I just cried to this song because I finally really listened to its lyrics while watching its video. It perfectly captures my relationship. I'm absolutely speechless. Perfect song. This needs to smash. Carly is the queen of pop Today is the pop radio adds. I'd love for it to get at least twenty? Anyway... The video didn't really help much, in fact it only has 1 million views. It's #112 on iTunes right now, the highest it ever been. This song deserves to smash, i hope radio doesn't ignore it like they did with I Really Like You. Also, the video didn't even had a budget so i hope they spend some money with promotion. IRLY had decent promo

I was hoping for this to make The Top 50 of the Mediabase chart before the adds date. Oh, well.

It only had had like one add before today so I doubt it has more than 50 spins tbh.

I was hoping for this to make The Top 50 of the Mediabase chart before the adds date. Oh, well. It came out on July 17th, that's impossible for Carly. She's not Taylor Swift.

I think that's just a visual accessory to the "audio" and we may get a lyric video soon and then the real video will likely come based off how much money they make in the mean time.

That's good adds? Good then. The radio stations that added it are small though.

They're all small stations, but I think this could pull a 'Worth It' and hopefully get all the Cumulus stations on board and maybe the big stations can join in later.

Only 27 adds? I can understand why I really Like You didn't perform well on radio, but this song has IT to smash all over radios, I will be so pressed if it doesn't at leaast make top 3 on pop.

"Only" 27? 27's a lot higher than I was expecting. She's essentially a two-hit-wonder on this format, and her last single failed to amount to much on pop. I was expecting somewhere in the teens. Granted, they are smaller stations, but 27 small stations is still a hell of a lot better than 15.

I think this track kinda has the same issue her previous one (and much of her album) did in that the production ends up weakening what should be the hook. I get the Latch similarities that some mentioned, but this never has a strong enough hook jump out at you imo.

Again, note to corporate radio: Take off the dang Bieber-colored glasses and just play the song. Who cares if she's not Taylor et al, just play it based on its own merits. Might have to resort to flooding iHeart with tweets, if you know what I mean... ;)

Might have to resort to flooding iHeart with tweets, if you know what I mean... ;) I like this song and hope it does well, but it is disingenuous to suggest CRJ has been unfairly shafted by radio (if I misunderstood your post, I apologize - but you wouldn't be the only person saying she's treated unfairly regardless). In the case of "I Really Like You," callouts were abysmal and the sales were unspectacular (if not disappointing) despite label support, significant media coverage, high-profile videos, TV promo and her recognizable brand/vast social network. Radio can choose to overlook those factors (poor callouts didn't hurt Worth It, and underwhelming callouts + sales haven't prevented Tori Kelly from scoring two straight Top 20s), but you can't get mad if they don't. More importantly, it's hard to argue the song's "merits" when it isn't delivering in the two areas that best speak to the public's opinion of the song. If Run Away With Me ends up selling like hotcakes and getting a 50% net positive on the callout report, radio darn well better play it. Until that happens, it's really just a song we Internet types like.

If Run Away With Me ends up selling like hotcakes and getting a 50% net positive on the callout report, radio darn well better play it. Until that happens, it's really just a song we Internet types like. The one thing that bugged me about IRLY's callout, and that shows one of the possible flaws of relying on those numbers, is that in the three weeks it was on there it started from a -1% net positive and ended with a 28% net positive. So to me, that showed IRLY had really strong 'grower' potential, but radio often can't be bothered with growers. Even then, this isn't really radio's fault. The two week delay between her premiering the song and its adds date didn't do any favors; that's two weeks that the song could have been growing on the public and capitalizing on her high coverage at the time. Add to that, she could have had the benefit of an hourly play or On the Verge deal, but those have to be paid for and she didn't get one...radio is problematic only in the general sense that you gotta pay to (be) play(ed), and I think that might have been why jPHQ said what he did (i.e. don't play something b/c it's a big name from a label that threw its weight around, but b/c the song is simply that good). However, this is a system that all majors are complicit in maintaining, so if there is anyone who I'd start pointing fingers at, it's probably the label first for those slip-ups. In contrast, I wouldn't be surprised if the reason 5th Harmony and Tori Kelly have outperformed their callout is b/c their labels have continued to push behind the scenes. With that said, I definitely agree that her coverage overall was on point, and I'd attribute that to her management, which did a great job with lining stuff up for her and making sure her name was out there as much as possible. Hopefully that continues for this single and the album release next month.

I sometimes think we're more passionate about music, esp. new music, than the general public.

I do think that if the gp heard this song, they wouldn't be able to deny how infectious the song is, even if they're embarrassed to admit it. I think the best chance it has at doing anything is putting it in a commercial or radio payola if they haven't spent all their budget yet. BUT I still think it has a chance to take off organicly in which case it would probably be a sleeper hit. Just look at ghost town, everybody wrote it off early but it's shaping up to be a big hit.
