My alt station in KC has a segment on Friday's where they play new singles that record labels have sent them throughout the week to start putting into rotation, they played this and said it was the 2nd single off of "Kintsugi"

What is it with all 3 bands in the top three sending in their new singles to radio when their first singles haven't even lost their bullets / are still at their peaks?

Yeah this is a good choice. I prefer this to the first single by a decent amount.

It's exactly what goes on on The Pop charts nowadays too. Now if you think about it; it also happened throughout the 80s. Its the way to really get your music out there and for core acts to bombard newer acts before they ;themselves peak. Sometimes it works and sometimes it backfires, but more singles off your album = more $$$$$. A better observation I'm making is that they are saving the better song single #2(Also practiced in the 80s). This way you already hooked the listener with your first track. Now you just reel em in with your album.
As for this song? I love how they stick close to thier own sound. As opposed to changing thier sound to fit in with the crowd. This song is actually miles better"Black Sun"; which isn't a bad song at all, but this one really gets the blood pumping with that guitar work. Catchy as hell. Should slay them some AAA charts too. I dare say ; way up there with "Crooked Teeth" my fav DCFC song ever.

"Black Sun" was alright, this is fantastic. The high point from the record.

They needed to do something fast-paced after the dreary "Black Sun", and this was perfect. Best song on the album. If "Little Wanderer" is #3, that'll be even better.
Also, does anyone else find it weird that "Black Sun" is their 2nd biggest hit of their career? Seems like radio will remember "Soul Meets Body" and both the "I Will..." songs better in recurrency.

As others said "Black Sun" is slow and seems like a song you would joy after you acquire its "taste". This is enjoyable at the first listen; especially after it picks up a little during the middle of the song.

Ok, yeah, this is ok....but better than "Black Sun"? Ehhhh that's a stretch.
Faster doesn't always mean better.

Good choice. Definitely should be another decent follow up performance for them. At least it wasn't a "WTF" choice like "Stay Young, Go Dancing".

Stay Young, Go Dancing was a great song. Yes, but single material, it is not. Had something else been chosen (like the obvious "Underneath the Sycamore"), that would've probably gone Top 10 instead of missing Top 30.

I feel like they don't always pick the right singles, especially not in the right order - seems like Little Wanderer would make a much better single than this, or at least a much safer single

What's interesting is that I received a survey from Rate The Music that featured "The Ghosts of Beverly Drive," "Little Wanderer," "Good Help (Is So Hard To Find), and "Everything's A Ceiling" when they've already finalized that this will be the next single.

Saw the same thing and was wondering the same as well. Maybe just a survey for the hell of it? lol

I wasn't a big fan of "Black Sun", but I already had this one on my mp3's, so I just did a double download.

I feel like this is the weakest single they've ever put out, and the subject matter IMO is eerie and bizarre - really don't have a lot of confidence in this
They should send that poll back out and release something else
