I was hoping they'd send another single out because it did decently on the smaller market charts. And this is the best song on the album!!

I think they made the right choice with this one. I initially wanted something different for the second single, something that would capture the attention of mainstream stations, but I don't know that any song on the album would do that at this point. Because of that, they may as well release this - the best track from an incredibly strong album. She has nothing to lose by releasing something of such high quality. It's hard to pick out my favourite lyrics considering the entire song is written so skilfully, but I love the opening verse.

I won't have to spend much time wondering what the best song I'll hear on the radio in 2015 will be. Oh, wait, I forgot that I probably won't hear it. Still, this is a towering achievement and, however unlikely its success, I'll be hoping and hoping and hoping. What a song!

WAT. Omg, the excitement I had when I came into this forum and saw this thread just now... I am so happy this is being released!!! :O Definitely my favorite song on what is a truly incredible album, stacked with great tunes. The vocals and lyrics and everything about this are so incredibly spot-on; like @dawson, that opening verse is my favorite. Just chilling. Honestly, I was beginning to wonder if they were even going to bother with any further singles from the project, but I am glad they're going to release at least one more single, and they couldn't have picked a better one. <3 Shame that this won't be a mainstream hit the way it oughta be, but maybe it'll do okay with the smaller markets/Nash Icon stations, which is better than nothing.

YESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!! My absolute favorite song from the new album...by far! Stoked this is being sent to radio. The whole album is solid but this is definitely a stand out for me. And, judging by the comments above, I am not alone on this one.

I love this song. It's easily my favourite from her stellar album. After most stations ignored "The Way I'm Livin'", I'm not too optimistic for radio to allow it to chart, but I am hopeful that it will receive at least some airplay like the first single did.

This song is just fantastic. While I don't love it as much as a few others ("When I Come Around," "Not Forgotten You," "Out On The Weekend") this is still probably the best song released to country radio in 12 months. I hope it can make some impact.

Country radio should be begging Lee Ann to send this song on down! Such a great song, hopefully it can make some sort of dent on the charts

Let me join in the chorus of YES's to this release! I figured they were going to wait until after the new year to roll out the second single and this is the one I was both wanting and expecting. I'm not at all anticipating country radio to suddenly come to its senses and give LAW airplay, but one has to remain optimistic. I'd sure like like to see this at least reach the top 30.

I agree that this is outstanding and even better than "The Way I'm Livin'" which is quite a compliment since that song was also fantastic along with this album. But there really isn't even any doubt this will do next to nothing on mainstream country radio. Look for another Music Row Chart and Indicator chart run with the small possibility of this to crack the top 60 on the Airplay chart.

I've been trying to decide whether to pick up this album or not, and I think this song sealed the deal. It is so beautiful and stunning.

Not that this will mean anything in the grand scheme of things, but just for the record, the adds date for this has been pushed back a week to January 26.

I admit that I didn't even check out her album because I've never been much of a Lee Ann Womack fan (other than a few singles) and I especially did not care for the lead single for this project. However, I listened to this and holy cow this is phenomenal. I surely will be listening to the rest of the album soon.

Girl Crush, Going Out Like That and Send It On Down....2015 is off to a great start. But they all will probably be forgotten by country radio come March but I can fantasize about the possibilities for at least a couple of weeks.
Does anyone know who is singing harmony on this? The harmonies are subtle but a nice touch to an already great song.

I didn't pay close enough attention to the playlists to Nash Icons stations to know how much support "The Way I'm Livin'" got on them (I remember reading in Aircheck that it was spun at least once on WSM-FM once that station flipped). But it would be nice if those stations would support "Send It On Down." My other modest hopes: a video for the song, some televised performances of the song (Lee Ann will perform on The View tomorrow, but a quote from her here indicates that she will be performing the title track of her album), and some online performances of the song to take advantage of Grammy-related attention as the ceremony approaches. My pipe dream: a Grammy performance of this song from Lee Ann. Oh, and of course a win for Best Country Album for either her or for Brandy Clark. Does anyone know who is singing harmony on this? The harmonies are subtle but a nice touch to an already great song. I think, but am not sure, that it's Irish singer-songwriter Mick Flannery. He is credited with background vocals on the album, and it sounds like him. I agree that the harmonies are lovely. What an arresting performance of a gorgeous and moving song this is.

I was fighting back the tears when I heard this song. Lee Ann Womack truly is an incredible singer and I really want people to back this single. "Send it on Down" should get the same reaction as me from her other fans.

