That's funny because Hunter got the better response at mine. There were way more of people in the HH fanbase than the other twos that I saw- that might be because his TYNT show was cancelled here though.

He headlined one of the nights of Old Settlers days that I went to in Rockton, IL and it was sold out at 6K; and I'm biased, but he clearly outperformed/had a better response than Hunter H. during opening of Lady A tour. This is sitting at #16 on mediabase currently He's the hottest star in the format for the moment. I can guarantee Lady A knew this when they added him to the tour. He AND HH bring fans and without them, that tour would've been a failure that other Lady A tours have reportedly been attendance wise.

After having to ensure that recent piece of bombast known as Parking Lot Party, now comes another overbearing screamathon which was equally unnecessary IMHO.
Will this trend ever stop? Strait & Jackson have essentially been blacklisted from the format after their enormous contributions in driving both ratings and the format's popularity into the stratosphere throughout the nineties and the following two decades, and stuff like this now pollutes the airwaves in its place?

I actually find this song more subdued than "Parking Lot Party". The instruments are less "heavy" on this one — less bass, fewer drums, more acoustic guitar, and what little electric guitar is used is "clean" instead of overdriven (although PLP had a couple acoustic fills too). So far, I've liked all of Sam's singles and the sheer uniqueness of his musical persona. As I've said before, "unique" doesn't always mean "good" ("Ready Set Roll" being a good example of a song that was "unique" without being "good"), but so far, I've had no problem whatsoever with Sam's uniqueness because I find it enjoyable from both a musical and lyrical standpoint.

Sam doesn't even use a bass player live.

In its 5th week, House Party climbs up to a new peak of #45 on the Hot 100.
Looks like Sam Hunt's on track for his 3rd top 40 trip in less than a year.

Even though Billboard shows that this has been on the chart for 24 weeks, it's only been 7 weeks since this went for adds, and here it is already knocking on the door of the top 10. "House Party" increased by 2.4 million audience impressions on Billboard last week, and moved 13-11 in the process.
Sam is so white hot that a couple of his album tracks ("Break Up In A Small Town" and "Raised On It") are getting some unsolicited airplay, just as "House Party" did while "Take Your Time" was still climbing the charts.
Montevallo is back at #1 on Top Country Albums this week as well, just ahead of ZBB's Jekyll + Hyde and Kacey's Pageant Material. "Take Your Time" is still holding up extremely well in sales and recurrent airplay, although it surprisingly appears to be done on Pop radio already. I really thought they'd take to it, given its continued strong sales and good callout scores (among pop radio listeners).
Sam was also one of Taylor Swift's surprise guests over the weekend; Sam joined Taylor on stage at Chicago's Soldier Field to perform "Take Your Time".
Edit: Grr, UMG keeps taking all the good videos of Sam and Taylor off of YouTube.

I am curious to see what Sam has up his sleeve for the next song. This guy is so white hot I think radio will take anything. Well i'm definitely curios to see.what happens.

I've only listened to Montevallo a couple of times, but I think "Break Up In A Small Town" would be a great single...for pop radio. I realize it's already sold a ton (350,000+ downloads as an album track), but I really don't think there's a whole lot of overlap between people buying that song and people that listen to country radio. If they did release "Break Up In A Small Town" to country radio, I could see it doing what Brantley Gilbert's "Kick It In The Sticks" did (go Platinum, but peak below the top 30). BUIAST might sell (and again, we've already seen that), but I think it would be extremely polarizing. Honestly, I think their best choice is probably "Raised On It". Yeah, yeah, I know it was a SiriusXM single, but that shouldn't matter. It's radio-friendly and I definitely think it would be another big hit for Sam. If I were in charge, I'd work "Raised On It" to country radio and send BUIAST to pop radio. "Make You Miss Me" could maybe work. I don't see "Speakers" or "Ex To See" as good choices, though.

I think pretty much any song off the album could be a single, but I've heard a few radio interviews where he kind of alludes to BUIAST being the next single....I'd have to do some digging though
THIS WEEK: (after 7 weeks of adds)
House party is #12 on mediabase
#11 on Billboard airplay
#1 country album again (#5 all genres with 44K in sales)
#18 TYT and #20 HP currently on iTunes all genres singles
Nice to see this album have legs
as far as next singles go.....I vote for BUINST (perfect for football season)...or make you miss me...but UMG would be stupid not to capitalize on BUIAST sales
O, and I definitely think the label waited too long before sending TYT to pop...the chart got way too crowded

I personally think "Speakers" would be the best choice for the 4th single. "Speakers" would sound great for tailgating during the upcoming football season, and it actually sounds a little country. BUIAST could be a good single as well, but I'd think they'd have to make a radio edit for country music IMO. And it really doesn't matter, I think any song he releases will go platinum at this point. Heck, the fact that it might go Gold without even being released as a single might be a good reason to release something else instead, to earn an extra certification.

So happy that this is top 10 after only 8 weeks since add date!! Flying up the charts like an A-lister. It's really looking like we'll get 5 radio singles from "Montevallo". Maybe we'll get both "Break Up in a Small Town" AND "Speakers" before the next album. There was an accidental leak last week of Sam's music video for "Speakers" (it's a semi-steamy video featuring Destinee Quinn from The Voice as the female love interest!) It got quickly pulled off YT by the label though. Possible hint that "Speakers" could be a 5th single after BUIAST as the 4th single?
Also excited about Sam's tour dates next year. He will be co-headliner with Dierks Bentley for a couple of Country Festivals in Summer 2016! You know you're becoming an A-lister when Country festivals are signing you up as a headliner 1 year in advance. Sam will also do a few dates opening for Luke Bryan. I'm very happy that Sam will get to watch and learn from the biggest country star right now. UMG is doing an excellent job planning for Luke's heir apparent.

UMG is doing an excellent job planning for Luke's heir apparent. My God, what have we done? We've unleashed a monster that's unstoppable and inspiring more music like Sam Hunt's hence we get Eli Young Band's new one Honey I'm Good. There'll be plenty more copycats.

OHMYGOD NOOOOOOOOO Eh Maybe Dierks didn't know. I'll say this Dierks deserves A-List status over Sam Hunt any day of the week. Ha! Say You Do just came on the radio. Oh Dierks you should be more popular than Sam Hunt.

It's worrisome since Madde & Tae and Kip are playing most of the same festivals as Dierks this summer. Which means it's quite possible it means Sam and Dierks touring together. Which means the first Dierks tour I've skipped. Ever.

^ Oh good God no!!!! What the hell?!? One album and this Pop singer is ready to co-headline with one of the few male singers left in mainstream country music who actually respects the Country genre? I mean seriously CO-FRIGGING-HEADLINE?!?

Holding onto the hope that this too shall pass. First it was Bro-Country, which at least had a couple of songs that could be deemed "guilty pleasures", then that dies and now we have this Pop/R&B crap. You're right, it's a fickle crowd, and when they leave, what will the genre become next? I'd say it can't get worse, but I've been proven wrong before.....a lot

As with the other two singles, I like this, but the lyrics are atrocious.
