Zazie and I keep our respective WhitLists updated every week, and while we exchange lists to double-check with each other every six months or so, this will give us another opportunity to check in and see if we're staying in line.

That is a huge undertaking, and I wish you luck with it. I would be interested in seeing what artists have between 509 (Kenny Starr's #475 total) and 500 points. I was able to go down that far to Kenny, when I bought the 2nd edition Joel county book (1944-1988) off of ebay about six years ago, and figure up all the artists that have since been knocked off Joel's current list (which was chopped down even further from a top 400 to a top 300 as of the 2005 book). The only other way to find out about those "below 509 points" artists, other than your "every artist" analysis, would be to go find the 1st edition Joel Country book, which I think came out in the late 70s. Not sure which method would be tougher...

Here's a topic of interest to me at least -- not sure about anybody else. We're about to have a new floor for entries in the top 300 -- as soon as Band Perry gets there, which will just mean their current song has to reach #2 (which is clearly going to happen), the last song in the top 300 with a point total of less than 1,000 will be gone. (Pee Wee King is at #300 with, as it happens, 999 points.)

So I took a look at how many artists below 2,000 points were in the top 200. Somewhat surprisingly, there are only 160 artists with 2,000 points, with 5 artists likely to get to the 2,000 point mark in the near future. (Lady A, Lambert, ZBB, Bryan, Currington, Morgan -- Nichols and Church can do it soon too.) It will take a long time to find 40 artists able to get to a total of 2,000 Whitburn points.

And the last in this series? We have 94 artists with 3,000 points, so we aren't too far from getting a full hundred at the 3,000+ mark. Underwood, Aldean, and Bentley aren't too far off (and Trace Adkins just needs one comeback hit, but might not be able to do it).

I'd like to see a floor of 1,000 - 2,000 - 3,000 in place to reach the top 300, 200, 100 but I don't know if it will happen on my watch or Jon's. Mr. Stacey will have to be running the show and maybe turning it over to a new generation of Whitburn trackers before the top 200 behaves properly.

That is an interesting observation there Zazie, one I never noticed myself. I'm thinking we'll get to see the 300 and 100's happen but 40 more artists crossing the 2,000 mark? Probably not going to happen for quite a while. I'd like to see it though.
