"Near You" spent 17 weeks at #1 on the Most Played By Jockeys chart (aka the airplay chart). Pretty sure the Best Sellers chart was the most official chart (out of Billboard's 3 main singles chart).

Gary, don't know which chart off hand. We all discussed it (with "2m" a few years ago) In Record Research's Pop Memories "Near You" is listed as the #1 song of the pre rock era based on 17 weeks (1890-1954); White Christmas has 14 weeks, and there are 8 songs including the famous Tennessee Waltz at 13 weeks. I wouldn't put too much stock in Classic AT40's pre-Hot 100 stats. Over the years Casey would go back and forth on what the most successful Rock Era song was, sometimes listing Don't Be Cruel, occasionally going with Singing the Blues, and once even going with the 9 week Mack the Knife (clearly only counting the Hot 100 stats). Inconsistent. 2m? Yeah, I remember him ;) The one Joel Whitburn book I didn't buy. Just curious. I know for consistency, the "Best Sellers" chart is often considered the official one. If you believe Wikipedia, it was the Most Played by Jockeys chart apparently.

I guess it can be subjective as to which is the "official" or "main" chart, (much more so pre-Hot 100), so you can only give objective, definitive statistics as to what has been the longest running #1, e.g., for each chart.
Btw, does 2m still post here? I don't think I've seen anything from him (or was it a her) in a while.

Uptown Funk has good timing. It doesn't even feel as big as Happy, Blurred Lines or Thrift Shop. The song deserves its success definitely. BUT it is very good timing indeed. There's no real threat in the top 10 right now. I'd watch out for BBHMM though!!

There's no real threat in the top 10 right now. I'd watch out for BBHMM though!! The ONLY time BBHMM gets to #1 on iTunes when she performs it or it goes viral temporally. I love me some pop/dance Rihanna but its clear her enormous fanbase are basically the ones coming out in droves to buy this vs. the GP. Im seeing very, very little positive feedback for the song. However, 'if' the video is smoking hot and maybe some kind of a tweaked up, more pop friendly remix/ version comes out she has a remote shot. Dont think it will happen (if it even does lol) in time to detrone UF anytime soon.

Please make a viral video to a song that is contending to dethrone UF. Because I do not want UF to tie or break the record. BTW, what are your predictions for this week's Top 10?

Please let this UF reign stop. Stream the music videos for its strongest contenders. Download them on iTunes. Just DON'T LET UPTOWN FUNK BREAK THE FUCKING RECORD!

Stream the music videos for its strongest contenders. Download them on iTunes. Just DON'T LET UPTOWN FUNK BREAK THE f**king RECORD! OK WE GET IT! As you can see no one is willing to put in the time and effort just to conspire with you on a strategy to dethrone a song you don't like so I don't get why you continue to post the same thing over and over again. You have made your point clearly and concisely the first 10 times. Jeez.
