I'm anxious to hear this. I actually really enjoyed "Simple Life" ... his voice is unique, yet not so 'out there' that he's a good fit for country radio.

I feel like his outfit does not warrant the cowboy hat in the single cover... anyway, I don't recall his MCA single at all, but I remember his name. This'll be Dot's second act to promote to radio after Maddie & Tae, correct? Or am I forgetting about someone else?

Craig Wayne Boyd ( The Voice winner) is on their roster as well though I think they will send a true promoted single after "My Baby's Got A Smile On Her Face" is done.

I've always found him intriguing as an artist. The timing was wrong for his first release with MCA amongst the rise of the FGL/Luke sound. I do not like this imaging at all. He's more rugged and Appalachian this feels hipster gone wrong. I hope the music is right, excited to hear this one.

Acoustic performanceIt appears Drake White has not changed one bit since "Simple Life". I'll be interested to see how this fares at radio, judging by the acoustic version. Still need to hear the studio version to get a good prediction on how this one will perform.

Yeah, I gotta be honest...I wasn't a huge fan of that acoustic performance...but I'll reserve judgment until I hear a studio version. I think Dot Records will have to really be invested in his chart runs cause his image and style isn't exactly what country radio has been going for the past couple years. I agree with cws3030 that "Simple Life" could not have been released at a worse time as early to mid 2013 wasn't really playing music like Drake's at that point in time. Hopefully the timing is better now. I agree though about wanting a studio version but the acoustic one gives me a pretty good indicator that this is one of those upbeat, catchy songs with an ultra country vocal that he gives. What I'm interested in, is does the studio version have a rootsy feel or does it have more of a ultra produced feel to it.

Here's the studio version for those who can listen. If Simple Life was playing it too safe for a new artist, this might be the exact opposite. I think I like it, although it's a bit all over the place, but I just don't see radio giving this much run at all. Best case scenario I could see this selling relatively well if the song can at least sneak into the top 40 or 30.

So it'll be interesting to see if radio embraces him (they seem to like his music from his early radio tours, etc.)

I loved the picture of Drake White with Wendy Lynn, program director at WYRK in the Billboard Country Update.

36 first week adds for Drake White and "It Feels Good". I really think that's a strong number for this single and shows how impactful Dot Records is having in their short time as a Big Machine imprint. His debut for MCA, "The Simple Life" got 23 adds on impact day in March of 2013.
I still don't quite know what to expect from a song like this in terms of performance, but 36 adds is a pretty good start.

This song is so catchy. I am really enjoying this. He is a talent I want to see have some radio success regardless of how much his music "fits the country bill". Too talented to not be known by so many.

I really really am enjoying this one. I hope it becomes a summer hit!
However, it probably wasn't the wisest idea to rhyme "bank" and "wink" because I totally thought he said something else instead of "wink" and with the song called "It Feels Good", I had to go back and listen again to make sure I mishear that lyric haha

I like the song, it's catchy and fun, but I didn't care for the acoustic performance. I'm not big on his vocals. He's very growly and it's overbearing. I also liked "Simple Life" as a song, but I can't say I was fond of his vocals in that one either.
With spring and summer fast approaching, I could see radio maybe giving this song a chance. It's catchy and radio friendly enough. I think this has potential to do well on the charts. As sabre mentioned, 36 adds isn't a bad start.

Wow, this is...really good. Really different, but really good. I could actually see this being a pretty big hit this summer.

I actually like this one as well. It took a few listens, but that's probably because I was never a fan of his vocals ("The Simple Life"). I do think now his vocal performance fits the song perfectly. It's different but in a good way and it definitely gets stuck in my head.
I think this will make the top 40 with the great first week and the label group backing it, but it does give off a real ultra country sound that hasn't been too popular lately. Should be interesting.

Not feeling this one so far. I want to like it, because parts of the production are interesting, but the melody and vocals don't do a whole lot for me.

This one has been having a better week than it's used to as "It Feels Good" is up 47 spins and over 200k in audience this week. Drake before now has struggled with his audience gains, as even with that gain, this song has gained just 350k in total audience the past 30 days.
I think Dot Records is just trying to wait for some recurrents so that this song can get close to the top 40. I've seen Drake's name pop up at a few events this year, so I think the label really believes in him and that's evident by his recent tour to numerous radio stations. Unfortunately this song is still not selling that great (#858 on the all-genre chart), so if this one is going to make a run into the top 40, patience is the key. In the end though, I don't think this song will be enough to get an album or perhaps EP out there.

WATZ's been spinning this one. Good stuff. I love the "revival tent" feel of the melody and production.

Had a chance to see Drake perform a couple of weeks ago at Tortuga, and he was one of the performers that stood out the most. He has a lot of charisma in his live show, and I think he brings a good unique sound to country music. I'm hoping there's still a chance this one can break out.

Bummer this one isn't performing well. "It Feels Good" lost another 115k in audience today and is down 30 spins and 200k in audience since Sunday. Sam Hunt is the only one going recurrent on MB this upcoming Sunday and we are in desperate need for some songs to get off this chart (Tyler Farr, Easton Corbin, Canaan Smith, Gloriana, Reba, Chase Rice). Though some of those artists I mentioned are not that closed to being finished (Easton, Canaan).

The production on this is pretty cool but I don't much care for his vocals at all, really. The feel of this song (vocally and instrumentally) feels a little more like folk/indie rock style than country, too. Judging only on this song (don't remember his debut single... if I even heard it at all), I feel like he'd be more at home going a route more like Mumford & Sons and other acts like that. A bit of an interesting song, but I can't quite get into it/his voice, and it's not really a style of music I usually align with.

What an unfortunate Mediabase chart trajectory... 8 weeks and still not past #49: 50-50-50-49-50-49-49-XX-50 [06/06/15]

"It Feels Good" has actually lost over 400k in total audience on MB over the past five weeks. Its selling decent I guess for the amount of spins it has gotten but in this chart environment, a new artist (even though this is his second single) with this kind of song is a recipe for a under performing single. This song is so catchy but I really think radio is a tad hesitant with this since it is so much different than what's popular on country radio right now. Nobody has this song in heavy or even medium rotation, and with this chart congestion you get a song that is stuck on the edge of the top 50.

Yes, the cause is clear; and it's sad for so many goods songs right now It's more of what the odds are that you are so unlucky to linger around the same two notches for 8 weeks (bar one, of course)
