Not sure if this is the correct thread for this. I wanted to know if anyone knows what happened to some of Country's best artists that we haven't heard from in a long time!...I'm talking about Patty Loveless - last album: MOUNTAIN SOUL II (2009) Faith Hill - last album: FIREFLIES (2005) Pam Tillis - last album: RHINESTONED (2007) (last solo album) Mark Wills, Clay Walker, just to name a few...
These are such great artists and maybe they're not making music because they cannot compete in today's country market???

Last I heard he's got some new music that should be out this year. His first single from his tenth album will be titled "Rock the Radio". He is still signed to Curb Records.

Although some of the artists referenced within the original post have actually released music since the projects that were also mentioned, I understand the intentions and general direction of the thread. Along those lines, and though she has continued to sporadically release music over the years, I miss Linda Davis. I wish she was more active, musically speaking, because she's extremely talented.

I heard Patty Loveless give a radio interview around the time that George Jones died and she more or less admitted that she had retired , moved away from Nashville and had no immediate plans to record. She wouldnt completely rule out any future work though.
And Pam Tillis still tours fairly regularly , and released the Dos Divas project with Lorrie Morgan in 2013.

Patty has always been pretty much my favorite singer. It's been reported where she's made comments saying she may be done. This hurts my heart. She lives in Georgia with her husband and seems to be happy. I assume she has no need to work again, but I hope the mood hits her to record and tour again.

Alan Jackson hasn't released any new music for awhile and Toby Keith seems to have quit. And by Toby Keith seems to have quit you mean he keeps hammering out mediocre efforts year after year. and as for Clay Walker.. he performed "Rock The Radio" on the riverfront in Nashville last June and said it was his new single.. but it has never been released as far as i know.

Pam Tillis - last album: RHINESTONED (2007) (last solo album) She's been on tour with Lorrie Morgan (the Grits & Glamour Show) for the past couple of years actually. They just announced a date for a show here in Austin during the rodeo in late March, so I guess the tour must be successful enough to keep it going into 2015. They also released a duets album in 2013 I believe. One artist that comes to mind for me is David Kersh as I really liked his first two albums (1996 and 1998). Last I remember hearing he was just kind of fed up with the music business and just wasn't happy doing it any longer. I believe he lives out somewhere here in central Texas. Another artist is Ricky Van Shelton. I know he pretty much retired from the business, but he hasn't made a peep in a long, long, long time. It sure would be nice if came out of semi-retirement for something small here and there but alas I'm not expecting that to happen.

Unfortunately, Travis Tritt. I believe his last studio album of new material was 2007's "The Storm". However I have heard news of a Marty Stuart/Travis Tritt project in the works so that makes me super excited :)

Alan Jackson hasn't released any new music for awhile and Toby Keith and George Strait haven't had too ten hits for a couple years To answer in the order given: 1. Alan Jackson's last CD was released in 2013 called The Bluegrass Album. 2. Toby Keith's last top ten was Beers Ago in 2012 (#6). 3. George Strait's last top ten was Give It All We Got Tonight in 2013 (#2).

Tracy Byrd hasn't released a new album since 2006 with Different Things and Mark Chesnutt seems to have called it quits since his last album in 2010 with Outlaw. Neal McCoy released a tribute album to Charley Pride in 2013, Sammy Kershaw, Aaron Tippin, and Joe Diffie released a collaboration album in 2013. Doug Stone's last new music was in 2007 with My Turn. Trace Adkins hasn't released new music since 2013.

I miss Jessica Harp. She only got to release one album and then basically had to retire from her music career and become a songwriter because she saw the writing on the wall and knew that the going for female country stars was too tough. She has one of my favorite voices, and I loved A Woman Needs. I haven't heard anything about her since then.

He released the "Headlights, Taillights and Radios" in 2013 (I believe)... Yes he did. In fact there were 4 singles released to radio from the album: "Stop, Drop, & Roll" "Footprints On The Moon" "Lie" "Blacktop" Though I have no memory of "Blacktop" being sent to country radio.

Travis Tritt put out The Calm After in July 2013 on his own label.
Tracy Byrd has decided to raise his family and has said he won't record or tour until they're graduated from high school, if he even does that.

Travis Tritt put out The Calm After in July 2013 on his own label. "The Calm After" was just a repackaging of "The Storm" album from 2007 with two additional tracks added. He released the "Headlights, Taillights and Radios" in 2013 (I believe)... Aaron Tippin & Doug Stone (along with Ken Mellons , Daryle Singletary, Rhondda Vincent , John Anderson, Marty Raybon and some others that Im forgetting) will appear on my buddy Kevin Moons new album "Throwback" next month. Who was Ken Mellons and Daryle Singletary? Two neo-traditionalists from the 90's. While "Jukebox Junkie" & "Amen Kind Of Love" have been their biggest charting records ,They were far from both artists best efforts.

Didn't know you knew Moon. Guy is awesome and a true throwback. Let me know when this is out officially, I will be purchasing,. Can't wait to hear him with Singletary, Anderson and Raybon.

I think Singletary would be more recognized for "Too Much Fun" since radio seems to still play this song here and there.

Also, Jody Stevens of Fast Ryde helped co-produce Cole Swindell's album including his song "Chillin' It".

Amen Kind Of Love could be his most famous, although "I Let Her Lie" will always by my favorite by Daryle Singletary. If you haven't heard "Lie" off of Tracy Lawrence's latest album, take a listen. It charted low for a few weeks (either on the national chart or on the indicator chart) but honestly should have been a medium-sized hit for him.

It didn't chart on the airplay chart or the Mediabase chart. It only charted on the secondary charts. The problem is that Tracy did not have any kind of promotion team to attempt to work it at mainstream radio. "Lie" was released for the purpose to chart on the Indicator, Activator, and Music Row charts. It is a great song though and most of that album was great.

I remember hearing David Kersh had to retire due to vocal issues. I hear that he quit because he just didn't want to do it anymore. He had a notice saying as such on his website a long time ago.
