I streamed a few of these songs earlier today on Spotify. I still purchase all my music on itunes, but I always sample music of artists I am unsure of (like Canaan) before I purchase. I will say, it seems he has some sort of identity crisis, which turns me off a little bit. I remember this dude being clean cut wearing sweaters and what not when "We Got Us" came out 3 years ago. Now he's got the facial hair and claims to be "Nitty gritty". Speaking of that, they interviewed him on Kix's show (I think), and I kid you not, he used the words "nitty gritty" 4 TIMES in the interview to describe his album, and the lead single. Enough dude, we get it, you're "tough" now.
To me, a "nitty gritty" love song would be Roger Alan Wade singing "Put Another Log On The Fire", but I digress.
"Bronco" seems like an OK song, as does "Hole In The Bottle", but I probably won't be purchasing this. To me his style is more Hunter Hayes/Rascal Flatts, rather than whomever he's trying to be like. And that's fine, just not my cup of tea.
And for the record, "Love You Like That" is being PLAYED TO DEATH. Please move on to another single. Literally, since May 1 this song has to be played every 20 minutes. And I only listen to country radio in my wife's car. But good god, It will definately be the most overplayed song of 2015, IMO

I think the second single has to be Good Kinda Bad; nothing else really stood out for me.

I gotta agree with you bjer127, there was nothing cohesive about the album and lacked substance. Also next single for me has gotta be Two Lane Road I love that song! But Good Kinda Bad definitely would be #3 for me! :)

I'll share my thoughts on this before Kacey:
I really see potential in Canaan, seriously. He's got an alright enough voice, but man, he needs to quit with the macho crap. There's really nothing I would deem "atrocious" on here, but there's hardly anything that stands out either. The big moment that will make people turn their heads is not some macho rock song about how "nitty-gritty" he is, it's when he's vulnerable and being genuine like on the title track which is truly an awesome moving song about his late brother. Overall, it's obvious that this nitty gritty stuff is not who Canaan is, (hell I could write a book when it comes to this and males in the mainstream). The only other song that I would describe as "ok" would be "Stuck", but even that I could do without the repeating of the title track at the end of every chorus.
Grade: 4.5/10

Has anyone heard the Target bonus tracks? I remember trying to find this at Target when it was released, but they didn't have it so I ordered it from Amazon (I actually didn't know about the bonus tracks until now).
