Kenny's another artist whose material I should be more familiar with than I am.

I don't really know enough of his stuff to make a bottom.

I don't dislike Kenny Rogers, but I've never been compelled to go out of my way to explore his discography. He has some great songs, but a lot of what I've heard has this really slick and boring AC-style production that isn't to my taste at all. Although the same could be said about Ronnie Milsap, whose music I love. Go figure. I admit I would probably like Rogers more if I was more familiar with his non-singles and non-popular eras, so yeah.
Top 1. The Greatest (probably the best baseball song ever) 2. Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In) 3. Coward of the County (definitely a song that could never be a hit today) 4. The Gambler (although I prefer Bobby Bare's version) 5. Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town 6. Buy Me a Rose 7. The Last Ten Years (Superman)
Bottom Probably everything else I'm familiar with (Islands in the Stream, Daytime Friends, Through the Years, We've Got Tonight, She Believes in Me, etc., all of which are "bleh" to me)

Like 1. Crazy (hit #1 in 1984; seems like this one is a forgotten #1. Haven't heard on the radio in forever) 2. Lucille 3. The Last Ten Years (Superman) 4. Coward of the County 5. The Gambler 6. Love Will Turn You Around 7. She Believes in Me 8. Don’t Fall in Love with a Dreamer 9. Islands in the Stream 10. What About Me (not really country)
Dislike 1. Through the Years 2. I Don’t Need You

Top 1. The Greatest (probably the best baseball song ever) "Swinging For The Fence" by Billy Dean begs to differ. I like "The Greatest", but the twist ending never made too much sense when it came to the rest of the song. I mean, I know the kid could have looked at the cup half full and he was a great pitcher by tossing up the ball so good, but he still struck out on three straight pitches and even I as a little kid could have seen that baseball probably wasn't going to take me very far.

Islands In The Stream (station changer, sorry) 4. Through The Years 5. Planet Texas You don't like Kenny Rogers' 'cosmo cowboy' offering (#5)? I have to give him props for releasing it in 1989 (#30 Billboard peak). It was definitely a different sound for Rogers. I liken that song to when he was in the First Edition and released Just Dropped In To See What Condition My Condition Was In. I am surprised it got that high on the charts. Being 1989, the New Traditionalist Movement was in full swing and artists like George Strait, Randy Travis, Dwight Yoakam, and Ricky Van Shelton were dominating the action. Big & Rich should cover that song. Here is a video of Planet Texas: So far, I do not see ANY love for Morning Desire. I love that song and have been singing it forever. I have saluted it and its parent CD, The Heart Of The Matter in my columns.

Could you please be more direct? Thanks. The lyrics. The "No sir, these cowboys came from space" and "pressurized jeans" lines are stupid as all get out.

Although not a single, I prefer his version of "Ol' Red" over George Jones and Blake Shelton's versions.
