www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6554039/zac-brown-band-third-no-1-album-billboard-200-chart Zac Brown Band Earns Third No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 ChartBy Keith Caulfield | May 06, 2015 11:00 AM EDT Zac Brown Band notches its third No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart as its latest effort, Jekyll + Hyde, arrives atop the tally. The set, which was released on April 28, moved 228,000 equivalent album units in the week ending May 3, according to Nielsen Music. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Jekyll + Hyde is the group’s first album for John Varvatos Records, Republic Records and Big Machine. The act was previously signed to Atlantic Records. Jekyll + Hyde is also the band’s third straight studio effort to reach No. 1, following the chart-topping bows of Uncaged (in 2012) and You Get What You Give (2010). The new set moved 214,000 in traditional album sales, marking the group’s second-largest sales frame (following the 234,000 sales launch of Uncaged). The new album was led by two No. 1 singles on two different airplay charts: “Heavy Is the Head,” featuring Chris Cornell, is spending its second week atop the Mainstream Rock Songs chart (dated May 16), while “Homegrown” led the Country Airplay chart for three weeks in April. Zac Brown Band is only the second act to ever reach No. 1 on both of those tallies (following Bon Jovi). Coming in at No. 2 behind Zac Brown Band on the new Billboard 200 is singer Josh Groban, who lands his eighth top 10 album with Stages. The set opens with 180,000 units, of which 176,000 were pure album sales. The album performed stronger than expected, as last week, some industry forecasters had pegged the set to start with around 125,000. Stages’ sales debut also surpasses the bow of Groban’s last release, 2012’s All That Echoes, which entered with 145,000 sold (and debuted at No. 1). Stages features Groban interpreting a bevy of famed musical theater songs, including tunes from Les Miserables (“Bring Him Home”), A Chorus Line (“What I Did For Love”) and The Phantom of the Opera (“All I Ask Of You”). The set boasts collaborations with Kelly Clarkson, Chris Botti and six-time Tony Award-winner Audra McDonald. Groban’s pairing with Clarkson on “All I Ask Of You” debuts on the Pop Digital Songs chart at No. 32, selling 15,000 downloads. Trailing Groban on the Billboard 200 at No. 3 is the Furious 7 soundtrack, which drives down one position with 53,000 units (down 15 percent). The third and final new entry in the Billboard 200’s new top 10 is country singer Tyler Farr’s Suffer In Peace. It starts at No. 4 with 42,000 units (of which 36,000 are pure album sales). The album follows Farr’s 2013 full-length debut, Redneck Crazy, which debuted and peaked at No. 5 off a 29,000 sales start. Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late slips one rung to No. 5 with 37,000 (down 24 percent), and the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack is also down a slot, to No. 6, with 36,000 units (down 6 percent). Last week’s No. 1 album, Alabama Shakes’ Sound & Color, slides to No. 7 in its second week with 34,000 units (down 64 percent). Sam Smith’s In the Lonely Hour dips 7-8 with 33,000 (down 9 percent) and Taylor Swift’s 1989 descends 6-9 with 32,000 (down 11 percent). Meghan Trainor’s Title rounds out the top 10, holding steady at No. 10 with 31,000 (up less than 1 percent).

Groban killing it.
Projected for 120-130K last week.
Reported at 150K by Hits Daily Double.
Actually did 176K, which is an INCREASE from his last album (even though his visibility hasn't notably increased).

www.hiphopdx.com/index/news/id.33736/title.hip-hop-album-sales-drake-yelawolf-insane-clown-posseHip Hop Album Sales: Drake, Yelawolf & Insane Clown Posseposted Wednesday May 06, 2015 Yelawolf falls to #15 after his first ever Top 10 debut and Drake remains steady at #5. After debuting at #3 this last week, Yelawolf's Love Story dropped a dozen spots to #15 on the Billboard 200 in the second week of the album's availability. Drake, meanwhile, rode out the second week of the physical release of his latest album in the Top 10 at #5 after the CD-sales boosted him back to #4 last week. The soundtrack to Furious 7 continues putting up big numbers but holds onto its spot in the Top 3 thanks to big streaming numbers and the sale of single songs from the album, both of which count towards the recently implemented total activity column on Billboard's chart. Just below Yelawolf at #15, Insane Clown Posse's new album, The Marvelous Missing Link: Lost, debuted in the Top 20 at #17 after selling nearly 18,00 copies in its first week, a higher sales count than several albums in the Top 10. R&B upstart Kehlani appears on the chart for the first time of her career with her You Should Be Here project rising to #36. More than a dozen spots lower, Raekwon's new solo album, F.I.L.A., made a splash at #60 after selling just under 8,000 units in its first week on shelves. Drake Falls To #5 Months after the original digital release, Drake released an extended CD version of his latest album last week and saw the record jump up the charts as a result. In the second week of the CD being available on shelves, Drake saw If Youre Reading This Its Too Late's activity count stutter 24% compared to last week. Drake sold another 18,441 copies of the album this week and still has the highest streaming count of any artist on the chart. Yelawolf Falls From #3 To #15 With last week's Love Story rollout serving as the best first-week performance of his career, Yelawolf's second album for Shady Records tumbled down the chart to #15 this week. The album sold 14,772 copies at most recent count and was streamed more than 2.8 million times over the last week. ICP Break Into Top 20 With New Album Insane Clown Posse's notoriously cultish fans showed out last week and bought up 17,819 copies of the group's new album, The Marvelous Missing Link: Lost. The album, the duo's thirteenth, ended up with more pure album sales than several records in the Top 10. Top 10 Billboard Top 200 Rap & R&B Albums For The Week Ending 04/26/2015Note: The first number below is this week’s “total album equivalent units” count, an intersection of album sales, single sales, and streams implemented by Billboard's new rating system. A pure album sales figure is available in bold in parenthesis and information about each album's streaming count is available in brackets. #3. Various - Furious 7 - 53,287 (14,337) [10,711,156] #5. Drake - If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late - 36,675 (18,441) [17,458,357] #15. Yelawolf - Love Story - 19,527 (14,772) [2,847,883] #17. Thanks for posting the charts, as always.
Insane Clown Posse's album becomes, by my count, the 20th top 10 album seller since December to not rank in the top 10 on the revamped Billboard 200.
Frozen climbed 10 spots in sales, so it may be hanging around the top 100 there for a little bit longer.
I know music's a man's world, but, damn, look at that catalog chart.

