I saw the "Rolling in the Deep" video on GAC once. Not that country-sounding, but overall I could see Adele working in country.

I've always felt like a lot of their songs, even though pop, had a nice "Country-ish" flair to them... this one, being cowritten and produced by Mutt Lange, is one of the most obvious. That same station also used to play their song "Runaway". I love Runaway! The Corrs were pretty successful here in Brasil back in the day. They had a lot of hits on radio!

I mentioned Trout Fishing in America a few times. Some of their stuff is children's music and novelties, but they do have some good songs that truly sound country.

Like half the songs on this sound like they could pass for country music with only minor changes.

Ed Sheeran - "Castle On The Hill"
Not necessarily the instrumentation, but the lyrics and structure of this song very much have a country feel to me. Great song.

John Mayer has a few, but I'd say "Who You Love" and "You're No One Til Someone Lets You Down" from Paradise Valley stand out the most to me. I'd definitely add his new one, "Love On The Weekend", to the list. It has a definite country sound to me.

Gin Blossoms "Follow You Down" could easily be a country song. Some of EYB's early stuff sounds very similar.

I'm not familiar with that song, so I just listened to it. I definitely see what you mean. Both songs make great use of the harmonica and they're in the same key.

Harry Styles solo debut album has this song on it 'Two Ghosts" that has a country feel to it, reminds me of his ex Taylor Swift's Country Pop music from the Speak Now/Red eras.

Courtney Barnett - "How To Boil An Egg". This new song from the Australian artist sounds like some honky tonk songs. (P.S. Check out her debut album if you love indie rock!)

I have just discovered Avril Lavigne's "I'm With You", and I am absolutely in love Such a melancholy melody with strong lyrics and a heartbreaking vocal delivery. And production-wise it would fit perfectly with any of the big pop-country ballads from the ladies of the early '00s. In particular I think Cassadee Pope could do a real kick-ass version of this song... I am getting chills now just imagining it. What do you think, raylatch98? :)

I've always liked Avril Lavigne and I can see why people say Cassadee Pope sounds like her. My favorite part is when she sings "I don't know who you are but I" That part right there is by far my favorite part of the song.

Cassadee Pope has always sounded so much like Avril Lavigne to me vocally and that's a big part of my love for her as Avril is one of my favorite pop stars. She holds so much nostalgia with me having grown up with her music. Oh and bboat11, Cassadee actually covered this on The Voice, so you won't have to imagine what that would sound like, lol She's also covered "My Happy Ending" by Avril as well.

If I suggest it, it will turn out that it already exists somewhere! Ever since I found out she passed on the song, I have wanted to hear Sara Evans sing "Jesus, Take The Wheel"... Cover gods, let it be so!

Okay, I was kinda getting a subtle vibe from the studio version, but then she performed it on the BBMAs and omg what kind of heaven is this?! I think it would be awesome if she threw out a minor remix (like the performance above) to country radio. It would probably get enough curiosity spins to chart in the 40s or 50s with minimal effort, imo. ETA: Oh and based on when you posted that I'm wondering now if you watched the same performance when it aired (instead of late like me) and thought the same thing and that's why you posted that in the first place, lol.

Haha yeah, I posted that just as I saw her live performance. I totally agree with you! She should definitely service a country remix to radio.

That song is not really Reba's vocal style, and is just SO definitively Martina's style, that it is difficult for me to imagine Reba singing it. I am sure it would have been incredible though I wish we could hear that too.

I was listening to Demi Lovato's "Made in the USA" and I had forgotten that the bridge of the sound has country-sounding instrumentation. I feel like the song was stripped down and perhaps had more country instrumentation it might be able to pass for a country-pop song (or at least sound more country than "The Fighter").

Several songs from Kesha's new album, Rainbow, sound fairly country to me:
"Bastards" sounds like something Willie Nelson would do musically and lyrically. "Hunt You Down" starts out sounding reminiscent of a Johnny Cash song, and there's lyrical references that allude to him as well ("angel all in black" in the first verse; "life is so perfect when you walk the line" in the bridge) "Old Flames (Can't Hold a Candle to You)" -- this one is just obvious. Even has Dolly Parton herself on it.

St. Vincent - "Happy Birthday, Johnny"
The fact that it has steel guitar makes it more country than (at least) 20% song on country radio.

I was going to say "Honey, I'm Good" by Andy Grammer, or "Bull" by Drake Bell, "Let It Rain" by Sara Bareilles could probably fit on country radio these days.