This song got one add on the MB panel this week. I am trying, and failing, to be happy about that. O-N-E add. Almost Two Adds. Now I'm ecstatic. At this rate of gain, this song could sport as many as 5 stations that will have added it 5 weeks from now.
Maybe she can change the title to Slide It On Down and re-release the song with one new verse?
OK, I feel better now. I would be so happy if this or Brandy Clark's album could win per 43dudleyvillas a few posts above. I'd pick Brandy's if I had to pick one, but this album is excellent, and this is one of the best country songs I have ever heard (and you wouldn't believe how many country songs I have heard). Please chart one week, please.

Well, Zazie, there is still hope! The official adds date is next Monday, so whatever station added it today was actually nice and early :) The problem is that Lee Ann's new label (Sugar Hill Records) doesn't really chart any songs on country radio. I'm not even sure what type of promo team they have for radio, or if they have one at all. Of course radio should just play good music when they hear it, but that doesn't seem to be how it works. Also, there hasn't been really any fanfare about this release. So far I have only seen the adds date published on the old R&R Going For Adds site, and it was initially today before being pushed back to the 26th. But I have not seen in published in AllAccess yet...let's hope that it is listed as going for adds in the Billboard and Aircheck updates tonight. A nice ad for the song would be great too, but I'm not expecting that. Edit: Well, tonight's Aircheck/MB chart doesn't list this as going for adds on the 26th, but at least Billboard lists it as going for adds on that date!

This song truly touches my heart. I can relate a little. Lee Ann is such an amazing story teller through song. Please support her and similar acts and let country radio that there is still a place for talent and emotion.

Possibly I'm seeing things, but I just spotted this song labeled as Greatest Gainer after 1 day of the new Billboard chart week, up a little more than 200k in audience. It will need about 500k, maybe a bit less than that, to chart in the Billboard Airplay top 60. And one week of charting would be one more week than I was expecting.
I am aware that the RTT is not always reliable, and that a 200k gain is not in reality the greatest gainer even one day into the chart week. But I do believe the 200k, and so 3 days like that would do the trick, and this remarkable song would make it onto at least one weekly BB chart.
I will be so happy that I will go a full week, I mean day, without complaining about how miserable the country charts are nowadays. If, that is, this magnificent song does chart for at least one week.

If, that is, this magnificent song does chart for at least one week. This was getting airplay at only one station last week (WSIX in Nashville), and no stations reported it as an add yesterday on Mediabase. Nevertheless, I checked AllAccess this morning and half a dozen stations started playing this one yesterday. In addition to 12 spins in the last week at WSIX, "Send It On Down" has picked up 2 plays each (most likely all of them coming yesterday) at KASE-Austin, TX; KKIX-Fayetteville, AR; KTST-Oklahoma City, OK; KZSN-Wichita, KS; KHEY-El Paso, TX; and KSSN-Little Rock, AR. www.allaccess.com/mediabase/q/report/starters/song/WOMASIOD/format/C1That only adds up to 159k in Mediabase audience, though, so perhaps there are a few Billboard-only spins out there as well? In any case, it would be great if this could chart. These stations will have to keep spinning it at least 1-2 times per day though over the course of the week, if Lee Ann is going to chart with this (or she'll have to pick up spins at even more stations).

Thanks for the detailed information. The exact number on RTT was +2105, so there is a missing 50k. Easy for one, maybe two, BB-only stations to account for that. At the rate of 200k a day, this song will easily accumulate enough audience. Even 5 days at that rate would get the job done, no matter how many recurrents there are this week. If the song's done getting spins after only 1 or 2 days, then I'll go back to my usual state of hopelessness. I think it's better that this is a result of a good handful of stations rather than only 1 or 2. They don't have to all keep spinning it. 3 or 4 of the stations would be fine.

This has to be one of the best if not THE BEST 'CLASSIC' country album of the past 20 years... (I can think of Pam Tillis' "Sweetheart's Dance" as my favourite of the 90s). It's solid, every song is great and if they're going for a third single, I would go with "Chances Are". Anyone who hasn't got this CD, GO GET IT!! :)

You have a better chance than I do, a few hundred miles to your east. (I did spend 3 years of my life in Kansas, but farther north. But that was a long time ago.) Just want to hear it one time on the radio and see it on the chart, but if I don't get to be the one to hear it, I will be equally happy if it's you.
