It's astonishing to me that labels don't seem to understand the notion that such a prolonged chart run (especially one like this where the song has been getting substantial rotation for a while) can actually work adversely by creating artist fatigue, for PDs and listeners alike, I'd imagine.
The average listener has virtually NO clue where a song peaks. If they are tired of hearing it, it's in the best interest for the label to move on.
When they do these things they're literally sacrificing appeasing the millions (listeners' tastes and practices) to appease the hundreds (industry calling this a top 10).

This one lost another 360k in Mediabase audience today and 24 spins, so it appears this one is done even if the label is still fighting for airplay. They might push this another week but it's futile.

This one has gained 150 spins and stayed flat in audience the past six days. Like I mentioned, Curb can do whatever they like but this song will not be going much higher, if at all.
I never want to hear this song again. I cannot believe Lee has a song that makes me turn the dial faster than "Drinking Class" did.

Admittedly I had never listened to this song the entire way through because as soon as I hear the "I couldn't hear your drawl" line I immediately cringe and can't hit the dial fast enough. I did make an attempt to listen to this in its entirety the other day and couldn't help but scratch my head at how a song like this can be a hit at radio while something similar such as Kip Moore's "Running For You" struggles to find an audience. I'd like to think given the choice radio listeners would choose Kip's song over this and it's just the radio/media conglomerates and powers that be pushing us the latter (likely because Lee probably has or seems to have a good relationship with those at radio).

One possibility that you may or may not have considered is that there are some people who might actually like this song. I like kips song as well so I don't think they are mutually exclusive.

One possibility that you may or may not have considered is that there are some people who might actually like this song. I like kips song as well so I don't think they are mutually exclusive. First, my post was referencing my personal opinion of the song as well as my bewilderment that songs such as Kip's (and many others) struggle at radio. Second, I do remember you sharing a strong opinion of Dierks Bentley's "Somewhere On A Plane" mentioning that you were surprised at how many people liked the song and followed that up with "Yech!" While I may think this song is "Yech" I'm not surprised some like it. There's nothing wrong with sharing an opinion on whether we like/dislike a song and I find no reason for us to personally call each other out for doing so (which seems to be happening frequently).

^OK, touché on calling me out for "somewhere on the beach"! I was indeed questioning the sanity of the population at large.
However, it seems to me that that's what your post was doing as well. I know that you say you were expressing your personal opinion, but it seems like your personal opinion radio listeners shouldn't like this song.

I loved "TDSLY" and was bummed to see it wasn't going to make a top 5 run. As far as chart runs I have to respectfully disagree about length. If the artist has a short run and gives up on a song before it's top 20 that can kill momentum, but if it's too long then it's "artist fatigue." I don't think an artist or label can pass on trying to make a run at a number 1 song. I think the average person knows songs that have made the journey to the top, they talk about it all the time on the radio. Also having abother top 10 helps artists in different ways, people track and keep records of how many each individual artist has.

On Mediabase, Lee increased by 195 plays and nearly 1 million in audience over the past 7 days. So yeah, this one is still being aggressively pushed by Curb, but I expect them to let it go very soon. They got their top 10 peak, and the competition is just too much.

On cue. The day after Curb put a teaser for "More Love" (or "A Little More Love" -- still unsure what official title is, lol), "That Don't Sound Like You" lost 50 spins today. I have to think this song will start to fall this week with that new single coming in mere weeks.

Sorry, haven't read the thread from the start. Heard this today and it's not the same version as on the album. Has Curb sent a revved up version to radio? It sounds like it's a tiny bit faster with an electronic backdrop and more prominent drums.

We were discussing that a while back in the thread, lol. :) Yes, Curb sent a driving backbeat version to radio too.
