I heard this today and immediately knew it was HAIM. I was a bit surprised it was Calvin Harris because I didn't expect them to be the type but good for them getting some recognition finally. Their debut album was insanely good. I like that this song is clearly a Calvin Harris production but also so clearly HAIM. Best of both.

The last single did just fine for a 3rd single.

Not sure how this will do. We all know if flopped in the UK, but now its been a flop all over Europe, and that is after "Outside" reached #1 in some countries like Germany.

I wouldn't mind if this was the last single from this project.

It doesn't seem as long because these singles have had shorter runs with higher peaks sometimes compared to the previous one, but this is the 6th single pulled from it right? And Under Control wasn't even 2 years ago.

That'll be a surprise. Calvin is performing on pop way better than on the hot 100 lately, his last tow singles were barely top 20 (Outside not even that), and this song didn't perform well on UK (so it's not like if this was an smash hit everywhere).

I would be really good for HAIM if this was a hit, in their album there's a good bunch of songs that would be pop hits if they have a chance

I don't think single order really matters for dance/EDM artists in the United States as their albums tend to not sell high amounts, so the effect that generally comes with older singles is much less prevalent for them. For example, Calvin Harris' biggest single in the states from his last album wasn't the lead single (I would say "Sweet Nothing" or "I Need Your Love" were probably the biggest even if INYL charted lower than "Feel So Close," I think it had a stronger impact overall). Plus, when we're dealing with songs in which other artists are doing the vocals, many people generally tend to associate said single with that artist rather than Calvin, and that helps combat the "this is the nth single from Calvin's album" effect as well.

I don't know about "Blame," but I know "Outside" was definitely hurt by "Love Me Like You Do," and I think many would argue that "Pray to God" is a much better single choice than both "Blame" and "Outside." Also, the US market is vastly different from the UK's. "Pray to God" seems to be better suited for the US market than the UK's to me, and it definitely would not be the first time an artist from the UK had a single that did much better in the US than their home country. Speaking of Ellie Goulding, "Lights" is a prime example of that. (#2 in the US versus #49 in the UK) Then there's also Adele with "Set Fire to the Rain" (#11 UK vs #1 US) and to a much lesser extent "Rolling in the Deep" (#2 in the UK versus #1 in the US for seven weeks).

I agree to an extent, but I think bigger names like Calvin who have the benefit of Pop radio consistently behind them can only go so far deep into an album before diminishing returns set in.

For example, Calvin Harris' biggest single in the states from his last album wasn't the lead single (I would say "Sweet Nothing" or "I Need Your Love" were probably the biggest even if INYL charted lower than "Feel So Close," I think it had a stronger impact overall).

I have to disagree here, although it may be a case of varying markets. "Feel So Close" definitely feels like a much bigger hit than "I Need Your Love." "Sweet Nothing" does as well.

That said, "Pray To God" is off to a great start and my personal favorite Calvin song in a long time...so I'll be rooting for its success.

I could see where someone might state that. I would definitely say that Calvin along with David Guetta are much bigger names and are more prone to the lengthier album effect than someone like, say, Zedd, but it's also not nearly as comparable as someone like Taylor Swift or Ariana Grande who are much bigger names, so more people are likely to know their album tracks before they become singles, giving them that lengthier album cycle effect that hurts their later singles.

Would you say "Feel So Close" was bigger than "Sweet Nothing"? I can potentially see the case for it being bigger than "I Need Your Love" as my perception is probably skewed since it was the bigger hit of the three within my age group in this area as well as it definitely being the one I liked the most, but I feel like "Sweet Nothing" was still bigger than "Feel So Close."

But even at that, the fact that we can discuss this topic without mentioning "Let's Go" kind of showcases what I was talking about. The second single was easily bested by the third and fourth.
