Hey Administrators and Mods,
I was just looking for clarification on what you guys deem as lewd, obscene content and what posted would be considered breaking the rules. It's obvious that straight up porn is not allowed, but I feel that there is some grey area here in regards to "nude" photos of women and men. I was recently informed that a poster had received a warning for posting a picture in the Madonna thread where she exposed her nipple. I myself just posted a picture in the Madonna thread of a woman's chest which was an artpiece modifiied by madonna.
I guess my question is, what type of "nude" content warrants a warning/goes against board policy? I've seen many a post with Men's chests exposed, as well as images of men topless in the avatars and signatures of members. Those images haven't been censored but I don't think they've received a warning either considering the images are still up.
Is a woman's topless chest considered more...."nude" than a man's?
Thanks.

Yes.
Even today, an exposed female chest is considered more "nude"/obscene than an exposed male chest. It's not spelled out so in the TOS, but that has been the prevailing standard for quite a long time (we're talking many, many years). Regardless of whether any of us agree or disagree with this, we are not in a position to challenge it here on Pulse.
A discussion on how people feel about this standard could, actually, be very thought-provoking. It's just not going to change anything as far as rules go.
(Sidebar: You mentioned the bulge pic in the Chris Brown thread. We'll take a look at that; it could also possibly be taken down.)

It's definately the rule and how it's enforced that I find unjustifiable;the sentiment than a male topless chest isn't "lewd, obscene or filthy" but a woman's is doesn't really sit well with me but that idea goes beyond this specific forum. I understand in USA and other countries, a woman's chest is still taboo, but in many parts of Europe and Central and South america it definately is not. Sad that this double standard exists in our society : (
At the end of the day though, since this is the wishes of the administration I will respect and follow this rule. It's not difficult to refrain from posting a woman's bare chest : P

What is "nude, lewd and obscene" for some is artistic expression for others. Music industry is certainly more accepting and receptive of such scenes and a great number of music videos and music lyrics would be deemed obscene anyway...
We as a music forum cannot go on being judgmental about a behavior we personally disapprove of. Who said my judgment is better than yours, and the reverse... This is a very slippery road to censorship and / or self-censorship. Such rules have the potential of being used selectively against certain sectors of the music industry in a bid to hide them from public.
No such censorship should be applied unless the lyric or the music video is a clear contravention of the criminal code. Other than that let them be and don't interfere.

We don't have the power to challenge the rules prohibiting nude/lewd/obscene content. Period. These are rules imposed on us by being a board on the ProBoards server.

Yeah, unless you all want Pulse to get shut down, no one can challenge that rule. You could send an email or suggestion to ProBoards or something, but other than that, Pulse can't do anything to change that rule.
