Years & Years is an English electronica trio, consisting of Olly Alexander, Mikey Goldsworthy and Emre Turkmen. They were the winners of the BBC Sound of 2015 and they were also nominated for the BRITs 2015 Critics' Choice Award. In 2013, they got a deal with Kitsuné Records, releasing the songs "Traps" and "Real" and, a year later, they signed to Polydor Records. An EP called Y&Y was released exclusively in North America this year and it includes the singles "Take Shelter", their UK Top 40 "Desire" and their UK #1 "King", as well as "Memo", which was on the remix package of "Desire". Their debut album is expected to come out in June, as the tweet from Capital FM above mentions, as well as being confirmed by Olly in a recent Twitter Q&A and it will include a song called "Border".

"King" slaaaaaaays. I'm excited for an entire album from them. Also, they're rumored to be performing at Lollapalooza in Chicago this summer.

I love Years & Years. I'm seeing then in NYC on the 31st, but I'm just slightly disappointed out of the 17 tracks on the deluxe version I already have 7 of them so getting only 10 new songs is underwhelming :/

If the deluxe version of Communion is pre-ordered overseas, you'll receive "Worship" as an instant grat, along "Take Shelter", "Desire" and "Memo". However, it's out as a standalone release (with the artwork from the album) in North America, so I'm not sure if this means that their album will be pushed back there. Anyway, you can listen to "Worship" below.

Slightly sad story! I was supposed to see them live at a small venue in NYC back in January but it was cancelled due to a blizzard. Tickets were automatically refunded. The event was rescheduled for late March but no ticket priority was given to original holders. The new date sold out in SECONDS since their profile has raised so significantly in the few months between... and I doubt they'll ever be playing a venue that small again (until they're washed up a decade from now and then I won't care lol). Anyway, f**k snow.

"King" gives me some minor Pet Shop Boys vibes and I love that. Can't wait to get a full album from these guys since they have truly yet to disappoint with their material.

I had tickets to that show too that got cancelled but they sent out an email to ticket holders for a special presale with a password like 4 days before it went out to the General public luckily I was able to get tickets. Sucks you couldn't get tickets (maybe spam folder?) ... I think you're right that they won't be playing smells venues for long :/ but they are awesome :))

Years & Years sat down with Music Connection and they chatted about their first time at SXSW, their EP (I think they didn't know that there was one out in North America) and their upcoming tour.

Couple of interviews this week with Olly Alexander; the first is the same one I posted in the "King" thread. downtownerdc.com/a-frank-conversation-with-years-years-frontman-olly-alexander/He talks about having had a lot of dysfunctional relationships, and being stuck in a cycle of being addicted to rejection and always choosing someone who was going to reject him. This, oddly enough, sounds a lot like a friend of mine who recently moved back to Dallas from Kansas City; he's had four different exes from around there contact him, and he's told me that he feels like he has as many exes as he does because he only wants "what he can't have" at the time - and once he gets what he wants, he no longer wants. Friend's birthday is July 10; Olly's is July 15 - maybe it's a Cancer thing? And LOL @ the question of is he going to do a big "coming out" interview. Because this totally doesn't serve that purpose already? www.earmilk.com/2015/03/24/years-years-frontman-olly-alexander-talks-u-s-tour-debut-lp-communion-interview/In this one, he had this to say about Communion: Though songs like "King", "Take Shelter", and "Worship" all sound like biblical words, a lot of the songs are about sex and relationships - "so it's kind of a communion of like body about my relationships." Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I know I already posted in the King thread but they were amazing last night. Seriously great show. And just saw on their Instagram (I have no idea how to link stuff here) that Katy Perry was in the audience at their show last night!

I went to their "after party" which was fun, except Olly never showed up and the other two simply played off of their personal iTunes playlists. At least they have good taste and seem to like Beyonce!

You'll get a bunch of options; Instagram is the camera. From there it should be self-guiding. :) Thus embedding the Katy pic should turn out...something like this: https://instagram.com/p/08IV34Sm-k

Is it true that Olly and Emre are a couple? Or is that just internet hearsay?

Attitude interviews Years & Years’ gay frontman Olly AlexanderThe Attitude interview that Juan linked to in the "Shine" thread. I'm feeling kind of mixed about it; like, it's nice to dive in and get this better look at Olly's personality, and he expresses himself so well without it seeming like he's making a conscious effort to do so. He just seems so comfortable himself, and with everything in general - good, bad, ugly, whatever. Is it weird to feel disconcerted over more and more interviews with just him though? IDK. Maybe I'm being cynical about it because of how often the story goes: "beginning, group/band, solo" - the more we see interviews with just Olly, the more it creates an appearance of separation, even if completely unfounded, and I can't say I'm fond of that.

A live stripped version of "Eyes Shut" was uploaded on their YouTube/VEVO channel as a part of VEVO Lift UK.
The Attitude interview that Juan linked to in the "Shine" thread. O. I knew I was missing something! Thank you for posting the article here. Anyway, I read that people suspect that Olly is dating Neil Amin-Smith, who is one of the members of Clean Bandit, but I don't know if it's a Tumblr fan-fiction as well.
