This genre does not really have a forum on the pulse that I could find. Since there are a lot of country music fans that enjoy Southern Rock I thought it would be interesting to find out your favorite Southern Rock bands and songs. Here are mine:
Favorite Bands:
Lynryd Skynyrd The Allman Brothers ZZTop The Charlie Daniels Band Molly Hatchet
Favorite Songs"
Free Bird Ramblin' Man The Devil Went Down to Georgia Dreams I'll Never See Sweet Home Alabama Sharp Dressed Man Whipping Post In Memory of Elizabeth Reed

Hi Lonesomefugitive,
Thanks for the welcome, it is good to be here. This forum seems to have a membership that is both friendly and well informed. Another southern rock group with younger members making a name for themselves are The Kings of Leon. I'd also place Kentucky Headhunters as a southern rock group. They have an outstanding drummer in Fred Young. Another favorite of mine is Fall of the Peacemaker by Molly Hatchet - the instrumentals rock, Bounty Hunter is another notable song. They have artistry and musicianship in spades. Blackberry Smoke is another good group.
I completely agree with your list. I like the Steve Miller band, and of course The Eagles are one of my favorites. Desparado is another good song of theirs as is Yesterday's Girl. For instrumentation Hotel California is top notch, and their signature song.

While I realize there are some connections between southern rock music and country music, this really isn't the appropriate place for a thread like this (this sub-forum is set up for country-related discussion, and the genre forums on Pulse are set up for radio singles). I would suggest searching for your favorite southern rock songs in the nostalgia forum; and if threads don't already exist for songs like "Free Bird" or "Sweet Home Alabama", then by all means, feel free to create threads for those songs. We have had some country/southern rock artists release country/southern-rock-flavored music to country radio and therefore we have had threads for those such artists (Blackberry Smoke and The Cadillac Three come to mind), but Nostalgia is probably the best forum to go when it comes to artists who are no longer "current" on the radio.
