Big Sean Scores His First No. 1 Album on Billboard 200Rapper Big Sean scores his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart as Dark Sky Paradise bounds in atop the tally. The artist's third album was released through G.O.O.D. Music/Def Jam Records on Feb. 24 and moved 173,000 units in the week ending March 1, according to Nielsen Music. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Pure album sales comprised 81 percent of Dark Sky Paradise's first week (equating to 139,000 copies sold), and it also leads the Top Album Sales chart. With that opening sum, it gives Big Sean his best sales week ever as well, trumping the 87,000 start of his first album, Finally Famous, in 2011. His second studio set, 2013's Hall of Fame, bowed with 72,000. Both sets debuted and peaked at No. 3. Dark Sky Paradise is the third No. 1 album for G.O.O.D. Music, following Common's Finding Forever in 2007 and Kanye West's Yeezus in 2013. Kid Rock collects his eighth top 10 album, as First Kiss debuts at No. 2 with 146,000 units. It also enters at No. 2 on Top Album Sales, with 137,000. The new album is Kid Rock's first release for Warner Bros. Records after a lengthy career with Atlantic Records. All of seven Kid Rock's studio albums beginning with 1998's Devil Without a Cause have reached the top 10. (He claimed an additional top 10 with the compilation The History of Rock.) The Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack holds at No. 3, moving another 108,000 units (down 35 percent). In its three weeks on sale, the album has sold 393,000 copies. That makes it the fastest-selling soundtrack since Fox TV's Glee: The Music -- The Christmas Album shifted 399,000 in its first three weeks (back in late 2010), and the fastest-selling theatrical compilation soundtrack since the first Twilight album moved 396,000 in its first three frames (2008). Drake's former No. 1, If You're Reading This It's Too Late, falls two rungs to No. 4 in its third week on the chart with 99,000 units (down 47 percent). A week ago, it became the first release of 2015 to sell more than a half-million copies. Its three-week sum now stands at 683,000. Taylor Swift's 1989 dips one slot to No. 5 with 78,000 units (down 15 percent). Ed Sheeran's x is also down a position to No. 6, shifting 73,000 units (down 10 percent). Chris Brown and Tyga's collaborative album Fan of a Fan debuts at No. 7 with 67,000 units. It's the seventh top 10 for Brown, and the third for Tyga. Wrapping up the latest top 10 is Sam Smith's In the Lonely Hour (6-8 with 60,000 units; down 17 percent), Imagine Dragons' Smoke + Mirrors (1-9 with 55,000 units; down 72 percent) and Maroon 5's V (7-10 with 49,000 units, up 6 percent). www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6487757/big-sean-first-no-1-album-billboard-200

hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=294923FLAT IS GOODHere’s a surprising stat, occurring as it does deep into a period when the single is king: Album sales are virtually flat year to date. What’s more, 12 albums have had 100k+ weeks during the first two months of this year vs. five at this point last year, while seven albums debuted with 100k or more vs. just two last year. Which proves the old saw that you’ve gotta release records to sell records. Releasing good records makes even more sense. Here’s the breakdown: Album sales were up 5% vs. last week, down 4% vs. the same week last year and down less than 1% year to date, belying if not reversing the pattern we’ve seen in recent years. Digital album sales were up 4% vs. last week, up 1% vs. same week last year and up 4% year to date. Track sales were down 3% vs, last week, down 9% vs. same week last year and down 11% year to date. The industry as a whole was up 2% in TEA vs. last week, down 6% vs. the same week last year and down 4% year to date.

