This was Keri Hilson's debut single, released in 2008. It peaked at #78 on the Hot 100, #35 at Rhythmic, and #21 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart. I wasn't surprised that this didn't do well; it was a bit anti-climactic, for buzz that she had acquired up until then.

I actually love this. And it should have been a big hit IMO.
Random note, can someone please tell me why the bridge is missing on the album version? Was it just a random f**k-up? There's just an empty instrumental break there where it is in the single version.

It's a really nicely written song. It might have become a hit if offered to someone with better vocal ability.

Iβm still surprised that this song didnβt do better radio/chart-wise. The video was really popular on BET and VH1& MTV had it in moderate rotation.

This song was really generic. Boring verses, nice chorus. It was decent overall. All of this. I remember there being a lot of hype around her striking out on her own after her writing credits and The Way I Are, and this was very limp when it came to those expectations. Her album was good though, and so was most of the second. She never should have stopped writing for others while she was doing that. |
