Again theres still ALL of today and tomorrow. Its only 1:40 EST (which is what I think the chart week goes by) though its possible they go by PST since its still Sun there at 9 pm and obviously part of the US lol. Yes, the streams are picking up for SYA but I think even BB said its all gonna be about the sales difference. Still feeling SYA barely has this, but if UF keeps making these kind of gains and SYAs starts seeing major decreases it IS possible since the wkd is when I think sales are the highest. Come on UF!

Even when looking at worldwide iTunes charts, SYA is starting to lose steam in a lot of countries. Yep, think the hype is def. starting to shows of weakening. If the song was 'that' special, w/ the mega killing its doing at the box office, if the song was that great it would still easily be getting constant green updates w/ no signs of slipping. Sorry, but no. When big artist release their songs generally they climb fast to the top to then drop a bit till airplay rise and then go to the top again. Going down is perfectly normal for SYA LOL who is the 'big' artist youre talking about here though?

No song (that I can remember) is ever able to maintain a 70+% lead for long... it's a little unrealistic to expect anything to sustain selling in such high quantities for an extended period of time... That doesn't mean it won't stay ontop of iTunes for another month or something. Or it could tumble. Airplay will likely be the deciding factor, as usual.

Going down is perfectly normal for SYA LOL who is the 'big' artist youre talking about though? From Rihanna to Katy, everytime they release a new song (specially if it's a first single) the reaction on itunes it's the same. What's not normal is keeping the number 2 song on itunes selling less than 0.3 for a lot of time And by the way, i'm not saying that's what it's going to happen with SYA, but going down and having red updates it's perfectly normal and has nothing to do with the song being great or not

Side note: UF just got to #1 on Urban AC. This is the fourth format it tops after Pop, HAC and Rhythmic. I hope it will be an official one. How many songs have topped four airplay charts thus far? I know when Happy topped a record six they did an article about it. Poor Royals could've had 7 but it got blocked on AC and Rhythmic :(
Anyway, this is what I know off the top of my head (2011 onward):
Rolling In The Deep Somebody That I Used To Know Ho Hey Blurred Lines Royals Happy All Of Me Stay With Me Am I Wrong

Ellie might get a second airplay #1 without ever hitting #1 on the hot 100. Has anyone else ever had that happen? Problem, Am I Wrong, Stay With Me, Habits I was referring to an artist with 2 or more Airplay #1s but no Hot 100 #1s. I know that lots of songs have hit #1 on airplay without #1 on Hot 100.

Jewel and Goo Goo Dolls are the only ones I found, both during the 90s "singles are dead" phase of the Hot 100:
Jewel You Were Meant For Me Foolish Games
Goo Goo Dolls Iris Slide

Didn't Alanis have a bunch of airplay #1's? Or was that just pop? lol.

Also, Problem didn't hit #1 on airplay, it was #2. I bet a lot of urban acts during the 2000s did it, especially in featured roles.

Because, the UK is a weird market where songs are held back for several weeks before being released digitally, in order to gain a high debut in the charts. Some songs, like "Jealous", are held back for a ridiculous amount of time though. It was released there just this week lmao.

I guess in the case of Jealous it was held back for several MONTHS, for whatever reason

Getting more and more convinced UF can fight it off. Especially since Billboard chimed in it would be close based off the weekday sales, but now that the weekend has gone much better for UF so far I think UF can do it.

Alanis Hot 100 airplay top 10's You Learn #1 5 weeks Uninvited #4 Thank U #2 Head Over Feet #3 Ironic #2 I wonder what song blocked off Ironic on the Hot 100 airplay chart? That song was huge and all over the radio at that time.

I wonder what song blocked off Ironic on the Hot 100 airplay chart? That song was huge and all over the radio at that time. These are the two that were #1 during its peak: March 9, 1996 - "Missing", 5 weeks April 13, 1996 - "Because You Loved Me", 14 (!) weeks Without looking, I can't be sure whether it shot up to #2 and threatened to unseat "Missing", then Celine leapfrogged her, or whether Celine held her off all by herself - but, there you go.

Alanis Hot 100 airplay top 10's You Learn #1 5 weeks Uninvited #4 Thank U #2 Head Over Feet #3 Ironic #2 No doubt Uninvited (possibly one of, if not her best song) woulda hit def. #1 if it had a damn single! Rrrr sooo many mid-late 90s stellar (still classic and present day radio staples) songs that were criminally robbed of multiple weeks at #1 or damn close due to record company greed!

BB is basically as shady as Hits lol. Of *course they want drama/suspense= *traffic $$! They're every bit, if not more aware than we are at how much people are watching this! lol. I wanna believe its not already a done deal. At this point I think either the deal is sealed (I'm leaning a little more towards that) or they are indeed keeping it real and saying its ALL gonna come down to these last few days (and if UF can catch up enough w/ sales). One or the other.

We never know what airplay only songs would have hit #1 with a commercial single. I would have bet a million bucks "Ironic" "You Learn" or "Semi Charmed Life" would have been #1 on the Hot 100, but when they finally got released, no.
Keep in mind rock songs never sold well back then.

In a way Im glad Im leaving soon for a while but omg looking like UF is now close to 50% of SYA and not letting up! While SYA is trending more and more red. Its the damn wkd. when more people see the movie! SYA shoulda been easily been doing what UF is doing now lol! Dunno if its too late but Im 'kind of' w/ PopBox that if somehow by later tonight into tomorrow morning its 40%-30% closer to SYA def means SYA peaked and theres a good chance UF will be competitive *next week even if it loses #1 for a week. As of this second all the momentum is for UF (I see the same thing on Canadas iTunes).

I doubt Alanis is complaining she never had a #1 song. Her album sold a ton because they never released singles. It would have sold a ton no matter but still.

Example: "I Love You Always Forever" getting thirteen weeks atop Hot 100 Airplay and zero atop the Hot 100.

Its sales weren't quite that bad - this list has it selling an estimated 800K by the end of '96. Stacked up against a monster, though, that sold more than double even the next-best seller (3.7 million!) in that same time, and, well... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
