This week is a snoozefest compared to last week. Why does the week after a clusterfuck always very boring? (I'm going to call this Post-Madonna depression, named after the Madonna Rebel Heart #2 clusterfuck)

I remember once Nicki's video dropped, "Anaconda" soared. It was def a race between Anaconda/Shake It Off for #1.

What is UP with that 14 week stumbling block?!? It will be 7 songs. We need a decisive runner-up, already! In all seriousness, it is interesting how many of these songs collapse very quickly. It's as if an unspoken national fatigue sets in instantly. Well, "UF" could still get back to #1 in another chart or two. It depends how sales for "SYA" hold up. Also, I wonder if "OSD" could have had more weeks at #1 if the commercial single hadn't been deleted and if airplay was as it is now with all formats counting.

Am I the only one who fears a HUGE fight will break out here over people arguing over these 2 songs sometime these next 7 days? Fears...more like anticipates I like the title of the thread "See You Again Uptown Funk!" That implies we are waving goodbye to Uptown Funk Irony in that See you again serves One Sweet day message vibes

What is the theory/reasoning for why "UF" always trends up on the weekend? Weekend party playlists? People hearing it at the club? Idk. There's always songs that seem to get boosts on the weekends for whatever reason.

Ok I don't get why people are so confident that SYA will hold on for a second week lol. It is possible, but I wouldn't bet any money on it. I can see it returning to #1 later when airplay kicks in similar to Lollipop and We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together (seriously I was most surprised when Whistle returned to #1 lol but I didn't mind at all). Given how strong the songs near the top are, if SYA falls to less than 300k next week (which it probably will), it will probably fall to #3 and it'll be between UF and Sugar for the #1 spot. The movie is a hit in a big way. The "tribute" song tied to the movie is striking a chord. Streaming/Airplay will increase during the next two weeks because of this. Although one week and drop like a rock is certainly possible. These would be factors working against it.
While all this is happening, UF will continue to decline as well.
Now if See you again is the song to overtake One Sweet day's 16 week record...the true irony

A look at the latest pop bars has UF back up to #3 and starting to make some gains against SYA. It's up to nearly .28 compared to .21 yesterday. Has SYA peaked? Is this too little, too late for UF?

Yeah now that SYA got 3 dark reds and UF is gaining again it could go either way. Considering that it already got so high, how much higher could it possibly go on the weekend? This is quite a nailbiter...

A week at #2 would still tie the all-time record for longest run in the top 2

This is quite a nailbiter... I'm assuming you are working on an assumption that these updates will hold? It's possible the trend for "SYA" will reverse once people start seeing the movie tonight and over the weekend. It's also possible "SYA" has already sold enough to be #1. How far ahead in sales does it seem like "SYA" needs to be to get #1?

How far ahead in sales does it seem like "SYA" needs to be to get #1? Using the Daniel Collins' formula UF should have around 50,000 points next week, so if the sales of SYA are about 450K next week it would have 45,000. Supposing about 8K extra points of good streaming and bad airplay it would be enough to get #1. And the forecast is 510K downloads, so SYA have a huge probability.

It would need to continue the dark greens for the whole weekend. Obviously the movie will be viewed much less this weekend than last weekend so that's why I'm not so sure SYA can get many more greens this week. I could be wrong though. SYA was just over 2x the next highest song on Monday morning (the beginning of the sales tracking week). I think at this point in the week SYA sold about 250k so far and more than half of the week is over. Unless it gains hugely this weekend, it won't sell much more than 400k.
