love her music, but this is easily her best song for me and one of the very best things I've heard in the past few years.Tags: Zeebz Fancy H. Thanks for following y'all and excusing my slowness (I wanted to finish this a lot sooner than I ended up doing, lol).

Justin Bieber holds it down at the top for a second week to start off the new year how he ended the last one. Adele breaks into the Top 5 with her mega-smash "Hello," while Kacey Musgraves and Darius Rucker score Top 10 placements. Ashley Monroe rockets into the Top 20 with "The Blade" in her eleventh week on, while Tim McGraw slides into the threshold as well. Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande continue their quick starts as they bound into the Top 30, and Cassadee Pope and George Strait also score their first Top 30 hits. Carrie Underwood and Janet Jackson break into the Top 40, while "Sorry" moves into the Top 50. Two new entries this week come from Ashley Campbell and Brothers Osborne. Taylor Swift scores her second Number One hit on my chart with the beautiful "Wildest Dreams," which is easily my favorite from the 1989 record, dethroning the Biebs after a 2-week stay with "What Do You Mean?" Chris Young inches up into the runner-up position, with Adele advancing to the Top 3 and Kelsea Ballerini scoring her second Top 5 hit. Reba McEntire cracks the Top 10 with "Until They Don't Love You" while a number of songs break into the Top 20, led by Demi Lovato's big 9-point leap for "Confident." Carrie Underwood's second Storyteller single continues it's hot start as "Heartbeat" jumps into the Top 30 in only its fourth week on the chart and Justin Bieber brings another song into the Top 40 with "Sorry." A lot of songs lower on the chart take advantage of a bit of house-cleaning this week and have their best movements in weeks, while also freeing up the chart space to welcome four new songs from the likes of Shawn Mendes, Craig Morgan, Tinashe, and Rascal Flatts.