www.hiphopdx.com/index/news/id.32808/title.hip-hop-album-sales-big-sean-drake-chris-brownHip Hop Album Sales: Big Sean, Drake, Chris Brownby Jay Balfour posted Wednesday March 04, 2015 at 09:30AM PST Big Sean’s new album becomes his first ever #1 and Drake falls to #4. For the first time in his career Big Sean has the #1 album in the country. Sean’s Dark Sky Paradise debuted at the top spot less than 3,000 units ahead of Kid Rock’s latest album. Lower down the list, Drake fell from #2 to #4 while Chris Brown and Tyga saw their joint album Fan of a Fan: The Album debut at #7. Big Sean Takes Over #1 With the album already garnering the best reviews of Sean’s fledgling discography, Dark Sky Paradise also becomes his first #1 album on the Billboard 200. The third album from Big Sean sold a total of 139,427 units in its first week of availability, a figure not far off from Nicki Minaj’s recent Pinkprint rollout. Sean's latest was also streamed more than 17 million times. Drake Falls To #4 Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late pushed 58,640 copies last week, a 47% drop in sales from the previous week but enough to keep him within reach of the top spot. The latest numbers bring Drake’s total to 682,504 albums sold. Meanwhile, streams for If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late are still nearly double the amount of the closest runner-up with more than 34 million clocked over the last sales period. Chris Brown & Tyga Debut At #7 While it sold more than both the #5 and #6 albums on the chart, Chris Brown and Tyga’s Fan of a Fan debuted at #7 following its release last week. Fan of a Fan: The Album sold 51,345 units but was only streamed a little more than 6 million times, a figure that pales in comparison to most of the records directly ahead of it. Chris Brown and Tyga also also sold more than 111,000 single song downloads from the release, a number that helped their total activity account peak at 66,508. New management terminated the column. Paul Grein will apparently still write for Yahoo, but it won't be chart news anymore.

Of Mice & Men, Restoring Force: Full Circle (Rise) #40, 7,115 sold This is the deluxe edition of Of Mice & Men’s third album that came out over a year ago. Not bad for a re-release, probably good enough to re-enter the Billboard 200. Also, this uses Top Current Albums, not Top Album Sales.

Thanks for posting all the charts.
By my count, 35 of the 50 albums on Catalog Albums are on the BB 200. There probably are other catalog titles, though (I haven't researched) on the the BB 200, that are not in the catalog top 50. With streaming and TEA in the mix, though, those 35 albums are not ranked on the BB 200 in the order they appear on Catalog Albums.

It returns with 40,000 sold (up 6,875 percent, from 1,000). In June 2014, the first three Led Zeppelin albums were reissued, resulting in re-entries at Nos. 7, 9 and 10 for Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin II and Led Zeppelin III on the chart dated June 21, 2014. Five months later, on Nov. 15, Led Zeppelin IV returned at No. 7 and Houses of the Holy (the band's fifth album) re-entered at No. 12. -- Vance Joy, Dream Your Life Away - No. 24 -- The Google Play store marked down the album to just 99 cents during the tracking week. The singer/songwriter linked both his Twitter and Facebook fans to the offer, leading to its 101 percent overall gain and 291 percent traditional sales increase. It sold 14,000 copies during the week – its best frame since its debut week (18,000) last September. -- OneRepublic, Native - No. 52 -- The band's third album becomes its second to sell a million copies, as it sold another 3,000 in the week ending March 1. Its total sales rise to 1.002 million. The group's last album, 2009's Waking Up, has moved 662,000. Its 2007 debut, Dreaming Out Loud, has sold 1.1 million. -- Of Mice & Men, Restoring Force - No. 55 -- A Feb. 24 reissue of the album (dubbed the Full Circle edition) includes four new bonus tracks. The re-release prompts an 8,000-unit gain for the set (up 650 percent) and a 910 percent rise in pure album sales. -- Rob Zombie, Spookshow International Live - No. 118 -- His second live album, and first since 2007's Zombie Live, bows with 6,000 units. It's his 11th charted set overall. His first live release debuted and peaked at No. 57. -- Soundtrack, Whiplash - No. 146 -- Following its parent film's three Academy Award wins on Feb. 22 (including one for best supporting actor), the soundtrack jumps onto the list with a 223 percent gain in units. It also climbs 6-3 (hitting a new peak) on Jazz Albums.

I need help. My two main sources, Roughstock and Billboard have yet to post sales figures for this week's country albums. Does anyone know how much Montevallo sold this week? It's the #1 country CD? Thanks!
