I don't understand how viral videos make songs that have already sold very well and were extremely popular come back to life, idg who is just now deciding to buy, especially considering how big it was on radio, also.

I've said it before, but the biggest shock for me now that we have streaming data is how people listen to the same stuff forever and ever. I used to think radio played songs out, but it's clear that a lot of people want to hear the same songs over and over.

It's funny to me because the most played song on my iTunes/iPod has 107 plays total...and that's across 4 years! Lol! I cannot listen to songs as many times as a lot of people apparently do.

Cheerleader.  It looks like a future Number one, perhaps in mid or late July.

EDIT:  Fight Song perhaps can peak in the top 10, but airplay and sales must improve.

Considering there are 325MM people in US and over 123MM household, even a 2 million+ seller has plenty of room for growth. People discover music that is 'new' to them all the time - that's why deep catalog sales are still huge. Plus those viral surges on iTunes account for, what?, 10K 20K extra sales in a week? It's really not that much when you consider the overall potential market.

Tbh I think both might make it. But at this point I would say Cheerleader has the advantage because it is much higher on Spotify if I'm not mistaken, as well as airplay.
