I remember feeling vindicated that she made top 20 on the Hot 100 with this after Les Moonves' blacklisting. I honestly think the remnants of the blacklist is why PDs were more hesitant to support this when 4 Minutes and Touch My Body were blowing up at the same time.

This is a hot song. But I do think someone like Britney fits this mold a little better.

Excellent song. It went top 20 which is a decent comeback, but deserved better.
Everyone went very pop in 2008, and I loved that!

It's kind of wild how this sounds dated, but not because it feels so 2008. It feels so 2010-2012. Janet was ahead of the times! Plop this in a playlist with "TiK ToK," "Like a G6," "Telephone," "Boom Boom Pow," "Till the World Ends," etc. and this doesn't sound out of place in the slightest.

Wow, even though I still think it sounds fresh (so many artists are pulling from the past that I don’t know what’s “current” anymore), two things can be true at the same time and I agree with this assessment. It was ahead of its time but it was also of its time. There are a lot of k-pop songs that sound like this in the 2020s, though, which speaks to its regional sustainability. This could be a k-pop girl group song that would be considered trendy today, but not so much the “Boom Boom Pows,” “OMGs” or “Like a G6s” of the world. “Feedback” was just done very well. It’s now a staple in her touring repertoire; she has to do it because it’s pretty much her only true Gen Z hit.