With that debut at #24, Blur picks up a first U.S. top 40 album.

www.metalinsider.net/columns/metal-by-numbers/metal-by-numbers-57-meanwhile-on-the-chartsMetal By Numbers 5/7: Meanwhile on the charts…Posted by Matt Brown on May 7, 2015 Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week. We like to think we know our audience here at Metal Insider. As such, I expect we’ll get more than a few cries of disdain and objection when the masses discover that we have, yet again, included a certain hip-hop duo that really serve better as fodder for ridiculous headlines rather than as a source of music. But when you’re done raging at your computer screen, be sure to take a peek at the other debuts we have for this week. There are actually good bands to be found. Notable Debuts: Insane Clown Posse, The Marvelous Missing Link (Lost) (Psychopathic Records) #7, 17,825 sold Give how much we’ve posted about them before, I am obligated to include this top 10 album. Stone Sour, Meanwhile In Burbank… (Roadrunner) #44, 6,350 sold This covers EP makes the top 50. From First To Last, Dead Trees (Sumerian) #171, 1,700 sold The Spencer Sotelo fronted post-hardcore act debuts album number album five. Theory of a Deadman, Angel Acoustic EP (Roadrunner) #186, 1,550 sold A new acoustic EP. Monolord, Vænir (Riding Easy) 360 sold This is the second album from the up-and-coming doom act. Bell Witch, Four Phantoms (Profound Lore) 350 sold Another doom metal sophomore album debuts. Notable Sales:Halestorm, Into the Wild Life (Atlantic) #34, 7,650 sold Still selling well after a 34% drop. Kid Rock, First Kiss (Warner Bros.) #56, 4,800 sold After 10 weeks, this is closing in on the 250,000 mark. www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6561100/blur-highest-charting-album Billboard 200 Chart Moves: Blur Scores Its Highest Charting Album EverBy Keith Caulfield | May 08, 2015 The Billboard 200 chart ranks the week’s most popular albums based on their overall consumption. That overall unit figure combines pure album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Let’s take a closer look at some of the action on the chart: —Blur, The Magic Whip - No. 24 — Remarkably, veteran band Blur logs its highest charting album ever with The Magic Whip's arrival at No. 24 (16,000 equivalent album units earned). It's the group's first studio album since 2003, when Think Tank logged their previous highest rank of No. 56. —Eric Clapton, Forever Man - No. 26 — Legendary singer/guitarist Eric Clapton continues his lengthy chart history on the Billboard 200 as his new compilation Forever Man debuts at No. 26. The set moved 8,000 equivalent album units in the week ending May 3, according to Nielsen Music. The new effort is his 44th charting album and comes almost 45 years after he made his solo debut with his self-titled album on the chart dated July 25, 1970. —Grateful Dead, Dave's Picks Volume 14: Academy of Music, New York, NY, 3/26/72 - No. 31 — The debuting set is the 68th charting album for the act, and third this year. Just since 2010, the group has tallied 22 entries, nearly all from its expansive archival reissue series (including this new arrival). —Zac Brown Band, The Foundation - No. 71 — As the group's latest album starts at No. 1, its breakthrough album The Foundation zooms back onto the list with a 137 percent overall unit gain, and a 69 percent sales increase. —The Weepies, Sirens - No. 103 — The folk/pop duo returns with its first studio set in five years, which also enters at No. 3 on Folk Albums (5,000 sold). The act will be on the road in support of the album this summer, with tour dates announced through July 1. —Sabrina Carpenter, Eyes Wide Open - No. 124 — The singer's performance of the album's title track and "We'll Be the Stars" on the Radio Disney Music Awards (April 29, broadcast on Disney Channel) helps spur a 31 percent overall unit gain for the set.

Gotta love the Zac Brown Band's domination of the charts (country, rock, country albums, and top 200). Does anyone have actual sales figures for The Foundation? I know it's triple platinum. Thanks.

1,827,000 were digital albums. 2,397,000 were physical albums (cds, cassettes and vinyl). I didn't realize physical albums were still outselling digital albums.
